It makes me weep, its the song of a mother in the deep, impoverished south, wanting only the best for her son. Its a wisdom someone pours out only from the heart for someone they love and would give everything to lift up.

I always told my kids I was not proud of them for what they achieved or accumulated but for the kind of persons they were. I was happy for them when they reached their goals in life and proud of them for being decent, kind, and loving people with integrity and ethics. This song hits home for me because it basically says everything I told them. I've raised two very decent and loving kids and it's the best achievement of my life.

This song is a testament of the love of a mother that has been called home to heaven. The time that my momma passed away, I had to fly back to Dallas to lay her to rest and I was coming from her wake on a cold winter night in December. This song came on the radio when I was going back to my hotel. It’s profound lyrics and heartfelt instrumental brought peace to my soul and will forever remind me of that night. Don't deceive ourselves. None of us live a life or ever could live a life good enough to please perfection. None of us are worthy. There is one and only one man who is Worthy, who lived a life good enough to gain entrance into heaven, however he did not need to do that. Do you know why? He created heaven. He is God the Son who shares the very same nature of his Father in Heaven. The reason Jesus lived that perfectly obedient, holy, righteous & sinless life was out of love, grace & mercy as The Substitute for those who will take their eyes off of Their Own self righteousness and focus on him, the only true Saviour. Then he was falsely accused, was punished in place of sinners and died for the ones who place their trust in Him alone. I am a simple man sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It's to those who have ears to hear. Only God can change your heart. Glory to God in the highest forever and ever.

I also weep. There has been a rift between my son and I since my husband died 9 years ago. Over the last few years, he has grown up so much and is raising HIS son alone. We are slowly healing and this song says so much about all I want for both my son and grandson. We have had so much loss in the last 10 years that it has been hard to cope. My son lost his paternal grandparents within a year of one another, his father,my mother, my father, and finally my brother who died by his own hand. I was in the hospital for 6 weeks in June following a series seizures that caused brain swelling and caused me to accidentally overdose on my meds. (I am battling the same combination of illness that killed Glenn Frey of the Eagles.) Last week, I had suspicious patches on my lungs and had a battery of tests to be checked for lung cancer. The films were clear as God was watching over me yet again. This the 3rd time I've been spared from death. These situations take a toll on anyone who has to experience it with you. Jamel, thank you for reading. Sorry about the length, but I kinda feel like we're friends. I wish you and your wife a blessed day!🙏🙂

My mom had a lot of mental problems. I know she loved me dearly, and I know that the words in this song were the words she would have told me if she had known how. Toward the end of her life she became a lot more lucid, and she was finally able to tell me some of these things when we were both adults. A blessing for sure. So when I hear this song, do I ride cloud 9? Do I medicate? No none of those things. I remember a loving mother who did everything in her power to protect me and get me to manhood so she could finally be free of this place. Cancer took her from me. I like to think that maybe a part of her was relieved when it was over. God knows I miss you and love you mom and I hope you finally have some rest and some peace. I'm ok. I love you always. God bless.
