My favorite and least favorite swedish airplane: JAS39 Gripen. I love it because its simply epic. I hate it because i live in an area with a active airspace, and those fudgers dont care that im asleep when they come zooming by.

I killed 3 Viggens in a row in my F-8. The F-8 kinda clubs it, but that is probably due to how the Crusader specifically performs. Viggen is still a pretty good 11.0 though, but better against planes like Phantoms and MiG-23s.

I did that in 1 Viggen 🤣. Amazingly fun top tier aircraft, And an excellent missile bus. Stock grind was horrible at 11.0 as it is with most aircraft 🤣

And for the aircraft engines we reverse engineered and replicated during ww2, the government set up a royalties escrow account that was paid out to the patent owning US and Brittish companies after the war. I don't know if Bofors and Nobel dynamit AB demanded royalties for the corresponding US and UK production of the 40mm m/36 AA gun and it's ammo or if that was a pre-war contract already established in a way that could be easily extended with a few diplomatic telegrams or dispatches possible even in the middle of the war.

I used to have a neighbor who worked for Saab, he was stationed at my country during the SAAB2000 ERIEYE deliveries.

The draken truly is amazing. The fact its first flight was in 1955 is incredible, and even today in 2021 it still looks thoroughly modern I can't say that about any other aircraft made by the US or Soviets during that same time period, most stuff that flew in 1955 looks very antiquated today.

generally speaking whenever SAAB has introduced a plane it has been ahead of its time and quite dominating, this is especially true for the early jets (with A21 being the exception, but this is just a prop plane that was given a jet engine). Originally Gaijin actually specifically said they would not add sweden to the game because the swedish jets would be way too overpowered compared to other jets of the same era, the original cut off date was therefore put just before draken. but we all know how that went, gaijin changed their plans, added sweden, and decided to make almost every single swedish tank and plane underperform compared to publically available real performance stats of the vehicles. this is especially true for the swedish airplanes, where ripspeeds in game can be several hundred kmh slower than airframe damage speeds irl. gaijin solved it by just purposely making every single swedish vehicle unrealistically bad.

@@AshleyPomeroy Even today. How many "leading fighters" flying today have proper datalink systems? The J35 Draken had it from the beginning. Cleverly hidden away on the dashboard was a seemingly normal clock. The system could receive analog radio signals and display messages and target data.

6:35 the Saab 29 Tunnan was actually used in combat in congo in the early 1960s, despite lots of groundfire, none of them were lost in combat, the only losses happened because of accidents, one of theese planes can nowadays be seen at the swedish air force museum in linköping.

Got to see both the SAAB Draken and the Viggen at an air show in Belgium in 1982. The Belgian AF was transitioning from the F-104 Starfighter to the F-16 at the time.

Sweden is by far my favourite faction in War Thunder! Every one of their vehicles feels unique compared to their competitors and gives me a reason to use them over say USSR or Japanese tech tree vehicles

The Draken is my fave plane. In fact, I have a (pre-made) model on my shelf, feeling all left out among game figures from the likes of Mass Effect and Zelda. When can we see more versions? With the Viggen in the game, I'm hoping to see the J35J and Danish Strike Draken. Oh, and a cool thing I'd like to see is the pointy-nosed Lansen which Saab used to test the Draken's radar.

If your tank runs out of battery yes the reload for Russian tanks becomes like 30 seconds.

Fun Fact: if you look around on the left side of the J21's cockpit, you can find a medkit, which ofc cant heal your pilot

@@kajetus0688 That doesn't mean they don't put effort into the game though? As much as we players complain, you can't deny that they put a lot of effort into the game. Maybe they should put more effort into the game, but that still doesn't mean they don't put effort in.

I love that Swedish tech tree, I can't wait to see the Gripen joining the list sooner or later. And for those players who already get into Saab's cars I guess they had that good feeling of being inside an aircraft, especially at night when the console get illuminated.

They made great cars too!

As we all know there was a good reason to plan for the road base system in Sweden. We had a lot of planes in those days but not many military air bases.All vehicles was designed to take cover in the Swedish woods. The narrow off road trucks is an example. As a wheel loader operator of my green VOLVO LM BM 864, I easily made a stealthy camp space with the white tip plow. Stones and stumps turned into nice flat roads. I loved those missions.

Sweden was, for UN, involved in a war in Congo 1961-1964. There several J29 (nicknamed "Tunnan" or in English "the barrel") were in use and other parts of Swedish forces.

The B18B is great for CAS, the two 600kg bombs are always good for a few frags. The rockets pack a punch as well

by far my favorite Swedish aircraft is the lansen. With its charming looks, and incredible multi role ability's, it has rightfully earned a spot in my favorite planes list.

The Swedish Air tree was a fantastic experience. (Perhaps excluding T4) I thoroughly enjoyed flying, fighting and filming in all the airframes. Bra gjort sverige!!

I love swedish designs so much, if i had to design a tank plane combo it would basically just be the s tank and draken. Imo its like their engineers just looked at what was ideal in other vehicles and cranked it up to 11

there is a lot of swedish stuff you can add gaijin but the more important issue is the repair costs it’s not fair. their tanks are so expensive that you will not make a profit most games unless you NEVER die

They need to lower all high repair costs. I propose there should be 3 tiers, with light tanks having a repair cost of about 2000 sl, medium 3000sl, and heavies 4000sl. There should not be any difference between tanks, and definitely not countries (think British/USA Br 7.0ish vs Germany for example). Some tanks are literally unplayable because of their repair costs (i.e. Ferdinand). Please Gaijin.

My grandfather was a mechanic on SAAB aircraft, mainly the J29

Living in Hungary, near a Combat Training Zone, I gotta love the JAS39 Gripen. I witnessed the Sonic Boom happening at the distance, and a lot of Trucks (and other ground based combat vehicles, even MBTs, mostly on train) driving around my place. I kinda want to go visit their base to see the planes from closer.

What would be a more impressive engineering feat would be implementing Legacy UI options for Naval, since some capability was lost in the "Direct Hit" update.

Saab J-29 were used in combat during the UN Mission in Congo in the 60s.

The planes at 1:15 are of course Gloster Gladiators, imported from the UK. Svenska Aero's Jaktfalken looked very much like it but had an open cockpit. You can see Jaktfalken at 1:50. It was a lot slower than the Gladiator. The plane at 1:40 is a Junkers 86, probably built under license in Sweden. The plane at 2:26 is a Fiat CR42. They were imported from Italy. Another plane that deserves to be mentioned is the J22, not built by Saab but by FFVS, two of them shown at 10:10 here (along with a Regianne 2000 Falco, imported from Italy). A much more conventional design than the J21 and could therefore enter service much quicker.

My dad was a mechanic for the sk60 in the very late 80s to early 90s

J29A Tunnan (Tunnan = Barrel from the form) was in fight during UN Congo and was known to land with several shoots straight through the engine. It impressed the other allies fighter pilots.

my dad who i have inherited a big interest in millarty history, often talks about the Draken. It partly due to that the danish airforce used the Draken since 1971 until the 1990ies - its often with a sense of wonder that he talks about it. It great to try it out in Warthunder. Its also the first jet plane that i have tried in the game.

SAAB 35 Draken Is still my favorite! Remember that A32 Lansen was intended to be further developed to carry Swedish made atomic weapons, until the early/mid 60s.

Well, adding the Volvo pvpjtgb 9011 and 1111 as well as the Hägglunds Pvrbbv 2061 at BR 5.x, 6.x and 7.x respectively wouldn't be unreasonable imo.

I think you forgot something important, or rather interesting, regarding the SAAB 21. It was the second aircraft equipped with an ejection seat at it's launch in 1943, the first beeing the He 219. The placement of the propeller necessitated a way for the pilot to escape the aircraft if needed, and an ejection seat was the only way possible to see to that.

Saab is definitely one of my favourite company the planes are just super interesting and also I own and drive a Saab 9-3 Viggen

There's one story that's really tragic about this plane. 5:45 . The J21RA was the plane chosen by the pilots that flew over kullaberg almost every week in 1950. There was one time where it didn't go to plan... These 4 pilots were just chilling doing their thing, and decided to give the now common audience something to look at by going lower to the ground. They didn't just go lower to the ground, they went INTO the ground. All 4. Kullaberg is a mountain located around the middle left beach, on a small little island that pops out of the mainland, and the pilots went a little too low and ended up crashing into the north side of it. All died.

Just got the j21a1 and that was my favourite match in war thunder. 11 kills. I have never even come close to that number before. The guns are insane!

A fun fact about almost all Swedish vehicles etc. is that they were and are built for defence. For example, the strf 103 or tank S is specificly designed for low profile, high frontal defence in form of steep angle and a revesed top speed of 50 k/ph. The Gotland class submarines have been debated about for their range due to the fact that they are powered by kerosene, however, they are very high-tech and probably THE most silent submarine as of now, and though the have a limited torpedo amount, it is enough to disable most ships if nessesary.

In the 80´s Viggens always flew over our house at quite low alt, they had their route out over the sea just where i lived.

My favorite Swedish Saab aircraft is probably the Jas 39 gripen or the J 37 viggen

I think to this day I’ll always rely on the b18. Even at higher brs it’s crazy maneuverability as a bomber and decent bomb load will forever keep it close to my roster.

Time 6:46, the J29A; The flying “Barrel” (fFygande Tunnan) stationed at the military airfield, “F8” not from where I grew up in Barkarby. We use to hide in the field by the end of the air strip and watch “Draken” (the Dragon), J35D, take off and land, time 7:50.

the J29 "Tunnan" is the only swedish aircraft to have been deployed in combat(Congo as part of a UN force) The J37 "Viggen" pilots used to practice interception by getting lock ons on SR-71 blackbirds returning over the baltic

Looking forward to seeing the Saab/ British Aerospace Tempest first fight in the next few years.

My favourite swedish plane is definitely the B18B. I once took out two fighters with the tail gunner, one was the focke wolf fw190 and the spitfire.

I easily love the Draken it was one of the first jet aircraft I really dived into research on

i remember as a child, seeing the Draken fly over my granmas house, and since that time i have been in love with it... please gaijin, make the danish variants

The Draken F-35 could fly unbelievable slow. I came home from work and saw just at the brow of a very low hill and the back of my garden a Draken F-35 came flying so low and so slow that the pilot waved to me and I could see the aircraft's exhaust. And then in a flash it was gone. Denmark had 50 F-35 and used them in the fighter-bomber roll.

The J21A1 Is my all-time favourite fighter in the game, its just a blast to play with it, i get more than three kills on average and its just... Gorgeous The B18B is my all time bomber as well! And the thing that i love of it, is that i can go dogfighting with it, its also a blast

a21 is SOO good, it has that 600 kg bomb that kills everything, 4 13.2 swedish meatballs mg's and the hispano cannon that makes it more powerful. ofc im big fan of j35 and j37, but ya know... (g)old!!

Saab some of the best aircrafts in my opinion love the 105 and Drakken (Not only because my country used them)

Adding the export Hunter to the Swedish tech tree would be nice. Since they imported it before the J32 design was finished.

Saab draken is insane. My favorite jet to ever exist. Also did ypu guys know the saab 21 propeller plane was the first plane with ejection seat? Maybe add the ejection seat to the J21/A21 if you see this.

My favorite is the j22-b because it's 4 12.7 Akan cannons and the sheer amount of firepower it packs. Remember when it was 3.3 BR and not 4.0.

My dad has owned Saab 9-3 convertibles for a while. First one from 2001, the 03, and currently one from 07, though we are thinking of replacing it.

I really love the swedish B18B bomber. It has a decent climb rate and can defend itself really good. Also sometimes when you get slightly downtiered, you can one- hit bases with its 600kg bombs. I used it to get my first Jet in War Thunder.

Favourite Saabs? The Saab 105 series, and the Saab 21. Oh and the Saab 9000 - no, wait a minute, that's a car! A very nice car, and at the time the safest car on the road, with more airbags and side protection beams than you could shake a stick at. The Swedes also made an excellent piano - the Nordiska - now sadly made in China and nowhere near as good as the proper Swedish made ones...

My fav is the Jas 39 gripen

SAAB A great engineering, automotive and aviation company. Innovative and with incredibly high standards in build quality. The Americans could certainly learn a thing or two from them thesedays

I am currently grinding my way through the swedish tech tree to reach the viggen as this is probaply my favorit jet I think it looks amazing.

I started started playing war thunder over a year ago and went with Sweden air because I had a feeling that someday there would be a Viggen in the game. Now there's 2 types of them and Ive only managed to get to 7.7 Br. Maybe next year I'll be able to afford one ;)
