I'd never heard of this guy until now. He's like a cross between Tommy Cooper and Buster Keaton. Brilliant.

Che bravo! Me lo ricordo in tv quando ero piccolo. Piaceva moltissimo a mio Papà.

Mac Romay was born in 1913 in France; died 2004 in France, nice, long life. Was in several movies.

Au cinéma, on se souvient tous de son rôle de Bastien dans les Tontons flingueurs. «Bastien, première gâchette chez les Volfoni, cinq ans de labeur, de nuit comme de jour, et sans un accroc...» Mais on peut aussi retrouver ses talents de mime face à Coluche dans l'Aile ou la Cuisse, où il est hilarant dans son rôle de serveur plein de tics.

Il y a aussi pas mal tourné en Italie, avec de grands metteurs en scène italiens.

Quel grand et beau souvenir, quel talent.

What a great artist and magician! Playing a "second rate" role (dumb comic magician where things go "wrong"), not a role that particularly flatters one's ego... true art and mad skills in action; very few people can achieve this level of conviction and enthusiasm. Yes; he performed with a lot of enthusiasm remaining in character at all times... wonderful! (Idea inspired from Magic and Showmanship by Henning Nelms, "Casting Yourself").

.... jeepers!... I remember this guy when I was a kid!... a very funny act... for 1961... I think he was a little before his time, even the live audience weren't too sure what was going on half the time

Mon grand-père adorait ce comique et je me souviens d'avoir beaucoup ri en sa compagnie aux pitreries de ce magnifique illusionniste au visage si expressif, nous avons tant besoin de rires et de joies en ces temps si troublées...

rire oui mais...le rire est un moyen des plus puissants d'endormissement des masses avec le sport, et de propagande. quand on voit les programmes dits humoristiques "en ces temps" il n'est pas étonnant que les gouvernements notamment en union européenne manipulent aussi facilement les opinions de populations anesthésiées à l'esprit critique atrophié. d'ailleurs où sont les grands comiques de nos jours? on peut chercher, il n y en a plus beaucoup, en particulier en France: en dictature, on n'a pas besoin de bouffon chez les dirigeants, pour dire les choses qui ne marchent pas. on impose des choses qui divisent et détruisent. aidé en cela par les médias qui "créent" leurs clowns: les opposants, politiciens et lanceurs d'alerte, accusés d'être des complotistes, par ceux-là mêmes qui étaient hier censés représenter la contre pensée.

Oui, et il m'a fait énormément rire dans l'Aile ou la Cuisse, la (trop) courte séance où Monsieur Ronay joue un sommelier quelque peu maladroit.

J'ai eu la chance de le voir sur scène, à Versailles, au congrès de la Magie, où il a démonté tous les nouveaux tours créés au cours de l'année. Nombre de pros riaient jaune, mais c'était irrésistible. La magie comique attire peu d'artistes, mais celui-ci était le meilleur qui ait jamais exercé.

E ' stato la storia delle gag in tv. Meraviglioso e stupendo. Nessuno come lui. Il muto che faceva ridere!!McRoney💖💖👏👍😢😢

J'ai grandi en le voyant très très souvent a la télé. En France il y avait 3 chaines de tv . Il apparaît dans certains films. C'est génial 😁

@@miked4152 They were probably both influenced by someone from the 1920s. Possibly an Egyptian, Indian or Chinese. Those traditions predate France.

@@miked4152 Mac Ronay came first. Tommy Cooper basically copied his act but also spoke. Tommy even copied a lot of Ronay’s tricks.

I saw him at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, and on tv, in my teen-age years. He was very good (and an American artist, btw :)
