Ratan Kumar Choudhary (Kishore Kumar) stays with his widowed mother (Achala Sachdev) and sick sister, Uma (Noor) in the village. He is waiting for his college results. He dreams about the day when he has a job, a house and can find a good groom for his sister, and look after his mother. He narrates his dreams to his beloved sister in a beautiful song. She smiles happily and joins him in the song.
Ratan passes his BA and leaves for Calcutta where his father's colleague had promised him a job where his father had worked. In Calcutta, he takes up boarding in a lodge where he is neighbor to three other unemployed youths (one of whom is Iftekhar) in the "Bekar" (unemployed/without work) wing of the lodge. At his father's office, he finds out the manager has given the job to a relative. Ratan doesn't give up and perseveres applying wherever he can.

युवाओं को सिर्फ नौकरी के भरोसे नहीं रहना चाहिए बल्कि कुछ हुनर सीख कर अपने लिए रोजगार की व्यवस्था भी करनी चाहिए क्योंकि नौकरी और गरीबी की समस्या सदा से ही है।
I can't believe that Kishore dada was such a high class actor. The way he ran desperately in the last part of the movie. 😢😢😢😢😢
पहले भी गरीबी हुआ करती थी, फिर भी आदमी कितने सुकून से जिया करता था। बस यही एक विशेष अंतर है।

The tragic story about the t that are shown in this movie and kishore Kumar sacrificed his life for the respect of the family and their friends who love the family and the end is really good and impressive to the children that are in a relationship with their parents and thanks for uploading it to the modern generation .

पहले के लोगों के पास संतोष था इसलिये लोग कम मे भी खुश थे,राजनीतिज्ञों मे इमान्दारी थी भ्रष्टाचार नही था घुसखोरी नही थी कोई किसी का हक नही मारता था सभी खुश थे, आज भ्रष्टाचार की चक्की मंत्रियों के मंत्रालय से चलाई जाती है जिसमे सबसे ज्यादा गरीब पिसते हैं !
"NOUKARI" its not a comedy movie . this movie is based on serious matter. be serious !!!!!

The film is full of woes , despair and ailment for want of employment, in which hero kishore kumar has played amazing roll as a unemployed person in this movie....dp raahi

Aadhunik Education ka yehi disadvantage hey.... Padhai ke hisab ki job dhundhne me time waste karte rahte hey... Kuch time baad job ke layak hi nahi bachte.... Best solution.... First job kam pagar ki hey to bhi accept karlo... Paise kam ya nahi milenge lekin experience hoga jo bahut kaam aata hey...... Job nahi milti to koi karobar hi chalu kar dena chahiye apni hesiyat ke hisab se.... Mene bahut namune dekhe hey Engg starting achchi salary to bhi gadho ko Kam lagi or chhod di... Ab interview ke liye bhi koi bulata nahi....

This movie Naukari has good actors, good songs. Story is good. But script is badly written. Hero is shown doing foolish things like 1 misplaced interview call letter. Ever heard like this? Usually his servant cleanses room, and this time servant throws out that letter into trash bin. Hero can recover his colleague suicide note, but his own papers are misplaced by himself. 2 after reaching the city, he is cheated, and for no fault of him , has to spend in police custody 3 results into employer's canceling his appointment, that too WITHOUT INTERVIEWING?). AND Employer about to appoint another one. 4 somehow, he is appointed. 5 while working, shows kindness for colleague so that colleague can go to attend sick daughter, and he works for colleague. But work was full of mistakes. This lands colleague into 7 days suspension. 6 hero starts arguing with boss, for suspension order and pressures to revoke. By evening he is served dismissal order. 7 this makes him depressed and he decides to commit suicide. Where is comedy? But irresponsible behaviour of a youth towards work.... Yet the movie is called a Hit
