Sherman are an all rounder , it's good but never great, the Panzer 4 only excelled in speed and firepower , the armor is flat which means it's virtally paper thin for most enemies even for the G variant compairing to the sherman which has sloped which even though increases the armor effectiveness also decreases the incoming shell's penetration capabilities a little bit which makes the M4A1 a good tank against most enemy at that BR but the A1 variant has the cast hull which exposed the 38mm side armour to even the most lightly armed vehicle, the Panzer 4 on the other hand can destroy any tank frontally with it's HV gun but lack stabiliser which means it's bad at close quarter, but experience players can compensate this weakness by timing their shot once the reticle lined up with the target. so i'd recommend laying the M4A3 instead which eliminates the cast turret of the M4A1 and the flat faced armor of Radio op and driver on the M4A2

@@arustwat7766 (RB) is all about finding your best spot on each map early and evolving your gameplay around this location. Your optimal spot is watching 2 highly contestet zones and has a good back door. Midgame if you feel like 1 flank is opening from your spot appreach carefully to keep pressure, listen to close enemys and move slowly further. Always imagine where the enemy would drive, than dont drive there but search for a position thats watching that spot from an favorable angle.

@@arustwat7766 jumbo front armor is immune to Panther and Tiger I shots (except for MG port of course, but it’s only hittable at close range)

Pz iv f2 never used smoke. Seems the crew just forgot to load them. It could had made a difference on round 2 or harder on round 3.

Smoke wouldn't have been useful in the third round. Its like 4kmh reverse or something? Plus they were super close so all snoke would do would be harder to hit a weak point but the sherman can destroy it almost anywhere anyway

Suggestion: It could be interesting to compare the result of the duel versus the real statistics in game.For example if the sherman is wining in this episode, what says the stats recorded by Gaijin? How many Panzer IV F2 knocked out by a M4A1 and how many M4A1 knocked out by Panzer IV F2. It could be funny to compare, and probably helps the owner to better use their tank...

@@emergency_broadcast_system I play us, german, and ussr. When I use f2 or G, Im never afraid of sherman or any us tank at that rank. But what Im afraid of is turan (italian tank), that thing has a very good armour. edit: to be honest either the sherman or f2, I think it depends on your preference. For me Personally, I rather choose to have a gun with a great penetration (high chance of 1 shot kill everytime). Although If you like the nimble sherman you can go for it, it has a good stabilizer and for m4a2 you can angled it and it will turn you into a 4.0 br tiger. For my playstyle in that rank, I would run with m4a2 and m10 for my main tank

They are not enough pauses between every "motivational" shout out they did to hype up the fight, it even decreased the immersion and exictement by overdoing the commentary. Like they were commenting after every single breath they took

I like both tanks realy much with the Sherman you can tank much and have a strong gun but i like the pz.4 more cause of his gun wich can easily one shot any tank at his br or even up(excepted for kv1 and 2 )

Even though both are very different in how they play, both tanks are amazing tanks. I’ve said it before in the previous episodes, I’m a German main and love the Pz.IV F2, with its amazing cannon, nice maneuverability and a great sniper. Besides the 76 model, the M4A1 75 is my favorite American Sherman. It’s really good at close range and does a nice job at bouncing, scooting and shooting and a good enough gun to brawl with. I totally agree that the Sherman can win most engagements as while the panzer is great, it’s only real trump card is that it punches at long range. The Sherman just does everything else better. Great way to end the season

Sad thing is they recently nerfed the Sherman so the front plate can get penetrated by T-34s (not just 57mm) at 200m or less if it isn't angled

@@andrewtibbetts2695 I think it’s always been able to be penned by a Russian 57mm. The armor is weird on shermans. I’ve bounced 88mm tiger 1 shots point blank in a m4a1 76. Without an angle.

Really balanced battle, altough it doesn't mean anything. The first match told us something about the capabilities of the vehicles, but the 3rd is...ehh that's the part that I can't understand. I'm not a pro player but I would never ever open fire on the move not just with a Panzer IV but with any WW2 era vehicles. It wasn't about the tanks. That bad deccision decided the match. I'm sure if the German commander is more patient now we would celebrate a German victory. But I have to admit this was the most exciting tank versus. I can't wait for the next season.

The german commander panicked. What he tried to do was understandable since you shouldn't be all too patient when you're opponent is stablized and right in front of you. Always try to take the first shot

most germans don't angle their tigers. Before the 76 Jumbo was moved up, I just drove around and clicking at tiger's front plate. they could have at least angled the hull and stopped my first shot, or go for my track and barrel. When you face a good tiger player, it is really tough to knock out, unless you drive a long-90mm pershing With the 75 sherman, I cannot reliably one-shot a tiger, neither can they shoot me in the front. But the tiger can delete every one of my teammate and I can't even knock out a panzer IV reliably.

@@yuxuanhuang3523 I can shoot a jumbo's barrel with a 128mm or a 122mm and have a perfectly perpendicular impact, it will still homerun the shell like a tennis ball In the other hand if any jumbo shoots at the track they knock out the barrel It's just how it works I don't blame the skissuefull Germains for crying out on jumbos lmao

Maybe if the Panzer IV F2 did what a Panzer IV F2 should do, play conservatively, reduce the profile shown to the enemy, snipe and be sure to get the first shot right, it would have won. But it instead it relied on brute strength and rushing the enemy, then backtracking meekly when in trouble.

it really should have won, you can even bounce shots from that sherman if you actually tried. basically this panzer iv was played by one of the "I am invincible" players. not a smart one

The fact the M4 used it’s machine guns to knock out the Pz. IV’s tracks was the best. That’s how M4 players dominate, using the mighty M2 to immobilize their enemies.

I’d say that for either one to win it would have to be where the location of the battle takes place or the range between them. I would say that the Pz lV would win in a long distance engagement while the M4A1 would win at a close engagement. It could also depend on who is driving the tank

The f2 has a good gun yes, the Sherman has a pretty decent gun too, but the Sherman has a stabilizer and can be very deadly at CQC, as shown. I’ve played them both and like them both, to me, the panzer 4s are better at long range than the 75mm shermans, but the shermans are better at urban combat cause of the stabilizer

@@ps4_gamer that it true, I have had issues penning a panzer 4 H when it’s angles like a tiger, and the T-34 ain’t fun to fight anymore cause my old tactic of taking out the breech don’t work anymore for some reason. But I’ve had more good games with my Shermans than my panzer 4s, just a matter of preference and skill I guess

Great tanks, unfair rounds. Obviously mid to short range will be dominated by the Sherman, but try fighting at 800+ meters? Anyhow, its been a great first season, hopefully there will be evolution to 3 tanks vs each other🤣

Actual fighting distance for WW2 era tanks were around 300 to 500 meters so 800+ meters doesn't even make sense. Also Sherman performs much better in the distance (as it had better crew comfort and optics but these arent represented in-game) because it has the armor advantage. Shermans shells can penetrate the Panzer IV even from a kilometer away but the Panzer IV starts to struggle after 500 meters, because Panzer IV has paper thin armor (50mms flat in front turret and upper front plate, also 20mm middle front plate) while the Sherman has up to 100mm of effective armor, 140mm if you include gun mantlet.

@@mnd9166 All fantastic statistics mate. I'd prefer a Pz4 G before I get in a Sherman. Yes, its comfy, but soon you will learn what reality is, being Cooked and not even knowing where the shot came from, because actual fighting distance for ww2 era tanks is only 300 to 500 metres. It is a fantastic piece of machine that won the war, but the Panzer was already effective before the Sherman was even in conception. In this game, the Sherman is a great force. But, read the reports closely of actual battles and the losses British and American forces suffered with the M4A1. Its not as fantastic as the victors of WW2 and the cold war make it out to be. I wonder why the Panther tank was so renowned? Check its real life reports and especially those who fought against it's after action reports.

@@SRC2387 The first time Panzer IV's had the actual long barreled 75mm gun, Sherman was a conception and was being developed. Panzer IV was one of the most unreliable tanks of WW2 as it was a tank designed to be 16tons but ended up being 28+ tons, therefore many things like suspension breaking frequently. Optics in Sherman were better so your chances of getting the first shot aswell as seeing where you were shot from would be easier. Also check the crew survival rates for both tanks, germans had it so low.

I admit every other Sherman I’ve played was good but the M4A1 was the tank that I struggled

Anyone who played Germany religiously in Company of Heroes 2 should know how important Panzer Iv was in holding the line against T34 and KV1 until more powerful tanks like Panther arrived to change the tide.

Tiger 2 vs Pershing would be cool to see

The Sherman wins this? Who's playing the game? Obviously the Panzer IV F2 is by far superior in every aspect! I scored so many kills with the F2, even against higher BR due to the great KWK Gun.

I got a higher k/d ratio on the Panzer 4 but a higher win rate with the Sherman. Both are great tanks, if played by skilled players. I think the highest kills I did with the panzer 4 is 12 kills but average 4 to 6 per game. With the Sherman, I average 3 to 6 but the highest kills I made with the Sherman is 9 I believe.

Decent show, the commentary could use work. But this tends to show the skill of the operators more than the ability of the vehicles themselves.

Gaijin, I need an explanation about ARB, You guys have to top tier a large map's and put all in one place, bases, ground units, etc. You guys can separate all on the map. we have Jets engines, not propeller engines? Sometimes, we want to accomplish missions that only have a role strike in ARB, but it is hard when we have everything in one spot where other players are locking us with sparrow at the start of the match.

Really curious to how this one plays out.

depends upon liking of the player if the player wants a big and acurrate gun than the pz 4 is the best choice in the tier otherwise if you want mobility and turret turn rate then the m1 is better

The Panzer IV is more agile/maneuverable than the Sherman.

scenario 2: a tank behind building vs a tank on the open street, i wonder who is going to win? Scenario 3: Pz iv didnt even turn its turret. All in all pz iv survived 2 direct hits without damage, sherman survived because building got hit. Pz iv has same front hull armor as sherman, has way better gun and is faster forwards and backwards (while having less horsepower). Dont need the stabilizer if you know what your doing. Only disadvantage is that sherman has better turret armor. Summa summarum: Pz IV is easily the better tank .

I know 2 two thing wikipedia is not a data bibel, and this 2 tank meet each othoer on the field. BUT the sherman was built knowing the pz 4, and knowing the american need specs (delivering, and maintaining far-far away from the original factorys). The PZ4 is a war veteran started planing in 1934 the first used serie is 1942 in this time shokingly many things changed just the combustion engine alone have big jump, the guns get obsolite even on the first version 1 year later. The F2 variant was the best economicly posible, we made this exist G,H,J version to white stronger front armor, different gun.... The M4 after the M3 "disaster" in 1940 (6 year later as pz4) after some captured german, italian, japanes tnaks and shared english studies the m4 role out of the factories. close enough to m3 to mass produce, modular enough, maintain and delivery inclusive and get ont field in 1942 (the pz4 modified to F2 not new from base) the first was not to bad, just not enough again a new a german tanks. (in 1944 and i know different doctrine from different nations.)*

Great show. Would like to see more of it for sure. I think it would be cool to make them 2v2 or 3v3 similar to Spike's "Deadliest Warrior". Tanks don't really do 1v1 in real life and tactics are key. Also longer battles. Maybe best of 5 instead to give teams a chance.

Why tf did the panzer never used smokes??!?? And why did you invent this new $&!t way of compering tanks, the shooting range method was wayyyy better ( it showed armor specifications, shell types AND DIDN'T compare tanks with made up scenarios (JUST DO A TANK TRIATHLON LIKE IN THE SHOOTING RANGE))

One day I'm gonna afford me one of them expensive vehicles so I can have a huge advantage in a game that's definitely not pay to win because actually working your way up thru many hours of gameplay is inferior to paying your way to the top.
