Mac McClung NBA Preseason Highlights (10/20/23) Magic Vs Flamenco (11 pts, 3 rebounds)

Mac had a solid night with 11 pts on 3-6 shooting, 3 boards, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 turnover. His competition for the final roster spots, Queen and Williams also looked good though, and it's hard to take too much from this game as the Flamenco team was overwhelmed and almost certainly below a G League team talent wise.
I'm guessing the Magic will make their decision within the next 24 hours about which of the 3 between Mac, Queen, and Williams will get the final 2 way slot. While Mac seems to make the most sense, given he's the best 3 point shooter of the bunch and can also increase popularity for one of the least popular teams in the NBA, looking at the minutes over the preseason, Queen would seem to be far ahead, and even Williams has logged about 3 more minutes than Mac. It's also very possible that means nothing though, I guess we'll find out soon.

Apparently they gave Queen the 2 way, Mac has been waived. Looks like another year grinding in the G League on another team with a crowded backcourt and 2 point guards in Mac and Williams that deserve to start... wonder how they will distribute minutes.

Ok he's looking pretty good here. I'm glad they're giving him more minutes and a better look. It's hard to showcase your skills when you're given like 3 or 4 minutes of playing time to work with. This falls more in line with what he can give a team. The lob was thrown under the basket or he would've flushed it, he's done it a thousand different times... and he would've flushed that poster dunk if not for the foul. Dude didn't want to be on a poster this evening. Hard to blame him. Lol.

If Mac is going to the G League then I am about to burn my DeVos family photos. I could only hope he blows up the G team stats and makes it impossible to not bring him back up. What else does he have do? He has the three, faster down the court than most, jumps higher than many of the big's, finds open man, can split a two or even a three man defense, dunks high and hard, of course, and more heart. I could go own but will end with this,... he has the sky-hook with either hand, either side.

Those two fouls he got as he went for the dunks was absolutely bad sportsmanship. I would have been heated. Players that suck are really good at fouling you whenever you get the upper hand on any situation. Neither of those guys wanted Mac dunking on them. Mac needs to stand up for himself against players like these. He can’t let himself get bullied. It’s sad the NBA doesn’t want a white kid to be one of the stars of the league. He’s being blocked from making it in the NBA.

I've been an NBA fan for a long time and I feel like I know the game pretty well. But...I'm far from understanding it like an NBA scout. To me, it seems like Mac should be on an NBA roster. I know all of the negatives scouts say about him...he's too small, his wingspan is one of the shortest in the NBA and he's not elite at anything but dunking. That doesn't mean he can't improve and contribute if given the chance. If Mac doesn't make an NBA roster soon, I hope he goes overseas and starts making some bigger money. He can definitely play in the best leagues in Europe and China is also paying exciting players well. Bball careers are relatively short and it'd be nice to see Mac start raking in 1 million+ salaries so he can financially set himself up for life...or get as close as possible.

Let's be honest here. He would abuse most starters. It's a crime he isn't starting somewhere. The game is too easy for him. It's like he's on cruise control whenever he's out there.

Reminds of a young Jason Kidd, or Chris Mullins. Listen to me, I sound like some old school scout. I should say something like "Reminds me of a young Bob Cousy."

😮😮😮 I can't believe they barely let him play and he gets waived. He should just go to Europe.

sign him to the league minimum, he will definitely need some $$ for some more tat's to fit in with the rest of the NBA.

I’m glad you noticed that. It didn’t leave, he is just playing with elite athletes now. He can jump, but they all seem to jump higher and if they can’t jump higher then they are waaaaaaay taller. Basketball in the nba is winning the genetic lottery. And max didn’t win the genetic lottery
