This is sort of the last of that James Brown feeling songs that really got that understanding of soul and funk. Maceo and Fred/Peewee really brought a lot to that James Brown Sound.

This is the version from the album "Live on Planet Groove". It is the absolute best funky jazz anywhere.
Maceo's solo though.. the funk equivalent of a mic drop! sweet lord!
Best version of Southwick ever... it's been my benchmark since it was released. The Horns fading in the end is the grooviest thing ever to hit this planet. Shame that the rest of the concert isn't up to par, really :(
