B Nap is the racist one as he assumes people in Africa don’t have expensive things. He’s too ignorant to realize there are 54 countries in Africa. Much like the United States, there are people of mixed economic status. He’s an ignorant fool that likes feeling good about himself by calling other people racist. Common liberal.

Thirty year old Macallan is a rare and rarefied whisky. The time spent maturing in carefully selected European and American oak casks which have previously held Sherry or Bourbon creates a rich, intense liquid, with a deep colour achieved wholly naturally through the interaction between spirit and wood.

  • @idontwanttopickone

The alcohol evaporation of high strength whiskey should keep the cork damp enough for it to remain intact. Whiskey corks are also smaller than a wine bottle cork, so the amount of moisture needed to keep the cork from crumbling is much lower. The small size of the cork is also why you can pull it out with your hands. But, if you store whiskey for long enough, the cork will likely fail and it's a good idea to decant older whiskeys into another bottle once opened, replace the cork with a newer one or simply drink it in one sitting as they are more likely to break from repeated opening and closing.

Just some general knowledge for everyone. Once alcohol has been bottled, it no longer ages. This goes for almost all spirits. Spirits does not include beer or wine. Some spirits are purposefully bottled with something to continue the aging process such as a piece of the barrel or casque they were aged in, which allows aging to continue to a lesser extent.

Just depends on how old the actual bottle is and most importantly, how it was kept. If you're keeping your whisky bottle for a long time, you should expect the cork to dry off and because of that (and the fact it could then introduce oxygen in the bottle) you should wet the cork from time to time. On the other hand, you shouldn't keep your whisky bottles horizontally as that will also affect the cork. Unfortunately, when you're buying a bottle from a previous owner who didn't keep it as they should you can end up with a cat in a bag - oxidized whisky not worth anything. I guess it can happen even if you buy from a store where they didn't storage it properly. And let's assume older whiskey that's more expensive can sometimes stay way too long on a shelf.

  • @ddelimar

I poked a small hole from there and only had a few sips because the cork bits in every drink was really less than ideal. So I put it back in the wine holder and most of it spilled out over night.. sorry mom.. She got it while traveling around the world and was keeping it for when she was old.
