The developers of the BMW M3 and M4 have the floor. No frills; just information - first-hand from those who know best. In Episode 14, Mario talks about the "M Mode" of the new M vehicles.
BMW M3 Competition / BMW M4 Competition:
Fuel consumption in l/100 km (combined): 10.2. CO2 emissions in g/km (combined): 234.
BMW M3 / BMW M4::
Fuel consumption in l/100 km (combined): 10.8. CO2 emissions in g/km (combined): 248.
The values of fuel consumptions, CO2 emissions and energy consumptions shown were determined according to the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the version applicable at the time of type approval.
The figures refer to a vehicle with basic configuration in Germany and the range shown considers optional equipment and the different size of wheels and tires available on the selected model. The values of the vehicles are already based on the new WLTP regulation and are translated back into NEDC-equivalent values in order to ensure the comparison between the vehicles. [With respect to these vehicles, for vehicle related taxes or other duties based (at least inter alia) on CO2-emissions the CO2 values may differ to the values stated here.] The CO2 efficiency specifications are determined according to Directive 1999/94/EC and the European Regulation in its current version applicable. The values shown are based on the fuel consumption, CO2 values and energy consumptions according to the NEDC cycle for the classification.

Question - are there any limitations of the shift assist feature on the manual G80/81/82s whereby if you downshift too quickly it will not work? Wondering if I can use that feature at the track.

@bmwm It would be really nice if you can set M view to M1 and M2. Is there any discussion of sending that as a software update for iDrive 8?

Agreed - I just got a G82 and always find myself hitting my M1 button and then having to separately switch to sport M mode, just for the cooler dash / HUD view

Angličtina Mozno praska z vyfuku na novej M3/M4 pri sport+ ale slabo, urcite nie tak dobre ako pri starsich modeloch bez filtra. Proste s filtrami pevnych castic a pri hlukovych normach uz nebudu mat taky dobry zvuk ako mali.

Beautiful BMW M4 / M3. Well, the sound is weak. Previously, the models had a better sound and shot crackling from the exhaust during sport +. New models don't do that at all. They had a great sound from M-performance or Akrapovice. Well, the best sound was the M4 GTS. We thank the European Union for particulate filters.

The new models definitely crackle on Sport +. Plenty of videos show that. Also the last gen M3/M4 is known to have the worst exhaust note. I don't know how you picked the M4 GTS as your favorite. Every other M car sounds better but it is subjective.

@@nessuno5403 I'm around F80s all the time here in the US(no OPF filter) as I host car meets. They are too fart can/raspy sounding even with aftermarket exhaust. That's one of the few complaints on an otherwise great car. You really notice how bad it is next to S65 V8 and S85 V10. I'm glad they made the tone deeper in the S58 although the B58 still sounds better.
Where is the hand brake? That finger brake is a no no

@@kaeji_namitsua I was not disagreeing with Oscar. My point is, this G80 has many traditional M3/M4 traits and features missing. Plus it's badly designed and heavy.
