3:10 actually the M1A1 AIM has better thermals than the M1A2 making at the best thermals on an Abrams we have period. The only big difference is that the A2 gets a commander sight with thermals but they are still worse than the AIM’s gunner thermals. Still, a great video!

Couple more errors in the video, the upper glacis is literally immune to every single APFSDS shell in-game, yet in the video he claimed it's highly vulnerable. M1A1 AIM is pretty much the most survivable top-tier tank in the entire game, so then the rating system falls apart because it only got a 7.5/10? Claims the M1A1 AIM lacks behind Leopard, ZTZ's and T-80's in mobility, which is again just plain false. I also have no idea why he keeps laser rangefinding tanks that are at point blank range, haha.

@@JamesVDBosch Actually the upper glacis is extremely vulnerable, it will not bounce shells most of the time, speaking from experience on both sides, the receiving end and the attacking end. And the M1A1AIM is actually slower in forward than the T-80BVM and ZTZ99A.

@@akiraalder I'm afraid that I don't really care for your personal experience because it doesn't magically make facts untrue, the upper glacis (unless fired downwards upon) is immune to literally every APFSDS shell in the game since it's buffs. Mobility isn't just forwards, the M1's have faster traverse, (neutral steering) and reverse speeds, also, it's all around faster than the equivalent Leopard 2.

Well you can have full squadron line up right know with M1A1 Aim, AH-64 and in the worst case scenario, A4 early too.

I'm a little more than half way through the squadron research for the AIM and have been thinking about what's next for research. I figured I could skip the heli cause I've grinded most of the heli tree in the last month or so. I'm thinking about the M901(I think that's what it is) to have another higher level vehicle for ground since im literally still a newer player and am still trying to work my way up from the bottom 😅

​@@dustinhaynes2617 yep, it is so sad that we dont alteast get a light vehicle, maybe the Comvat or something like that, something similar to the Bradley as a squad vehicle so that Abrams is not dangling alone at 11.3, i got the XM1 or what its called at 9.3 the premium (but i would not advise buying it anymore) but atleast i have a decent "light tank". But tbh at the M1s BR you will have a hard time as a new player, those who grinded to high BR know those maps really well.

@@DerDrecksack87 I have since gotten the AIM and have fully spaided it(was a process saving backups just for use with it), but I don't think I've done too bad considering most people I play against have probably played the game for years. I just need to start slowing down a little bit to try to take better shots when I see people in stead of shooting randomly about center mass. I think I personally have the highest K/D with the AIM even tho I don't have nearly as much time on it as say the M4A3(105). I'm here to have fun after work and see what I can blow up when I can 😅.

Pro tip: don’t buy this. It can only grind ranks 6 to 7. Get the new leopard 2a4 or the t72av depending on what tech tree you prefer. Both can grind from ranks 1 to 7 and have no disadvantages from grinding low tiers

more like never buy squad vehicles or any that are not premium. SQ vehicles often have insane repair costs in comparison to regular tech(shimakaze default costing twice that of a lower BR heavy cruiser for example) and don't even have better earnings or anything. ITs really a gimmick that gajin needs to discontinue unless they are gonna make it worth it like them having somewhat better SL earnings but not as good as premiums or smth like that.

It's for me then, I'm more of a frontal assault type of player this thing should do fine

8/10 survivability? the abrams is the most survivable tank at top tier. The leopards get's a 2 times spall modifier on the mantlet, and the gunner, tc and driver are perfectly aligned on the hull at the same height, the leopard also has a small ammo rack and the rest are on the hull without blowout panels. The abrams armor is only second to the BVM, it has comparable turret armor and a lot better hull armor to the leos. once the BVM is penned it's dead

This one goes well with my Australian Navy Skyhawk.

Dont get it unless you've played top tier ground before and have more vehicles to go into the line up with it. I haven't played my leo 2pl because my highest vehicle for Germany is 7.7 and theres no reason to ruin other's games

I get roughly 2k to 5k research a match with this thing on a pretty standard game yet it doesn't seem to put all of it towards the next vehicle in the tech tree. I've found after getting 4k in it only 400 ish goes towards the next vehicle. Yes I also do have all the upgrades for it so it isn't going towards that.

It's a rank 7 so it only research rank 6-7 efficiently, if you resesrch any tanks lower than rank 6 it will only get 10% rp towards the research vehicles, in other words you didn't do you research before buying this and you got fucked by Gaijin

As far as I have noticed, the RP for the tech tree and mods are split up differently. I've been getting say 1000 points for said tank mod, and 1000 for the vehicle research separately.

Just so you know, my brother from another mother, Thunder From Down Under, is the the name of the Australian version of Chippendale's lol... (My Australian wife told me that lol, and I don't even want to know how she knows it).

TLDR: If you are a new player looking for an easy way into top tier, NO, do not buy this. This vehicle is very clearly a backup, replacement, substitute, and excellent addition to US top tier, not a premium for grinding (since it cannot grind the lower BRs effectively and does not come with any premium bonuses like a higher than average SL and RP modifier) or something meant to be used by people who have no idea how top tier works. The vehicle itself isn't inherently bad aside from its poor stock grind with no tier 1 sabot. Aside from that, the AIM is excellent when spaded as with most other vehicles in the game. Its 2nd gen thermals are great, currently the only Abrams that gets them, which are also on the commander's MG (not a CITV but it's still there for spotting if needed), KE-W is a great round with similar performance to its contemporaries at top tier, the armor profile is the same as the M1A2 and M1A1 HC, and also gets MPAT.

Love me some MPAT rounds. Although i find the m1a2 packs a much bigger wallop than the AIM. So brawling maps i bring that out first. Bigger maps i bring out the abrooms with gen 2 thermys. Really wish they added the sep but i guess we wont be getting that any time soon. The AIM was their answer for all the US mains begging for gen 2 thermals.

A small Abrams Werkspot guide: The LFP is a one shot 8/10 times. If the turret is only slightly angled you can aim for the back (depending on what you are shooting with) you can take the M1 out with a single shot there as well by blowing out the ammo rack in the turret. The UFP is weakly armored but it can bounce some shots if you shoot it even at slightly higher angles bc it’s neat the critical „auto bounce“ angle. Turret cheeks are impenetrable by apfsds from the front, your breach is pretty big and there is a possibility for you to get one shoted and get your Ammo detonated, although that’s occurs pretty rarely (depends as well on how many rounds you take with you). Your roof is very weakly armored (like every other mbt’s) but especially on the Abrams there is only a really slight angle needed for somebody to penetrate your roof and hitting your armor, resulting in one shot kill. Deaths to HE happen to me in the Abrams more often than on other mbt‘s. There is even a chance for some atgm‘s to strike you right in the face, detonating and not penetrating you, but killing your crew (WT exaggerating the over pressure mechanics). All in all, unfortunately not hard at all to kill you should not count on your armor except maybe your are hull down at long ranges, but even than you have to keep in mind what i wrote up there…the saying „either you kill it’s mobility or you kill it’s firepower“ is long ago :(

Ngl, I say this with all honesty. This is a skill issue, the abrams is very good. Having every abrams except the aim, they can be really good when played right. The only downside is the fact that American teams seem to be a lot less skilled because it’s a lot of people’s first skill tree. And it is really hard to one shot an Abrams from the LFP. Most of the time you just kill the driver and engine, ik this from experience on both sides (fighting and using the abrams). I don’t know about the Aim, but the m1a2, sep, and HC round are all really good. In my experience, it seems to spall really good. The abrams is no BVM where you go in willy nilly, you use it’s good maneuverability and turret armor to pick your own fights and put yourself into an advantage over the enemy.

I wouldn’t suggest getting a 1-Tank (for that BR Area) lineup, but rather, I’d suggest you simply wait for the grind until you get your first Abrams, or the M3a3 Bradley, or easier enough, try out the Stryker, get a feel for “Top-Tier” (9.3-7) and then get the AIM. It’s going to be easier for you as you will have vehicles to back it up, and you will begin to learn the Weakspots of the T-Series and whatnot

You can only grind the rank below with the AIM. Would be useful I suppose if you're already into rank 6 on the American tech tree, otherwise you'd be better off with the XM-1 which can grind the entire tree efficiently.

@@warriorhobo3935 I agree on most of that, however the ZTZ88 and higher while they look similar are in fact not t-55s and T-72s like most think. Completely domestically produced tanks that took ideas from both Russian and contemporary western design philosophies. The 99A is the pinnacle of that. Same with the merkavas in isreal. I do agree that those other nations should get a vehicle first though. Starting with Japan as I’m slowly on my way to the type 10.

No, just buy the tank that grinds tanks 1-7 and has the highest rp modifier. I’m at 4.0-5.0 barely and for top tier air I’m 12.0 the premium with highest rp modifier grinding all ranks will be the best.

well the thermal only matters at night and for the ppl playing easy mode or sim. The benefit is that as a squadron you can grind it ahead of time or without even playing american tree

Thermals are quite handy in day battles too, gen 1 not as much, but gen 2 and better are quite nice for spotting targets moving in between bushes, in the shadow or having small bits of their tanks exposed behind hills etc. Essentially with thermals in day battles you just use it to quickly scan an area and since targets stand out it only takes maybe a second or two, whereas without them you have to rely on moving targets to catch your attention more likely.

I just got this tank and the spall is complete and utter garbage

@@Clueless09 bruh did you just say it's hull armor is worse than a WW2 tank? Yeah it's bad for top tier but it will still stop a lot of HEAT. The turret can stop DM53 so you can just play hull down too. Oh and the KE-W dart for it has almost 600mm of pen, far from the worst.

Pro-Tip, and I’m sorry to say this to anyone who bought this with GE and is under level, lets say 60, as I have seen level 60’s with the IPM1, but *Do NOT Buy This Tank.* You are ruining Top-Tier for the people with a proper line-up, and truly know how to fire at what weak-spot of what tank, and can properly contribute to the game. So please, learn to do/get those things (Learn WeakSpots, Get proper Lineup, Learn how to Truly Contribute to the game) And then, grind for this tank. Don’t buy it with GE, it isn’t worth it. Just wait out the Squadron points.
