I've tried several different capture devices, but all has 'tiny' lag which can't seemed to avoid. The lag won't notice for casual gaming, but longer you play into the game, you'll definitely feel lag. So my solution is getting a 27" monitor (should get a 32"), used as extended screen for iMac and for console gaming.
THANK YOU! This is exactly the video I was looking for.

Wow so grateful for this. Thanks man
One thing to keep in mind as that I’d recommend this for casual games and not competitive. There are degrees of input latency especially if you plan to capture and stream at the same time. There’s also the genki shadowcast for 50$ which is ultra convenient but again, meant for casual games

@@NonZeroPossibility08 I would say that just making sure you don’t use your monitor as a screen would be best. So playing on a regular tv that’s hooked up to a capture card to a computer would be the best way to go. There’s just nothing out there that’s 100% true lagless input as far as I know

Great video man! I'm a huge fan.
Interesting, there's always going to be an unavoidable lag converting the signal from source to a capture card and then to the final display device. Definitely a worthy attempt at resolving this issue though. Yesterday, I picked up an LG 27" 4k 400 nits, usbc hub with power delivery display for $260 open box, 27UP80B-W. These usbc screens have had their prices slashed in recent months, making the Apple Displays even more of a difficult purchase.
Holy hell this was the most straight forward and helpful thing ever. Love this and love the channel. Thanks for the tutorial

This is useful. Thank you sir for sharing.
Just bought this based on the video. Should be noted that there is definitely a slight input latency in faster paced games such as FPS/fighting games. If you're even a slightly above casual player who cares about not being handicapped by performance, I wouldn't recommend this solution. Going to return this ASAP.

Hello, I bought this device this year. but there is one problem - you can no longer download this program for Mac from the elgato website. what to do?
Hey Jerry, I have a quick question. First off, Great video! It also works for HD60S for the people who want to know. What I want to do is to use this to record gameplay AND audio from party chats all on one computer. I can hear myself talking in the recordings I’ve made because I bought the elgato chat link which is going through from my controller into the capture card but I can’t hear my friends. I think it’s because Xbox party chats can ONLY output through TV speakers, but because there is no actual actual “TV” audio output going into the computer, it doesn’t work. which is why the recording doesn’t pick up their voices. Thoughts? Is there any way to fix this? Regardless, Awesome video!
Question, you said you could get 1080p at 60 fps.. could you reduce 1080p to maybe 720, and get a higher frame rate? Thanks for the vid, super helpful!
Hey Jerry Schulze! Great Vid! Cant we just plug a HDMI cable from the Xbox to Mac and use Max's strong resolution to play?
Hi, does it also work if using USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter from Apple? And is it a must to download the app?
Super cool idea - I like my xbox for gaming more than other options anyway.

I was surprised how good it actually is.
im stuck at the screen link option. I don't get any of the options or showing of any cables plugged into the iMac to connect the Nintendo to the Elgato app. I tried all the different thunderbolts. plsss help
Its not reading that my capture card is connected to my imac. The rest seems pretty simple. Not sure why its not reading though. Thoughts?
How are you guys experiencing no input lag? I bought the latest elgato and connected to my M2 pro macbook to play PS5 on my XDR display but there's definitely input lag and quite big. It's such a big difference from directly connecting my PS5 to an LG screen for instance.. (???)
hey, why can’t i plug it from the hdmi in the xbox with a usbc cable right into the imac?
This was very good video I have a question if you have the time to answer I have a HD video capture AGPTEK Device (to record into my usb) I have been able to use it on my MacBook Air I have been using it with my Genki shadow cast I know it’s Frame rate is a bit choppy, but I’m interested in getting myself a hdmi adapter cable and I was wondering if the adapter could work as a output for use/recording for better frame rate?
So im pretty sue i know the answer to this question but i gotta double check, Is this the ONLY way to use this iMac as a display for a console(using the capture card)? Or is there some magic adapter you can use for the same purpose...
My question is, I have a little Lention USB-C hub. I do not wanna buy this elgato thing. Will the xbox work if i use the usb-c hub instead of the device (elgato thinng)?
Does a USB C to a HDMI adapter work too? Or does it actually have to be a capture card and all that
so this is pretty much just a capture card right? can i use any capture card to translate the xbox onto my iMac for gaming? only gaming and not recording
this was really helpful

will the Kanex XD HDMI to Mini Displayport Converter- iMac 27 inch to HDTV work on this new Imac 2021 to play xbox on

Can Obs do the same thing? I will be using some other capture card because I can't find the elgato game capture

Can I use a normal usb-c to hdmi convertor instead of the HD60S+ ??
Is there a window mode option? I don't want to play full-screen, I just want a resize-able window.
Dose this still work for m3 imacs? I'm buying a hd60 just from this video so I hope it works.

When you try to play Fortnite with this thing, is it going to will it keep the latest version of Fortnite or will it delay it so its v13.40 like when you try to download Fortnite through the Epic Games Launcher. Respond as fast as you can please before I buy the Xbox knowing I won't be able to play the latest version?
Ok, for those who have tried this solution: What's laggier, streaming HDMI 60hz 1080p output with these kind of devices or streaming through Xbox Cloud Gaming? Are the semi-cheap ones capable to stream at 4K? I could maybe stand a tiny bit of lag for certain games, but Xbox Cloud Gaming was always unplayable for me. I do have a PC tower and a Xbox One, I would love to use this solution with the compromise of a tiny bit of tolerable lag.
@JerrySchulze
Жыл бұрын
Lag was not an issue for me and like you when I tried cloud gaming it was terrible.
Thanks alot for doing this, partially in response to a post I made.😻 That's the best game play I ever seen on the M1 machines, even the xbox one x has 6 teraflops vs m1 2.7 teraflops. No streaming lag like gamepass, strada, etc, or subscription needed, if you already have the games, it could actually pay for itself. And with game pass you can download the games and play them all lag free, I think or even use the ethernet port for faster downloading and gaming. I see they have a 4K 60 version too, which gives your newer consoles, ps5, xbox series x uhd movie disks and games playback, which will look great on the 4.5K and 5K iMac screens, so now your iMac can play the highest quality commercial movies releases, or red box rentals, cheaper than apple store rentals.. without any streaming issues or costs. Should be great with the 27" iMac too. Hopefully manufacturers will see this and add hdmi in, on their all in ones and laptops, especially the 4K and OLED Copy protection ruins it from being perfect. I will try this with my 27" imac, and mac mini for fun. Ouch! ..It's not Cheap!🤫😳

@@JerrySchulze Yea I don't think people can relate macs and gaming together, so they go right past to the next video. I would have got in trouble by click baiting the below statement, with thumbnails of the best xbox games. "M1 Gaming Like You Never Seen before, add hundreds of the latest games at High quality 1080P 60 frames per second". Never the less, I think this video is one of, if not the most unique ones, on the m1 iMac, and many people, actually want to do this, they just never thought about it. The makers of the capture card, probably have not even thought of using the iMac this way, surely Apple has not. If they can get that card down to $99, it would be an awesome deal, if you already own a console that is.
This is so interesting. Im wondering if this could work to capture video from an external PC if you connect it via HDMI? My point is that I would like to use an M1 iMac as an external monitor for a PC but so far there doesnt seem to be any way to do this. Is this something you might be able to do a test on?
