Once again the evidence. DE Blade shaving is quick, save, smooth. He has no cuts or skin irritations. Why should we use disposable cartridge razors? No way! DE Blade shaving rocks. I use a Merkur 37C since 2014/12 and i never go back.Blades are unbelievable cheap!

I don't get why people are so scared of R41? I started using it a couple of years ago when I was still a newcomer to wet shaving. I don't recall having any major cuts during the some two years I've now been using it exclusively. I also use Feather blades with it even though I have a very sensitive skin: works great!

+Pece17 You can really cut yourself if your technique isn't good enough, but I'd say the most important aspect of any shave is prep. If your beard has been softened up with water beforehand, it's a lot easier to shave without any pressure.

***** Yeah, I agree. Also, you mustn't shave when in a rush with any safety razor let alone when using R41. But like I said, I started using R41 when I was still a beginner without any problem and still haven't had one after some two years now. I guess I'm just a meticulous person in that sense.

Thanks for the video. I got a Muhle R41 a few days ago and have had the easiest baby smooth shaves with the least amount of effort I've ever had. I'm contemplating getting rid of some of other razors just to clean up the place a bit. My question was whether or not it would take a lot of growth off without major tugging and I think you answered my question. I still might keep my Futur if I ever forget to shave all winter though. Works pretty well for that. Thanks again.

i too, sometimes leave my hair grow for one or two weeks. i was using a trimmer before trying to put my modern razor on my face and it was still clogging and became useless. this is another example of the superiority of a Safety Razor.

RazoRock's German 37 Slant Razor Head is (with shipping costs to the UK) around ‎£21, though I assume VAT also needs to be considered (~£26?). It has been compared to the Merkur 37C and might be the cheapest option of all available slant razors.

Snatch19882Thanks! Carts were my main reason for changing to DE. I was paying €15 for 4 Gillette Fusion carts and one day I said to myself, that's a lot of money for 4 carts that are made of plastic! Then it hit me, the multi-blade cart scam that has been going on since the mid 70s when the patent for DE blades was open to anyone, so Gillette came out with the GII and every decade they added a blade as the patents ran out! Very, very clever and if men want to waste money and use a 'cheese grater shaving system' by all means that's ok, but underneath the marketing hype and sports star bluster, the simple fact is why use 6 blades when one does it perfectly well? DE blade are like the Boeing 747, the AK-47 and the Fender Tele, the designers got it right first time round!

The razor took it off like it was nothing! That's why I love DE razors. They're more unforgiving than the cartridge razors, but you feel accomplished when you learn how to use them. What's the point of a razor that gets clogged with a few days of facial hair growth?

Just had my 1st shave with my Muhle R41, using Taylor's shaving cream and feather blades, tried to go slow and get the angle right, cut myself 9 times all over my face, the razor makes me anxious and rightly so, got a close shave though! After shaving I looked like Edward scissorhands had been let loose on me, maybe I'll try a different blade? Astra or someat else.. I've no idea what I did wrong 😤😤 I'm finding that no matter what razor I use, it doesn't glide over my face very well, maybe it's my cream??, I shower before my shave, hot wet towel after that, then shaving oil, then lather cream on my face, never got any cuts with my Merker 34C razor, but wanted the R41 for a closer shave

  • @soupdragonuk

The error was the Feather blade. A few try the Feather as their first blade in the R41 and regret it. The razor is so aggressive, a milder blade, like an Astra would suffice. The other thing is to slow down your usual speed to be able to check the angle is right, and you're not turning yourself into chopped liver!.
