Whatever you do. Do not upgrade to Big Sur. I accidentally did that and now the fan is now running spastic and the battery is drained twice as fast becuase of software alterations Apple has done. Thank me later

@@Lumanix1 I have the same model . I updated to 11.2 they fixed allot of issues and its running better . I have the 13in i7 model. The first version of Big Sur was horrible so I downgraded back to Catalina . I downloaded 11.2 and its running much smoother with longer battery life .

I just bought a 2015 MBP 15in with i7 and 16gb ram for 800 bucks... Is it truly worth spending almost 2k more for the 2020? My hesitation is the 2015 running out of software

Awesome! I still love my 2015 Macbook and I will plan to keep it until apple doesn't support it!

It's just insane how much better the 2015 MBP feels over the modern generation. I had the chance to upgrade at work back in 2019 and even years later I still find myself reaching for the 2015 more often than the 2018 MBP. The keyboard, the weight, the stiffness of the screen, video games consistently run better (idk how because the other has a GPU).

Happy that I have found your content. I own the late 2015. It was my 1st MacBook ever and I want to keep it (although I am barely using it) because it is the last one which has this particular design.

I love all your presentations handsome man!

I loved my MacBook Pro 15 , got it when I began college and graduated using it , I poured an entire cop of coffee on keyboard too , buttons were sticky for couple of months and then nothing happened it’s a tank , but I’m upgrading now and passing it to my brother for his college journey .

Great comprehensive comparison between the two. I am upgrading my 2015 to a 2020 so I can pass the older one on to my 14 year old son who is fully online school. The computer they provided him is terrible, so he uses my Mac all the time - truth be told, I don't want to share, so there you have it LOL Super excited for the upgrade - Thanks again!

I like this kind of videos, that are more of a consumer advice for real life situations, not comparing iPhone 11 with iPhone 12. I will probably buy the 2020 model and keep my old one - mainly cause of the ports and the MagSafe

I've been trying to find a reason to upgrade my 15 MBP. I've used it every day for the past 5 years. Now the battery is pretty weak, but other than that its running just as fast as the day I got it.

My mid 2014 MBP 13” LCD broke down after 6 years of use. It costs me $380 for replacement, but hey, that's the only problem I had after 6 years!. This Macbook still works well, I have never experienced any lag until now 👏🏻

Ahhh now this I want to watch! 😆 EDIT: Just finished the video, and first I have to say, it’s very well made 👏🏻 and second, the price points, the config you chose are spot on! (Really, this is the comparison I was looking for all this time, a decent high end 2015 vs the upper tier 2020) For almost 10 years I’ve been upgrading the insides of my 2011 MBP, waiting for the 2015 prices to come down... but suddenly there’s the excellent 16 inch, and then there’s the 2020 13inch, making a decision was harder than ever, do I save some money and get the 2015 or just try to find a way to get the latest and greatest? Because this year more than ever the YoY upgrade was huge! I ended up with a base 16inch which felt like a dream come true, but I was always curious, if I got a 2015 13inch instead, can it handle 4K? And how will it compare to the 2020 13inch? I’m glad that this video answered it all! 😁👍🏻 can’t wait for more!

I bought the 15' MBP in 2015 for uni and it honestly has been one of my best computer purchases ever. I had to open it up to do a battery change, remove dust from the fans and put new thermal paste 4 years down the line but apart from that, It's been a champ. Never slowed down once. It made it a lot easier and more enjoyable to do uni work and the keyboard is a pleasure to use. I'm gonna use it until it breaks down.

Bought the best configuration for my mid-2015 MBP 15", 5+ years of loyal services and I hope it'll go for 2 more (fingers crossed)

I actually had the 2015 MacBook Pro for a few months back in mid 2016. For 1080p video edits, it did well and had no problems editing and exporting those. When I threw 4K videos on it, it could edit it, but when I hit export, it was another story. The processor and graphics in that thing was not built for doing 4K videos. The screen was nice on that computer. I now have the 2020 MacBook Pro now. It is just a massive improvement. I could edit 4K60FPS videos on that now without much of a problem.

I have Mac book early 2015 i5 2,9 and use it for programing but I love to have 2020 MacBook pro but in my country Iran it's impossible because it's so experience and Appel don't support Iran for his products and it's very hard for me

Oh man, this is such a great idea, to compare the most reliable and most popular budget MacBook. I've just bought a Mac Mini and would HIGHLY recommend it, even the i3 Quad Core is INCREDIBLE for Video Editing (that's the model I have!)

@@Techkhamun Hi , I am looking to work with heavy multiples excel files (115 MB) simultaneously. These files have a lot of formulas and macros.Should I go for the MacAir i7 with 16 GB RAM or Mac Pro base model?

The best answer would be, get the 2020 model early next year or before year end when it's on sale or on its lowest price. Price is dipping fast here in the Philippines at about 1300USD but I'm still going to wait for it till it drops to below 1k.

Would you consider comparing the 2015 macbook pro 15" to the new Macbook Pro M1 13"? Personally, I think I'm waiting for the 16" M1 when it comes out. But it would be cool to see how good the M1 is compared to my 2015 Pro

Bought a 2015 13" yesterday, and after half an hour, the trackpad and keyboard stopped working. They are notorious, for breaking the pad/keyboard flex cable.

Watching on 2013 15' Retina. Which runs great, except it started having "black screen death" kind of thing, that comes for few days and goes back to normal, and no one really knows how to fix this. So now I can't decide if I should go for a used maxed out 2015 or the 2020 one. 600$ VS 2000$.

2015 MacBook Pro is a tank I am using it from last 4 years and till date no problem with I run lots of apps at one time still crisp like new

IT sounds like unless you're actually living from design or something like that, you could keep your 2015 and make a bit of resistance to Planned obsolescence.

Great review! I just bought a used 2015 Macbook Pro as I really want to wait till the second iteration of the Apple silicon models around next year or two. The 2015, while it's not great, gets the job done for me on a day-to-day basis - still got brilliant battery life, a nice retina display to admire, easy on the eyes, and yes, no fumbling with the ports :) Quick question: What's the CPU temp and fan speed app you're using up there on the top bar?

Nice!! Thats is a good deal! I made a 2015 macbook pro in 2020 video and I still think its awesome! This model was more for someone who has had their model for about 5 years and is looking to upgrade but the 2015 model is still amazing in 2020 and even 2021 my best guess!

I’m not sure the 2020 ‘Goldilocks’ model (“everything just right”) is actually the best comparison with the 2015 model. That was an i7? - which was an upgrade to the standard 2.9 GHz i5 build. Ideally, the comparison ought to be between a 2020 i7 (which is available - extra $/£200) and that 2015 model, or a 2015 standard build i5 version and the new one. That would produce results even more in favour of the new model, of course. But I understand that you can only compare what you’ve got to hand.

Yeh I only have the i5 model but yeh you are right the i7 would have been the exact comparison but it was as close as I have 😂 Its still a great comparison to see the two models against each other and the i7 is about 8% better in performance so adjust the results and you will see the difference! I want to see this too! I love love love my 2015 15" MBP but it's not going to last forever. I hate hate hate the touch bar so I don't know what to do when I am forced to upgrade!!

So which one is betterr

I still have my 2015 pro due to the ports. None of my electronics have USB-C except for my nintendo switch, and the dongle is only practical for desktops, not laptops. I'll upgrade once USB-C becomes the standard for everything

i was thinking of buying a MacBook Air i3 or i5 2020 for you light tasks (Power Point, Word, Office, Browsing, Netflix, YT and light Photo/Video Edit etc.). I decided to buy a used 2015 MBP 13 inch Basemodel for under 600€ ind almost new condition (under 70 cycles and clean screen). I think it was a perfect choice. It runs faster than some Windows Gaming Laptopts. Its insane.

For sure! Like if your not quite sure how much how power you need, this is a great model to start from and then if you need more, they sell for nearly what you buy them for even a year or so on! and thank you man! no problem, sending much love to Germany!!

Very gesticulating hands! Good video though bro keep it up. Here are my thoughts. Everything is relative but money makes the world go round. There are always going to be improvements to anything whether that be cars, tech, whatever it may be. Most people want to see a true radical change before they outlay £2000-3000 on a new laptop. I have the 2015 15" and it is now 4 and a bit years old. I haven't updated since because those marginal gains didn't justify that big outlay. I will be vindicated in Spring 2021 when the new MacBook will have a powerful and well supported ARM chip and Mini LED 🔥 screen. The form factor will have a more aggressive screen to body ratio and it may even have 1080p web camera for all those people WFH in the "new normal" So for me I am delighted I had the foresight and patience to wait. Incidentally it cost me 2000+ but I can still sell it for 750. Lovely stuff.

If the 2015 MacBook Pro is the same as the 2020 M1 MacBook Pro, buy the 2020 one, it'll be quicker than the 2015 for sure

i have a 2015 13 inch macbook pro base model i5 intel iris and 8gb ram. I love it and i couldnt even think about giving it away. It runs perfectly fine and quiet doing anything. What holds me back the most is that there is no Magsafe and Light up Apple logo like Apple why in the Hell did they have to remove it

Yeh that Apple Silicon Mac is definitely in my sights too, don't worry I will definitely be getting one for review (and to keep😉) so if you can hold out a bit longer, of course watch my video and then buy it haha but in all seriousness, if you can wait it might be worth it, we are seeing a new Apple over the next two years!

For the very first time.. Finally I'm thinking to upgrade my 'wonderful beast' Mac pro 13 2015 bought in 2016 😁 Still a flawless machine after nearly 5 years old! Ok.. I'll wait for a couple of months to see how good the Mac pro 13 M1 is.

i prefer to carry around a small jbl bluetooth speaker on the old 2015 rather than an awful dongle for a usb mouse i always use

I would recommend waiting for 14” MacBook Pro in mid-2021 with a lot slimmer bezels and  Silicon chip. Looks like it will be way better than this.

What price is maximum good for a 2015 Model i7 and 512 GB ?

Mate, please help me make a decision. Firstly, is the display quality on the old non-retina 2017 Macbook Air bad for content / media consumption (reading, movies, social etc.)? I'm so confused between getting a second-hand Macbook and a new iPad Air. Budget is around 550-600 US dollars max. I also miss not being able to use my HDD / SSD on an iPad. On the other hand, Macs don't support apps like iPads do. So, watching and downloading stuff from Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Telegram becomes a problem. Help me decide what to do. Thanks. Love ur stuff.

Yeh I mean Philip DeFranco uses his hands to talk I would say more than me, but maybe he gets told this too 😅 it's the second time I've been told about my hands but again I've been told it's not bad at all, I'm just expressive. It's funny though, you spend 6/8 hours on a video (not including prep time) and I am judged on my hand movements, not the quality of my words or video 😂 I don't mind it's all fun here 😊✌🏽

My 2015 retina 15" finally gave in last week, the screen broke :-( I purchased the 2020 13inch intel pro model and so far so good but i really do miss this screen size, i won't lie.

Maybe get a chromebook laptop or tablet with pen that’s pretty good for editing and school work

I just got a 2014 15” 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD NVIDIA graphics but man it runs hotter then ever and fans crank at high rpms just web browsing! Replaced thermal paste. Took it to somewhere and they said it needed motherboard replacement? Wondering if 2015s run hot too??

Did you try resetting the SMC and the NVRAM key combo?

I just ran Unigine Valley on my 2015 mac pro 17 2.2Ghz. This mac is significantly slower than your 3.1Ghz, though you have 4 cores, vs 8 cores on mine. The Unigine score on mine was 23 fps / 998. There must have been something inconsistent with your test settings.

I own a 2015 and a M2 macbook pro and I prefer the 2015 is most ways (except performance and screen) but keyboard of the 2015 is so much better imo. My new one also broke down 2 times already. My 2015 never broke down.

I've kept my Mac 2015 its great and will last long

Are they still buying it new

@@Deno06069 but is still better to do some research, watch some reviews specifically the negative side before you decide to buy it. It must be cheap on eBay but what is it that you’re buying ?

2015 there are 3 different 15" models: Q, T & U. Which are you comparing. A Q is evidently slower . I understand that the Q lacks the 2nd processor dedicated to video in the T & the U models. But your link goes to a 13" model.

I am only speaking about 13inch not 15inch here...

I would love if Apple released something along the lines of the MacBook Classic or something. I love my 2015 MacBook pro but unfortunately, it's just getting too underpowered. I guess ill finally have to learn to live with dongles😭.

@@Techkhamun I’m sure will but I would rather not. My dream MacBook is modem internals in that shell. The only thing I would to is swap the thunderbolt 2 ports for thunderbolt 3 ports. Either way I plan to pick up the new Apple silicon MacBook Pro.

I spilled a little bit on water on my 2015 now the battery is messed up, so here we are :(

Do you use the new 13 inch with final cut? Just trying to confirm If they’ve actually fixed the final cut beachball bug. Some say it was fixed some say it wasn’t. My 2013 has a swelling battery so I need a new one but don’t want to buy something that doesn’t work right lol. Thanks bro

@@Oudyroses lmaoo like i get its good technology but nobody other than rich people like you tubers and very successful adults can afford/ or even will spend that much on a computer that has just a few new features that don’t even improve the convince but just the style

I still use my mid-2012 MacBook Pro. I'm planning to replace it, but still confused 'tho

If it still works then wait until the Apple Silicon Mac's are out, then make your choice but don't always wait for the next thing around the corner otherwise you will never get anything 😊✌🏽

@@Techkhamun It still works but it's very very very slow and can't support most brand new apps. Yeah, the dilemma is whether I should bear with this slowness and wait for the transition (which I don't know what the result would be) or should I just buy 2020 version (I was planning to get a 2020 MBA)

Just picked up a 2015 MacBook Pro for $350 👍🏻

I bought my first MacBook Pro 13’’ 2020 but I am still thinking about return it and take MacBook Pro 15’’ 2015 Because of USB ports and saving money about that for 2020. I wanna use my MBP mostly for making videos and music production, recording and idk what to do... Maybe you have some opinions ? The 2020 have So good sound , speaker but if i will have Bluetooth speakers then it’s not making difference right ? Touch bar it’s very nice but I don’t need it that much. What is more the style of 2015 looks better for me. #harddecisions

If you want to do music and video production then speed and performance out weights a couple of USB ports, it depends on the software you are going to use ie if you will be using final cut pro and logic Pro X ( or to begin with iMovie and garageband) but the 2020 does perform 3x better than my 2015 when it comes to rendering etc

@@Techkhamun you are talking about MBP 13'' 2020 or 15''/16''? I am still thinking about these included ports because I heard that adapters overheat MB and it can be problematic... Also I forgot to say about memory, if I would take 2015 15'' I am gonna take 500Gb but right now I have 13'' 2020 with 256Gb. Is it enough for production? Maybe bigger screen it could be also better idea...? Thank you for answer !

Great content... 😊I would be really pleased if you can help me with this... in my country the new macbook air i5 8gb ram 512 gb version is priced equally with the 8th gen macbook pro 8gb ram 256 gb... should i go for the macbook air with better storage or for the macbook pro with less storage but slightly better performance? ... the 16gb ram upgrade is not available here!! I would be using just for some office work n Netflix n KZread... also i am looking for the longevity factor... i want to use the laptop for about 5 years.. would be super helpful if you could answer this!! 😊

I would say the MacBook air would be a good option for you but if you plan on doing anymore than those tasks then get the pro model and then when you fill up your storage just grab yourself an external harddrive to move your files and then you have them forever!
