I still have a 10.5 iPad Pro from 2017 and it runs flawlessly. I don’t think I’m ready to drop $3000 on a fully spec’s iPad pro yet. I don’t see my life improving because I have something brighter and faster. I may be waiting for the iPad M5 perhaps. I need to start saving. Do you leave your iPad plugged in a lot? Not sure why your battery is no good.

My 10.5" has been a trooper, but its battery is also struggling nowadays, and the last version or two of iPadOS has felt much more sluggish on it. Great device for all this time, but the OLED M4 has me sold!

I just ordered mine because I have a 2018 model. I’m getting the 11 inch this time. I was waiting for the mini to come out, but that didn’t happen so it’s one of these. I want something smaller to put in a day bag for traveling. When traveling overseas, certain webpages don’t work on the phone when you trying to make reservations and stuff like that

Already on order, iPad Pro 11 basic + Pencil pro, main reason, 5.3mm and Oled, the M4 is a bonus and I anticipate it will have benefits for AI.

Actually, comparing 12.9” M2 with 13” M4, it’s only brighter for SDR content. In XDR and HDR it’s the same peak brightness. That’s not the cool thing about the display. Tandem OLED isn’t a term coined by Apple, but for a consumer product to have it is first of its kind. An OLED screen of that size to have that brightness without the downsides (massive energy cost, increased wear on the panel, overheating and burn in) is insanely impressive. That alone justifies the price jump (not including the increase for base storage).

Thanks for the video. I see you too recognized the fact the new iPad Pro M4 doesn’t have the 5G millimeter wave band. My M1 iPad Pro 12.9 “ with 2 TB storage has that feature, so I’m not sure why they removed that 5G band.. Also the number of cores for neural processing is the same on my older M1 iPad. The fact they keep making the iPad Pro thinner worries me. Like visions of people bending iPhone 6 models from years ago comes to mind. The differences from my M1 iPad Pro to the M4 iPad Pro doesn’t look that enticing, so I’m not running out and purchasing it just yet. I’m waiting to see what new if any software features they may have for it later…

With every gen. Neural engine gets faster even though it has the same amount of cores. The M2 neural engine is 40% faster than the M1’s! But nah, your M1 is still gold, you dont need to upgrade unless you have a bad battery, or want the new amazing display or need the new pencil. Otherwise, hold on into it until you find a good sale for it or Apple releases a device with a bigger advanced features. Don’t forget your investment in the case, pencil or keyboard. At least wait until it’s heavily discounted towards the end of the year or next spring. Cheers!

The Nano texture glass option seems like a bad idea for a display you're constantly touching. If it's anything like the Nano texture glass on the studio display, it's going to be a pain to deal with. I don't think anyone asked for it to be thinner. More run time, people ask for that but Apple doesn't care about that.

Coming from a 2018 11” Pro, would love to upgrade… However, I really wanted to see is an iPad Mini Pro to complement an Vision Pro, preferably one that has at least 1TB, and dual or triple camera lenses on the back. The chip should not be less than an M2, an M3 could be nice, however, the M4 would be great if they could manage… 🤔

Ive been waiting for Apple to finally give the 11inch the same display treatment as the 12:9. I can now finally sell my 2022 12:9 iPad Pro. I’ve always hated the size of that.

Wait wait.... The phone 15 Pro does not have tandem, but it says that it can go to 2000 peak brightness, so why would the IPAD needs a tandem oled screen, if the iphone can already do 2000 wihtout tandem oled, but still oled? Confusing

@@jaimem1788 No, I did see a huge OLED TV once, I believe it was something like a 32", wow. Seriously now, it is, indeed, the brightness. A large OLED has something like 300 nits and HDR around 600 nits for 1% of the screen. They've gotten better but none does 1000 nits sustained for the entire screen.

I've been using the iPad Pro 12.9-inch 2018 model with cellular. I don't really see a compelling reason to upgrade this year, especially with the introduction of OLED screens.

Good point my 2018 iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard still works pretty well, no battery issues so yeah not sure I’ll be upgrading… may likely go down the Apple Store and do some comparisons then decide!

@@benpit2762, You're spot on. Unless you're a dedicated gamer, video editor, or running intensive applications, the M1 processor holds up quite well. Additionally, it's worth noting that the new, thinner iPad might be more prone to damage compared to what you currently own

I'm still using the 1st gen iPad Pro 9.7... battery life has finally gone down, so I guess I will upgrade.

Just not explained well... 1TB has the 10 core version, and the lower ones have a 9 core version.

The missed question and a critique: why didn't Apple improve the universal complaint that the pencil on glass feeling requires paper like. No news yet on how well the pencil works with the new glass. I assume Dan did not have hands on experience. Not clear if nano texture eliminates need for paper like and also say you put the paper like over the nano texture does it then re-introduce reflectivity? That would be funny.

I've given up upgrading or buying iPads as I find all the hardware improvements are pointless as the software apps and iOS are what limits functionality on these devices. I'll admit im a littler out of touch these days, so can anyone confirm whether actual iOS apps (eg Photoshop / Lightroom etc ) and the operating system are now able to make use of the improvements on the hardware side?

I love the new Magic Keyboard, but I am very disappointed that I have to upgrade from my already working Magic Keyboard lol

The Logitech Combo Touch is a way more versatile accessory than the Magic Keyboard. It’s so much better

Hopefully it can still unlock vertically Coz while you can unlock either way for current iPads. I find its hit and miss when its in landscape mode Now that it has landscaped camera. Hopefully it doesn’t make vertical unlock worse As I use it mostly vertically

I believe the two highest storage capacities also have 2 more CPU cores and more RAM.

They need to ditch the 256gb model now, they’re dragging it out too long like they did with the 64gb iPhones. Also no one who’s ever owned an iPad has ever wished for it to be slimmer, this change was not worthy of any attention whatsoever. All it means is your previous case won’t fit the new model if you’re upgrading which is pretty lame.

Good presentation, thank you for putting this together. It appears Apple is doing their own thing and not listening to the needs of their users. You mentioned so many things that Apple ought to have included in lower models. I can't believe they removed the wide camera feature. Their proprietary tactics are not welcome. No doubt this post will get deleted.

I have the 2018 11 Pro. Waited a long time for the make right upgrade. Purchased the 1 TB 11 and keyboard. Surprised I had to buy new pencil cause the old one does not work. WOW! I use the pencil a lot .Regular screen too. Also surprised I had to get the 1 TB to get the M4.

Otterbox this IPad.

The hardware is brilliant but the software is crippled with iPadOS for such incredible and expensive hardware. What is the weights of the 2 new Magic Keyboards? They look excellent too but if they're too heavy it defeats the purpose of a light, thin iPad.

I'll be upgrading from the Ipad Air 2, which I passed down to my youngest sister. Looking forward to using a tablet again specially now that I'm working and no longer in college.

Anything other than base iPad 10 is pretty much waste of money without MacOS. High time that Apple allows MacOS on iPad. Tired of not having such a simple thing which has been there for Windows users for many years.

So the M4 chip will only be used for the iPads because the next Mac will be “too powerful and require a whole new chip.” Also, the matte screen is a waste of money. You need a screen protector for every device you own, and they have matte screen protectors.

There’s a device for that called Mac/ MacBook. The ipad has a different use case and needs iPad OS specially for that (ease of use, touch, pencil, cameras, cellular, GPS, LiDAR and AR and is targeted toward different audience. It’s no joke like the wanna be everything and fail in everything Microsoft Surface, and Apple wont doom it with windows 8 like $hitty experience.

M4 = M3 Pro

I would prefer smaller and faster, over thinner, I guess I will have to wait for iPad mini pro! 😢

The new iPad Pro M4 or iPad Air M2 are the BIGGEST DONGLE EVER MADE by Apple, because if someone simply want to use the new Pencil Pro with their shining and super powerful iPad Pro M1/M2, they MUST BUY the new WHOLE iPad Pro M4 or iPad Air M2!!! @@dadwire1483 I'm an audiophile and I'm ok with the added water resistance and general improved ruggedness by getting rid of the 3.5mm headphone jack. Use a USB-C to 3.5mm cable adapter and you have a very easy, high quality, elegant and rugged solution. Or a USB-C to 4.4mm balanced adapter and have a pro headphone connection. Problem solved.

Pointless upgrades when it's still not able to run mac OS. There's no reason to restrict it. I would actually buy an iPad if Apple allowed mac OS to be installed. I have no interest in buying a Macbook.

It's still iPad who is dimming with heavy apps after years. Better to buy MacBook Air for that horrendous price.

Put this screen on the MacBook with face ID and problem solved for this useless device that If I need a good storage and 16 gb ram with a keyboard that makes it as a laptop which was the reason they invented this 2nd gen Magic Keyboard then You pay $2000 dollars or more for a device running the shitty iPadOs.
