I think def on the conservative side. And there are very few hip hop, rap, (whatever term you use) artists out there. Love him or hate him he has a niche and he is doing well, more power to him. What I dont get is all the people saying he doesn't know the history or doesn't deserve to be in that genre or whatever probably have never heard of Coke La Rock, or DJ Kool Herc, which is arguably the start of it. I would say 99% of tge current rap artists have no idea who those two were. But no one can argue Tom has a fan base, and who cares if some of them are 70 year old grandmas, people hear something they like good for them, enjoy what you want. Hell most of what I listen to people have never heard of and probably won't like, all good for me.

If you wonder why Tom's fans don't like rap, it may be that they don't -- yet. Tom, Upchurch, Byson Gray can be gateway rappers for this new audience. They're adding a new group to the culture. My gateway rapper was Hi Rez. I moved on to Byson Gray, America, then discovered T-Mac, who's my fave. I finally tried Eminem, Dax, Nova, Snow tha Product, King Crooked, & loved them all. I've heard very little of Pac, but liked him too. They're mostly indies & they don't diss women, except Em. But Em disses everyone, so he got me into diss tracks. Which got me into Knox Hill, a fine MC in his own right & fantastic at diss tracks. Gateway rappers. Tom's a good one.

How refreshing to see somebody actually be unbiased with their reaction. There are only a few that I’ve seen that remained unbiased and gave their opinion. so many don’t understand how battle rap works , but you clearly do! I think this is going to get wild. Boyd, if you read this, I would love to see you react to Greydon Square's "Summer's Ending." You should have lyrics up from Genius to break down a lot of stuff. This man says so much that will go over a lot of people's heads. Greydon is the ONLY rapper to ever make me open a dictionary. He has the same old story about a rapper from Compton, Gang Bangin' Dope Boy from a broken home. He got busted at 17, tried as an adult and was given a choice between prison, or the Army. Right after he graduated boot camp 9/11 happen, and he was sent to 82nd Airborne for the initial invasions of Ramadi and Falluja. He changed his life after the military and left Compton, moved to Arizona, and went to college for computer science, and studies mathematics and astrophysics for fun, and this is the primary subject of most of his music. He's 100% independent. Doesn't want fame, or any of the poisonous things that come with it. He's just a quiet combat veteran telling stories and trying to impact people in a positive way.

I feel like Mac set up some straw dumbies with a picture of Tom and Nova and started wildly swinging at it like a spaz. The rap is good but it just feels cringe and sad. He got this butt hurt over a tiny line that didn't even use his name.

The Em bar has some validity, but not as much as lethal wants it to. D12 was disbanded (no longer a group) in 2018. Dear Slim dropped in 2021. Lethal went on tour last year with Swifty of D12. So he toured with one guy, not the group in so far as I know. Its kinda of a strech. I will say, had lethal came with this kind of energy the first go around with tom. he would have removed him from hip-hop. No way Tom would have recovered.

You know what would make an epic diss towards tom, and his name would never even have to be mentioned? Eminem ft. Mac Lethal.

The thing that too many people don't get is that people who have influence live with that reality and sometimes, not most of the time, doing publicity with charity can cause a lot of other people to do the same. Sometimes it's better to show what you're giving and to whom.

So you where asking why some people say they don't like rap but like Tom. I can't speak for others but for me the reason I don't like most rap is just because they talk about women, drugs, drinking ext. I know Tom has had song about drugs and drinking but in most of those cases he is talking about how he has recovered from it. I know there is probably more rappers out there that I would like but I'm not really looking for that genre of music in general. The only reason I know about Tom is because I stubled upon Knox Hills Clown World breakdown one day.

You should listen to some of Eminem's older stuff, like The Eminem Show, Mockingbird, etc. He has songs about real, relatable shit, and the songs he does have that are about women are basically satrizing the songs you're talking about.

Tom had that dig on him in God Mode talking about destroying his career (Mac went on to several cyphers and other projects to include touring with Swifty McVay) and that it caused his divorce (he’s still married and wasn’t divorced). So Mac had enough and dropped this. It’s not a continuation of some 5 year old battle. Nice try though.
