Mac McDermott accepts his Creative Fundraiser of the Year award

Mac’s dad Ted used to travel the country singing in clubs. He now has Alzheimer’s. His memory has deteriorated, but singing really helps him. By sharing videos of his dad singing his favourite hits, Mac’s raised over £130,000 for Alzheimer’s Society.

I was a caregiver for my mother in law for several years. Alzheimers diease is just a beast of a disease. The caregivers trade living for just existing. Your own life becomes an anchor to the who is so terribly ill. My MIL was already living with us when she was diagnosed. We knew she had it long before she was actually diagnosed. If you know anyone who is a caregiver, why not show some love & give the carer a break by staying with the loved one for a bit. Trust me, it is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for the awareness of what happens with illness and 24/7 care. Your words express exactly how life changes for family from an ordinary day of health to one of injury and illness. You have an amazing mom, and she has an amazing son. Congratulations on award!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on this award. It's amazing how you work with your dad, so full of love. It's a joy to see you driving in the car with your dad while he is singing. Your eyes are gleaming then.
