M51 The Whirlpool Galaxy.

This is how I Captured Messier 51 the Whirlpool galaxy.
3 hours luminance with a L-Pro filter.
1 hour each of R.G.B. and 2 hours of H alpha.
N.I.N.A was the capture software which is free and highly recommended.
Total intergration is 8 hours stacked and processed with PixInsight.
Equipment;
Sky-watcher 120Ed.
Sky-watcher 72Ed.
Sky-watcher 8 Quattro.
Meade 10 Sct O.T.A.
Sky-watcher Neq6 Pro
belt modded.
Player One Saturn M.
Uncooled Camera.
ZWO Asi 533MCPro.
Software;
PixInsight.
Blur Xterminator.
Noise Xterminator.
Star Xterminator.

    That's a great result Rob, M51 is definitely one of my favorite galaxies. The Ha filter really helps bring out the nebulosity in the spiral arms.

    Thank you Tony. The 120 ed native is 900 mm. Thats what i took it as. Not even a field flattener. Clear skies mate

    Question. You have a OSC 533MC. You took three hours with a filter, L-Pro. I understand that. How do you get RGB for an hour. Did you just remove the L-Pro filter? How do you capture the Ha with a OSC? Did you use another filter? I’ve seen others use L-Enhance on OSC. Can you explain this in more detail. I’m pretty new to this. I have a ASI071MC and would like to try your process. Beautiful results. Thanks.

    Hello. I think you missed it in the beginning. I was using the player one saturn M which is a mono camera and rgb filters. You can capture data with a one shot coloue camera using a h alpha filter then add it into you rgb. I used the L Pro to capture my luminance as the light pollution is pretty bad here in London. Hope this clears it up for you. Ps thats a nice camera you have. Clear skies
