Most of the reviewers on KZread must be used to upgrading their iPads every year or something, cuz most of them say that this new iPad Pro M4 is not worth the upgrade. I, myself was still using the 1st generation iPad Pro until last week, and found this new iPad Pro to be an absolute must after I bought it.

First gen pro like the one with the fingerprint button? Or the M1? I still have the fingerprint button pro 12.9 and it’s slow as molasses. The M1, I can’t make it sweat and would not upgrade. It’s still lightning fast.

Agreed. Should you buy the latest? It depends on what the alternative is. Is the alternative an ancient iPad? Is the alternative the previous model? Is the alternative a recent model with insufficient storage? Is the alternative not having an iPad? Is the alternative an iPad Mini that is too small for your tasks? It depends on what the alternative is.

Sorry. I do enjoy this channel, but you could play this review next to the first one and see zero difference. The title was “two weeks later” but all we got was the same tired discussion of the features. Nothing about how it performed in real-world scenarios, running real-world apps and in real world use-cases. For example, I went to a conference the other day and used just my 11” M4 iPad Pro to to take notes. The battery made it through the day and 1 hour flight home, but the range anxiety kicked in around 2pm and I started to shut the case when I wasn’t writing to conserve power. How about using it on long flights (you can simulate that) if you’re not going overseas. The weight difference does help with holding it while reading. How is it when you connect to difference displays? How is it when you turn ProMotion off to increase battery life. Does that change the writing experience? Does that increase the battery? I could answer all of these, but my point is y’all shouldn’t just create the same video with a different title. Dig deeper and think of what potential users might want to know before buying.

I actually got rid of an M1 iPad Pro 12.9” due to it being just too big & bulky for my needs at the time a little over a year ago. Well wouldn’t you know I walked into an Apple Store & tried out this 11” & immediately was smitten. I was all set to buy a new M2 Air but the screen just seemed off putting to my aging eyes. Zero issues with the tandem OLED screen on this 11” Pro. I instantly was hooked & knew I was leaving there with one. The reduced size & weight for me are just icing on a very sweet cake. I did however exercise a little common sense going for the base “poor man’s” model with only 256gb of storage & the 9 core CPU. Can’t say I’ve seen any issues with a binned M4 chip or non glare free screen.

I got the new 11” M4 Pro to replace my Mini 6. The OLED screen makes this iPad just a joy to use if you are coming from an LCD screen. I didn’t buy the Apple keyboard since my need for typing on this unit is very minimal. But if I need to use a keyboard my old Logitech Keys-To-Go is an excellent accessory. I didn’t upgrade my M1 12.9” with the Apple keyboard. The Mini-LED screen on the 12.9” is still an outstanding display.

It is easier to navigate the ipad with this new keyboard. I use the ipad for video and photo editing. I am learning Procreate so the new pencil is going to work out well. I upgraded from a 2018 12.9 inch to a base 13 inch and it’s an amazing upgrade. I am annoyed that I had to upgrade my keyboard (especially because it’s just the magnets that won’t latch. If you line up the pins the old keyboard still works) but overall the new keyboard feels a lot better in terms of build quality, the hinge, it goes back further, the function keys are fantastic. The iPad itself feels like a massive upgrade. The oled display is stunning and I’m using it way more than I used my 2018 just because of the screen. The thinness makes it easier to use in your hands. I find myself taking it off the keyboard and using it like an iPad because it’s so much easier to hold and thinner. It definitely feels like I jumped 6 years into the future coming from the 2018. I would recommend the upgrade if you’re considering it. I hope that helps

Many reviewers already say eg Dave2D that 2018 iPads are more or less same use case experience to 2024 M4 iPads. The big difference will be at WWDC where Apple gate-keep AI on native to M4 chips only and the list of features is mostly gimmicky anyway at this point: Just use ChatGPT-4.0 via cloud anyway. Wait until Apple upgrades to a new OS on iPads then the new hardware can be put to full use. Only exception is pro artists where the cost is a business cost on return on investment and they want a portable work tablet.

No, WWDC will use native M4 on chip Ai which are nice gimmicky improvements but fundamentally still extremely limited by iPadOS. You can find a list of the Ai on board features easily via a quick google search. Your current iPad probably won't get the new AI features for the M4 chip in part due to the NPU but also Apple's shitty gate-keeping of new features for new hardware also. Just wait a few years until Apple launches an entirely new OS then it will be worth splashing out with all the new AI mature by then on native as well as cloud.

You have to buy all new accessories for the M4 which adds another $450 onto your price tag. Netflix for example; cannot go into full screen mode, your stuck looking at a bigger app but still see a few inches of the border. I see a lot of reviewers who appear dismissive over the thinness. As a daily user, generally in tablet mode, on the go, taking notes when meeting with staff and clients, that ‘thinness’ equals serious weight reduction. And that weight reduction is far, far more valuable than additional battery life. 10 hours plus is more than sufficient, but the ability to be able to hold the 13” comfortably in hand and take notes - that is a real world improvement for pros, I’d suggest.

What you said about the tmobile cellular model is on point and not to be an ad or anything but seriously right now if one adds a iPad line to their plan mobile is taking $230 off the iPad you want which is how I got the M4 iPad Pro 11' inch for $200 less and my overall bill only went up by $18 for the insurance that I choose (you can get apple care but it doesn't cover lost or stolen items where as tmobile coverage does) and the 5G is very good too so no more wifi only iPads for me.

Upgraded from Air 5 and I can’t remember the last time I’ve been so blown away by a new Apple product. Anybody who says is isn’t about the OLED screen needs to have their eyes checked, because it’s ALL ABOUT the OLED display. The blacks are ridiculous. The color accuracy is fantastic. The edges are near perfect. They achieve crazy brighness with virtually 100% uniformity. This is the best display available anywhere on any device, Period. (Yeah, it’s THAT GOOD.)

I upgraded from 10.5" Pro to 11" M4 Pro mainly because of very shoddy battery life on 10.5". Other than that for casual content viewers and light game playing for users like me, I don't see a great user experience change between the two. The 10.5" was still fast enough for these applications. Yes the newer screen is better but you get used to whatever you are using. Face ID does not work if you are close to screen such as reading in bed. While I and users like me would probably be happy with an Air, the Pro improved sound is a big deal to me. New Pro has battery health indicator display which is a welcome change, not sure if this was just implemented for this model or has been there for awhile but not present in my 10.5". Hopefully 6-8 years with this model.

No just go for a cheap refurb or 2nd hand and save money. The M4 was only ever about Apple advertising AI at WWDC to keep up with Windows/Snapdragon (it will almost certainly gate-keep the new native ai features on M4 only). But the new AI features are mostly gimmicky while iPadOS is still the same on all models, go cheap and wait a few years until Apple launches a whole new OS then it will be worth it. Until then the hardware is high price for low utility given the software is legacy OS aka BabyOS.

I use my android more then my iPad because it gives me more of a feel between a tablet and a computer, and the new iPad Pro has an M4 chip and all they could give use was a calculator????? REALLY!! come on Apple??? The iPad Pro now cost more then a Mac with the extras and all they could give us was a calculator??? The only thing that could justify the price of the new iPad Pro for me is if they put Mac OS on it when conected to the the keyboard and an iPad when it is not. They can disable the touch capability then conected to the keyboard that doesn't bother me, and if it has an M4 in it there's no reason they can't do that. but it not it doesn't justify the price going from 350$ to 2,000$(+) I won't be getting the new iPad Pro until they offer us something more than a CALCULATOR. REALLY DISAPPOINTED IN APPLE ON THIS ONE.....
