    DaVinci Resolve also added H.265 codex to the free version for windows, so that now free users can use GPU acceleration and can expect 5-6 times or faster rendering times depending on the CPU. I saw a video testing that and the guy's RTX 2060 gave a 5x faster render time. So RTX 3060 and above laptops should be at least 6x faster

    I get how the Razer would be better for gamers, but other reviewers like Max Tech compared the Razer Book 13” to the M1 MacBook Pro and the M1 was better. Also the M1Pro offers negligible performance increases over the Air for $300 more. Choose the $900 entry level MacBook Air a MOST excellent value. Spend the saving on 16gb of RAM. After an entire year, I believe buyers KNOW the MacBook Air is the all around best laptop you can buy for the money. Now that Apple has FINALLY released their high performance machines and given it’s base price, I think the Razer should be compared to it’s truer rival, the new M1 pro MacBook.

    @@jonas890r Same, I am actually getting my dad to purchase this for me for school but he was worried about having to change the battery ram or SSD. Although I haven't managed to convinced him yet, I've looked at it as if the laptop was a phone. On most phone, when you first purchase the device, you've to choose the right amount of storage, you could add in external microsd, but the apps and stuff wouldn't work in it. However, most of the time you probably don't worry too much that 128gb is not enough or 256gb is not enough after using it for years. Repairabiliy wise, I think you really have to put your trust on apple on this. I don't want to pay extra for apple care either. So far there's not a lot of reviews saying that the m1 mba has bad hardware design that would break something... I understand that sometime stuff would just break randomly, but the probability is not as significant in my opinion. The battery doesn't need to be charged every hour, which improves charge cycle. The trackpad doesn't have any mechanical components that would wear over time. There's no fan, so you don't have to worry about dust blocking airflow. For the ssd, you've to trust apple to provide the best ssds in the market, most average ssd actually last a lot of years. I'd admit buying an apple product on a low budget is quite tricky. You've to compile all the pros and cons and really think of its probability and stuff. Make sure you do tons of research. I haven't bought it yet but I think I've my final decision to get the base m1 mba. As much research as you like to do, sometimes the real experience could be something completely different. But I think I'm starting to be comfortable enough to get it.

    I'm trying to not be a windows fanboy but the way you talk down things like the hdmi port on the blade 14 , without complaining about the dearth of ports on the mbp, indicates that you're, at least, out of touch with what the laptop is intended for.. when you compared screen brightness with the laptops unplugged you were overlooking the way the blade 14 reduces battery consumption when unplugged by dialling down various settings

  • @CreatedTech

    @CreatedTech

    How did I "talk down" the HDMI port on the Blade? I also never said the ports on the MacBook were better, just that they were extremely versatile because they're both thunderbolt. And screen brightness? You do realise the MacBook ALSO reduces screen brightness when on battery? And the main point of that comparison is that the MacBook screen can reach 500 nits, compared with only around 300 for the Blade. So it's nearly twice as bright, and you can clearly see that in the comparison. You might not sound like a Windows fanboy, but you definitely sound completely "out of touch" with the specifications of both laptops and how they compare.

    @@CreatedTech i didn't think you'd reply, thanks for taking the time I'd like to take the chance to say i did enjoy your video and watched it through, it actually made me think twice about rejecting a MacBook Pro, it was eye opening to know just how capable the mac is, i just found you to be a bit more effusive about the mac, and reluctant to talk to the areas in which the Blade comes into its own. Re: HDMI, you say "yeah it's got this but you need a screen and cable", this is true, but the option to do this should be recognised, because in contrast the MacBook Pro is stingy, simply put. People comparing these laptops aughta know that they're fundamentally different machines in terms of intended use, the Razer Blade 14 is a compact, but highly powered, gaming laptop, the MacBook Pro more of a vehicle for apple's proprietary softwares to shine in... as a gaming laptop in a small package, the razer has to live up to many expectations, few of these get much airtime in your video, it seems to me. Apple's display has been gorgeous for a decade, no doubt there, but i feel like you missed a trick not showing the displays both plugged, and unplugged. Later in your video the razer is plugged in and looks much more vibrant - perhaps it was just contrast from the camera angle, but it seemed something that aughta be highlighted. Perhaps this could be added in future videos? Ultimately, i personally prefer the razer because of its relative utility and access to the wider range of software available via windows. I also don't like how apple seem to ensure that their hardwear has a used by date whereby a new purchase becomes necessary. That said, they're both luxury options to me, and maybe something from ROG is economically better, ultimately, for CAD (my schtick) and creative design, as well as gaming. I'd add though that i think the option to use another screen via hdmi cable with the Razer lends itself to utility in a design firm, where work can easily be shown and even worked on, in real time, on large screens in meetings, plug-and-play. Anyway, again, sorry that i was short with my initial comments, i enjoyed your video.

    The problem with the MacBook Pro is that you CANNOT run Windows and it's x86 applications. It's performance is hence irrelevant. Yes, WINDOWS SUCKS. But if you play games, just about every game -- with the exception of a few console exclusives -- is on Windows; very few are on OS X. If you do ME work, Solidworks, Catia and Creo are on Windows (or Linux), they are not on OSX. If you do EE work, Allegro and OrCAD are on Windows, they are not on OS X. So, unless your use of the computer is limited to Office productivity apps, DTP or video editing, the Mac simply doesn't cut it irrespective of performance, quality or value. This is why I ran a Macbook Pro for seven years with Bootcamp and never, ever, booted into MacOS. With their switch to ARM, I had to abandon Apple laptops. -- I currently run a Razer 14" w/RTX3070 and a 4TB SSD, because it is the closest to the all metal look and feel of a Mac but allows be to stay in the x86 software ecosystem. And, yes, it is "fast enough".
