Ive been a windows developer for 30 years. I bought this machine to create ios apps. I liked it so much that its my daily driver now. Its plenty fast enough for coding/compiling on, though for dev, i recommend 16 gig. Thanks for your review

I picked up a used M1 Air - 16 GB RAM and 512 SSD. I got a super price. I upgraded from a 2015 Air. It does everything I need it to all day long without recharging. The keyboard is one of the best, and the trackpad is smooth as silk. The display is a vast improvement, and I have no complaints. I thought the lack of ports might be a problem, primarily because I use a lot of thumb drives to store info. I just moved most of it to iCloud, and it solved that issue. I have a “dongle” if I should ever need it. I did purchase an aftermarket magnetic connecter for the power as insurance against tripping over a cord. It should keep me going for several years. Hopefully, seven like my 2015 did.

Hey mate, brilliant video. Just subscribed. Really like how you gave a full picture here. I have the M2 Macbook Pro, and I'm thinking of downgrading to the M1 Air. I mainly do light video editing (weekly KZread videos, but nothing too intensive). iMovie runs slow on my Mac but quick on my partners M1 Air - not sure how that works haha! But I find the 14 inch too big and bulky, the wedge shape of the M1 Air is iconic and easier to edit on when you're on the go IMO.

Just bought a base model last month for $500. Some very minor scratches/irregularities with 98 cycles 97% capacity. This thing is such a beast even when compared to the MacBook I replaced it with (base model 2019 Air lol). I'm very satisfied with the purchase and will hopefully hold onto it for another 2-3ish years:)

I got the M1 air yesterday, brand new, base model. My gaming laptop has been in factory to repair for almost a month, so i went and got an air. Guess i won’t be gaming much, i am really enjoying editing photos on lightroom and i will enjoy travelling with this. Very light and thin, awesome battery life, something out of this world, at least for me, coming from a gaming laptop. I saw some reviews and and i have no regrets. Great device!

My very first macbook, and ive tasted greatness, and i dont know how i can go back. This really is the standard by which laptops ought to be judged.

I found this MacBook Air on Amazon a couple of months ago for $749 and I grabbed it right away as I've been pricing the 2020 MacBook Air with M1 for awhile and I didn't want to go $999 plus taxes, etc. , however, for the $749 price it was a great bargain. I really like this laptop it's great and I'm glad I stuck with the M1 and fanless model. I've learned that Apple makes a very well built product. And when I came across the 2020 iPhone SE 2d Gen, I got that as well and I really like it a lot. The MacBook was my very first Apple product period! That M1 Chip blew me away. That chip is 3.1gHz and my CX536EA Chromebook had a 3.0gHz processor and that laptop is very fast so I knew the MacBook would be powerful enough for my use. I'm not a power user so I'm sure both laptops will last me a long time. Thank you for your review as it makes me confident I made the right choice in getting the same MacBook Air with M1 chip

I got my M1 MacBook Air (base model Space Grey) back in April 2021. 2 years later after I got it, it still does a great job with handling the things that I do on it. Although, the battery has degraded down to 83%, and I'd have to charge it twice a day (fortunately, I don't use my laptop outside much). Overall, it's the best laptop I've ever owned.

heeeeey, mine I dont have to charge it sometimes even after 2 days?! using internet, KZread and other programs all day... I got it THE SAME MONTH. APRIL 2021

I’ve been using this for light video editing for school It preforms pretty well, it’s nice and small, pairs great with a iPad mini for school

I got M1 Air base model like a month ago. And this thing flies compared to my 16gb gaming laptop. Battery is impressive, holds up like 7 hours of heavy usage work day. I can easily have like 14 Google Chrome tabs open and it still manages to be fast. First MacBook ever and I am really impressed. don't get me wrong, my windows laptop is good as well, can do the same things, but battery is nowhere close to being good like this. If I am not using my MacBook for work and just using chrome (with like 8 tabs open) most of the time, I can easily get 10+ hours of screen time.

What was your gaming laptop’s specs? If i might ask

I’ve had my M1 Air for 2 years now and it’s still a beast. Battery health has gone done to somewhere around 87%. Something that’s been bugging me out is that when you start it up after it has been closed and search for something, it will stall for a couple minutes before it shows the results. I’ve been creating a routine of me opening up the Mac and then go around the house and do some chores before I come back and have it ready for me😂

@@nadermohammedsaid9466 Could be a thousand things so reset is the quickest. You should backup your things anyway because if your ssd takes a crap it would cost hundreds to recover if at all.

I bought my base model M1 Air in 2021 right after I graduated high school, my 2017 MacBook Pro (2.3 GHz i5, 8GB, 128GB SSD) died on me for good and it was $549 to repair from Apple. I saw all these reviews about the new M1 chip being too good to be true, so I just said screw it and got this. Kinda sad, since it was a gift so it had sentimental value but it wasn't worth it to repair. Man... this laptop has served me so well and I still use it daily for college to this day. I was on a tight budget considering I was in high school working a minimum wage job, so I went with the base model. As a photography major using resource intensive apps like Lightroom Classic and Photoshop I was kinda skeptical about the 8GB of RAM, but this thing blew my mind flying through almost every task I threw at it. (and still do) Battery easily lasts me a whole day, and this thing is built to last. I spilled coffee all over the keyboard deck and it still works no problem, dropped it down a concrete staircase, and I bring this thing everywhere. Sure there's times where the 8GB RAM bottlenecks in some situations, but it still gets the job done.

Exactly my situation right now! Same computer and age 2017 is so glitchy now and so used up I can’t do anything on it anymore and so I just bought the M1 also! For college! Makes me happy to hear I made a good choice since I’ll also be using photoshop and Lightroom ( graphic design major )❤️ thank u for ur review 🌸

I think if i had known that the M1 air could handle light editing, I would've gotten this for my wife instead of the Air M2 and saved $250. The last macbook we've had, we kept for 6-9 years, so maybe that all evens out over time.

How did you manage to get that battery health after 3yrs?

How do you charge this MacBook? From 20 to 80%? Because very good battery health! Or you very often working on a charger?

i have it since April 2021 and the battery life still gives me +10 hours of usage EVERYDAYYYYY, I love my baby, but sadly cant use programs like REVIT or RHINO or LUMION, etc... and Twinmotion makes it to be +90ºC same with VRAY just extremely hot... but idk what to do. I was checking Legion 5i PRO which is too expensivee $1.500 usd or ASUS TUF DASH F15 which is $1.000 ... BUT I HAVE TO SELL MY MAC AIR.

It's still perfect, have had it for around 1 year and a half 🔥

A lot of people complained about the fragile screen though

Do you think apple should slow it down in the future? Thinking of future proof, think m2 would be better? (Live in Brazil, 200 bucks between then in here)

Reckon I should get this now rather than an M2 as a general user/writing fiction on it? Or given it’s three years old I should get as new a one as possible for longevity?

If you think about buying, it'd be too expensive at that point you'd better go for a Pro.

I think i going to risk to keep ot without apple care and buy accessories, good idea?

This is why we pay the premium to Apple. No BS, just perfect like the way it should.

is this M1 air really still worth buying over the M2 air in late 2023? there is a 300 $ diff between the two where I live (both at 16gb ram)

But dude one question can you play big powerful performance games ? And many apps doesn't famously open on apple , that's a downside right compared to hp ? And do you have to pay for some apps to download ? And can you play big games like gta v and Assassin creeds ? It doesn't have have graphic cards is it worth it to buy ?
