Thanks for the answer, I watched this material a few minutes after writing this comment. However, the crux of the question remains the same. In your opinion, is the M1 Pro processor sufficient for occasional video editing and work with 50-200 Mb photo files? Considering the fact that I do not buy such a computer for 6 months, however, should I invest a bit more funds (the price is not the main criterion for me, more shortening the battery life in the case of the M1 MAX because, as I said, it is a mobile tool for me) best

Bruh....that stress test...... This makes me even more excited for the coming iMac Pro

Hope iMac Pro is also a relatively thick machine with great big quiet fans with more room for cooling and airflow, unlike those new thin iMacs, and with even more ports than this new M1-series MBP.

This machine is wild. I'm still blown away by my 13"m1 MacBook but excited to someday get an iMac with these chips.

Love that you compare it with Ania's laptop! I'm one of those people who is still using the same MBP so I found this video so much more relatable.

When you said about power reducing when unplugging PCs I wasn't thinking laptops XD yeah usually if you unplug a PC it just turns off, complete power reduction

Pro machines operate. My fans just go wild, and the battery correspondingly plummets whenever I so much as look at the Lightroom or Photoshop icons.

This is one of the best previews I have seen. The stress test definitely helps to see what we can really do. Great Video!

@@bilinasmini3480 same... bought a maxed-out 2020 13" Intel MacBook Pro, then a month later the Apple chip models showed up. It works fine. However.... I bought a new green M1 iMac (also the best high end version) to replace my 2013 version that was beginning to struggle. My envy has lessened somewhat... but I'm thinking now of acquiring the new 16 inch... oh well🔥

Damn I just love this time of the year. This year was amazing in product releases.

As a 2015 15" MBP user who has held onto it for the ports and keyboard. I highly appreciate these tests and comparisons.

Absolutely rated for bringing out the 2014 MBP with light up logo! Currently watching this vid on the same machine and have a M1 Max 16 on order! Only video i've seen to do that so far..

I'm looking forward to ripping through some HEVC in FCP, I'm hoping it'll perform well

Such a great review, it’s the same computer everyone else is reviewing but I came away with actual impressions and real world examples. Just an awesome video, hard to explain but so much better than the copy paste stuff out there.

Thanks for the validation, Tyler. I decided to pass over the M1 Pro and go with the M1 Max on a 14" MBP despite the significant increase in cost. Your review most clearly illustrates the huge performance gain, especially for video work and multitasking. My initial hunch that the new MBP Max could replace both my M1 MacBook Air (for travel) and high spec iMac (for desktop work) seems to be possible. Now that you've had a taste of the review unit, I assume two new MBP Max are in your future?

I have watched A LOT of 2021 MacBook Pro reviews and this was by far my favourite! I'm still rocking my early 2015 MBP with all the ports, so I love that you had a comparison with a similarly old MacBook in here!

tks a lot for this, the performance is insane for the battery usage, this is the type of test that I like to see, if you test only one minor application, dont seems much impressive, it shines when you do all of that on battery.

So how long did it take this beast to transcode all those 8K files to ProRes? That's what I wanna know.

This is probably the most useful video I have seen about the M1 Max. Real world tasks against an older model, which is probably closer to what people will experience versus the tech KZreadrs comparing last year‘s model.

This was really good!! Seems like 32gb of ram would be more than enough for me (I'd do 16, but I want to keep the computer for a long time)

Great video as always tyler. When you test with capture one, could you test attached to a 4k monitor because with the m1 its laggy as hell with previewing the image and adjustmenst

The new OS Monterey does have a lower performance mode that can be enabled to turn on automatically when the laptop is unplugged. It may even be the default setting, I can't remember.

Dude!!! Thank you. Man I've seen a ton of videos but no one did what you did. So I'm the "mid-2014" guy lol holding out for a great machine and trying to avoid touch bar. So I got the m1max 32gb and I was wondering when it slow down. I use 1080p 24 fps video in my edits. Might switch to 4k now. I also create music with lots of instruments playing at the same time. it looks like the 32gb would be able to go handle all that

Very happy to see a real-world comparison here, so many reviews are just throwing out a bunch of geekbench scores without saying what they actually mean. I am getting a 14" M1 Pro for my mobile photo editing machine (lightroom classic and photoshop). SD card does nothing for me (my Nikon does cfexpress) but I'm sure it'll get used at some point. I don't do a lot of bulk export but I'm thinking that the M1 Pro should be fine for the piecemeal editing that I do (24MP landscapes, with the headroom to move to 45 in the future if required).
