People forget that the HEV suit was a powered exo suit with life-saving tech inside. Outside of Gordon's natural survival skills and Hazard course training. As the player, we see Vorts mid threatening enemies and zombies/headcrabs as low ones. But Gordon happened to have the right gear at the wrong time for surviving what he faced. It was a small miracle that Barney and Shepard made it, lacking what Gordon had on him when all went to hell.

This single handedly one of the best depictions of Black Mesa's messy withdrawl I've seen. My jaw dropped watching the marine get overpowered and torn apart by those zombies. I loved the cinematography in this: the marines move around and respond in a manner that if it wasn't the source engine would look positively life like. The only exclusion to great movement would be the alien grunts: but it's such a small moment that it's entirely forgivable due to the raw passion and eye for detail exhibited everywhere.

I'm amazed. You managed to preserve and flesh out the HORROR of Half-Life's storyline, which a lot of players seem to have forgotten because we're so used to playing the game we basically blaze through it like some sort of action shooter; and we don't stop to consider how HORRIFYING the whole thing must've been to the characters in-game.

Well, you don't want to know what happened to the HECU Marines during the Seven Hour War. According to Half Life 2, what you don't understand that earth government already surrendered to the Combines after they lost the Seven Hour War. Most the outlying human military personal surrendered for joining the Combine to be part of Civil Protection and transformed into Overwatch Soldiers. "It never says anything about that.." You seems to be confused from your responses, if you look at the news article headline from Black Mesa East. Eli already mentioned that part to Freeman why earth government surrender to the Combines. Not just HECU Marines, but the entire human Armed Forces branches itself lost the war. "Even then we can't say that every single one of them are dead, there's a slim population of personnel still recognized as marines most likely." I didn't say they are all dead, most of them died, captured, and surrendered to the Combines. But there are dozens of human military resistances DID formed up a organization to fight against the Combines, and especially HECU Marine survivor such as Adrian Shepherd. But he's already inside the statis by the Gman. There's already a fangame where you played as a HECU Marine survivor such as Adrian Shepherd such as, "Half Life 2 Through the City" take place during Half Life 2 and "Half Life 2 Opposing Force 2 (It was meant to be cancelled and now it's called, "Urban Chaos.") take place during the Seven Hour War. This animation is a lot different from my favorites you made (Warehouse Resistance/HECU takeover) by having this story changing between slow tense moments and fast paced horror/action, I enjoyed it! I also hope you do more work with facial animations. And your animation for the zombies/headcrabs is really cool to see- for someone who usually animates humans in firefights, you did a really great job at making something more monstrous come to life. I feel bad for both HECU and Zombies, the amount of emotions that i felt when the last Hecu troop saw that one zombie, screaming in pain, not being even capable of controling his own body, he only screams, while the Hecu cannot move, he's bleeding, weakened, about to fade away. This is a masterpiece.

This made me feel sad for marines even more. Poor dudes thought this will be just a standard operation, but no, that is a global conflict between worlds. I almost shed a tear watching them die horribly. Salute for HECU, you have my respect. This is truly a masterpiece among Half Life animations! This is it, we have the three people that we all need. We have all played through the original, and the expansions, and animators like you bring the vision of what our imaginations tossed out there. Taking perceived memories into a visual all of us itched to view. You took the idea of the HECU, the force that felt had the power and confidence to contain anything, and showed the visceral fear and breakdown of what was supposed to be routine. Animux - Gordon's Storyline (Unforseen Consequences) BAST Brushie - Barney Calhoun (Insecurity) You: Opposing Force. You all portray the actions and events during the Black Mesa Incident in the respective of the groups: Gordon=Fear and Confusion. Barney=Normality Folding. HECU=No Plan B.

This...this just shows how fucked everyone is during the 'Black Mesa Incident'. Well, unless you are a protagonist of one of the games. The only obvious thing that I complain about is that one scene where that headcrab latches on a marine's leg, followed by what looked like a zombie biting him with its head. Headcrab zombies don't do that. They bite with their chest-maws. Which by the way you did a good job with that other marine dying by being tackled and chomped alive by zombies. Another thing, the P.C.V. that HECU marines use is basically a cheaper militarized version of H.E.V. suit's powered reactive armor. You, know, the same one that can consume the energy of a grenade blast. So, I thought that the marines wouldn't die as easily from vortiguant lightning attacks. And then I realized...that it only covers the torso. Leaving everything beside it to get grilled. Glad you showed that. In conclusion, gud job m8.

A very bleak, and realistic view (I think) of what it would be like to face the Zen invasion. You go in as a bad-ass HECU and before you know it, you are desperate to remain alive. The tag-team work between the zombie-fied soldiers and head crabs was creepy good.

This animation shows perfectly why I love the Black Mesa incident. We've seen depictions of a warzone in many works of fiction, but the Black Mesa one is my favorite by far, for a simple reason: It was a lost war. We can see how the incident goes from the HECU taking over and controlling Black Mesa relatively well, to how they are starting to lose control, and finishing with them having to retreat from Black Mesa in a hurry, heck, I might even argue it's not a retreat, is flat-out an escape. A rush to get the fuck out of there. This is why I cherish mods that show more of this catastrophe, it's just so fascinating, watching three entirely different factions fighting each other.

I fucking love this shit, absolutely satiates my love for Black Mesa and fan animations of it. Stuff like this reminds me of how harrowing this all must’ve been for the marines sent to the facility, and there’s an example I want to cite. In Forget About Freeman, your last major fight with the HECU is out in the open along a makeshift HECU campsite and some fences. From what you can piece together, it seems like these guys were about to pack up and break through the fence line, maybe to evacuate out of the BMRF on foot with whatever armour they have left. Unfortunately, Gordon stumbles upon them before that plan gets set into motion.

It really just shows that everyone in the half-life universe, every "bad" guy in the first game was all just following orders, not just some mindless machine aimed to kill the player and everyone else. It was depressing listening to it in-game and seeing it in animated form makes it even more sad.
