Paul Revere, my Mom as well, been gone since 1980. She always said The end times are comin and I think they are here now. For real.

My wife calls me her simple man. The first time she said that to me I took it like she was calling me dumb,but this definition was what she meant. It brought tears to my eyes. This is how I was brought up to be and for some one to see that comin out in me and say that for the first time was heart melting . Keep up the awesome site love this!

I always told my kids I was not proud of them for what they achieved or accumulated but for the kind of persons they were. I was happy for them when they reached their goals in life and proud of them for being decent, kind, and loving people with integrity and ethics. This song hits home for me because it basically says everything I told them. I've raised two very decent and loving kids and it's the best achievement of my life.

Seger and Kid Rock are Detroit style Mountain are from NYC But the Holy Trinity is Skynyrd Allman Bros, Marshall Tucker.. Dire Straits,Tin Lizzie and Clapton are Southern rock British style. It's all good. Need to play more southern Roc/outlaw country on the radio.

Ive played this for my son ever since i found out i was having a boy. I'd put the earphones on my belly. It was his bedtime song as a baby and still is he just turned 14 yesterday. It will play when he gets married as our Mother\ Son dance. And it will play at my funeral to remind him to always be a Simple Man

The time that my momma passed away, I had to fly back to Dallas to lay her to rest and I was coming from her wake on a cold winter night in December. This song came on the radio when I was going back to my hotel. It’s profound lyrics and heartfelt instrumental brought peace to my soul and will forever remind me of that night. My band played this song and one night when she was in the audience I pointed out my Mom and dedicated it to her saying I wasn't her only Son , then joked That I was Her favorite Son! We were so very close and I lost her 2 years ago so whenever I hear this song I'm usually wiping tears.

I am a female and I still feel this song in every ounce of my being. It is such a beautiful and heartfelt song. The message is so strong. I love this song so so much. I can't even express in words how much and how great this is. Music like this is so close to lost in this era. P.S. So hard to reply to this video and sing when your feeling the vibe.

Ronnie was a master song writer. His songs moved us all growing up in the 70s. His voice, the lyrics, the melodies, the guitars will live on forever. Its amazing how many artists died in my lifetime that produced such great music. The simplest songs seem to last the longest.

I saw men fly in space for the first time (and land on the moon), fought in a war I didn't understand, and grew up with some of the greatest music ever. Thank you Jamel for reminding me.

The good book says this: Proverbs 12:11-" The one who cultivates his land will be satisfied with food. The one who pursues worthless things lacks good sense." Amen!

I sit back, close my eyes and listen to the lyrics that I wish someone would have SAID to me when I was a young man! Even though no one had a talk with me about stuff like this, I tried to live my life the best I could and I try to stay humble and do right by everyone. Keep up the great work, brother!

This is my husband’s favorite song. I had the DJ play it at our wedding for his dance with his Mom. He didn’t know it was going to play - wow! His reaction was awesome! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

We all sang this at my friend's memorial service. I miss you Kyle and think about you every time the wind blows. I'm glad you're not suffering any more. The world has lost a wonderful person, but Heaven has gained a beautiful soul.

Skynyrd had a lot of party songs but had a ton that told life stories. Even the party sing gimme three steps had a very important life lesson in it. Lol

I've heard this song a thousand times, and the lyrics still moisten my eyes and the guitar solo gives me goosebumps....STILL.

I also weep. There has been a rift between my son and I since my husband died 9 years ago. Over the last few years, he has grown up so much and is raising HIS son alone. We are slowly healing and this song says so much about all I want for both my son and grandson. We have had so much loss in the last 10 years that it has been hard to cope. My son lost his paternal grandparents within a year of one another, his father,my mother, my father, and finally my brother who died by his own hand. I was in the hospital for 6 weeks in June following a series seizures that caused brain swelling and caused me to accidentally overdose on my meds. (I am battling the same combination of illness that killed Glenn Frey of the Eagles.) Last week, I had suspicious patches on my lungs and had a battery of tests to be checked for lung cancer. The films were clear as God was watching over me yet again. This the 3rd time I've been spared from death. These situations take a toll on anyone who has to experience it with you. Jamel,thank you for reading. Sorry about the length,but I kinda feel like we're friends. I wish you and your wife a blessed day!🙏🙂

My mom told me in a round about way the same things when I called her and told her I was getting married. I was 19 at the time and my still wife was 18 in 1976. I never forgot her words and though she passed away, those words still mean the world to me. I think of her "talk" with me every time I hear this song.

My son grew up listening to Skynryd. He played their music when he served in Iraq. Said it helped him in times of need over there. We played this at his funeral in 2011.

This song can pull you .right out of the fake shit we can get caught up in ,in this modern world and bring you back down to earth.

This is a song that I seek out when I start to feel stressed out about things that I know don’t really matter. It’s good for getting me refocused on what’s important at life, and tuning out the rest of the toxic distractions.

I used to make my boy listen to this when he was a small child! I was a single parent raising a son with no male roll model for him and these words were so deep and truthful 💙 my son is now 23 and a simple man!!!!

Holding my dying mother's hand at 11yo. in '82. Her basic last words to live simply. I'm 50 now and it tears me up and takes me back in that hospital every time.

My mom had a lot of mental problems. I know she loved me dearly, and I know that the words in this song were the words she would have told me if she had known how. Toward the end of her life she became a lot more lucid, and she was finally able to tell me some of these things when we were both adults. A blessing for sure. So when I hear this song, do I ride cloud 9? Do I medicate? No none of those things. I remember a loving mother who did everything in her power to protect me and get me to manhood so she could finally be free of this place. Cancer took her from me. I like to think that maybe a part of her was relieved when it was over. God knows I miss you and love you mom and I hope you finally have some rest and some peace. I'm ok. I love you always. God bless.

When I first heard this I didn’t have children, but I liked it so much. Once I had my boys it always brings a tear to my eye. As a mama, it’s all you can want for your son. I’m so thankful both my boys chose a good path.

When I hear this song, I think of my daddy. He used to play guitar and sing this song with his band. He maybe had an accent but he had a hell of a voice. He came from such a different world than the life he gave me but the idea behind this song was just as true no matter where we're from.

Ronnie truly did have a unique voice that will NEVER be duplicated.

RVZ was a musical genius. He never wrote down a single lyric. He always said, "there in my head". Street Survivors was released on October 17, 1977, my 15th B-Day. October 20, 1977, they were gone. One of the saddest days in Rock history. Check out the Street Survivors LP. Steve Gaines brought new life to the band after Ed King left. RVZ is a Rock God.

My son played this by himself on acoustic at my step dad's funeral. No vocals just the guitar. It was one of the most emotionally powerful and beautiful things I've ever seen.

"Every Mothers Son" and "All I Can Do Is Write About It" are two VERY underrated Skynyrd songs that I think you would like a lot.

Totally agree, so many great songs they recorded never made it on the radio. Now if you don’t already have it, go get yourself the album called “Skynyrd’s First, The Complete Muscle Shoals Album” you won’t be disappointed!

Skynyrd is a classical story teller. A classic on the lighter side is called "Give me Three Steps". Check it out.

This song gives me chills no matter how many times I listen to it.

Ballad of Curtis Lowe .You owe yourself a listen.Another reason to smile with whats going around us now.

@@Gutslinger The inclusion of Mr Banker made me fall in love with the box set. What a song, what a lyricist (so simple yet so great). The man was so earth bound but so inspired. I used to think that sometimes the band held him back but they were perfect. They were all touched by greatness. I wish they still had the show Man, Moment, Machine, because eventually they would have gotten around to Lynyrd Skynyrd.

@@vicedpowers1750 I'm glad you found it! It is one of my favorite songs from a perfect album. I was delivering newspapers as a kid when it was released, then I had to see the headline before I delivered the papers that day about the plane crash... I still feel scarred from that event.

I've always loved this song. After my mom died, it took on a much deeper meaning. I can't listen to it without crying now, but I still love it. Music like this touches your soul.

If you watch some LS make sure it's the original guys not his brother singing.

This is the song that reminds me of my dad, what he meant to me, and how there were no regrets between us when he passed away. Tears do flow, but from the swelling of my heart when I think of his life example for me.

I love how Cameron Crowe included this song on the excellent movie "Almost Famous". Truly a song for all times.

My only son, my only child ... knows this song is from me to him!!💜 It's even "his" ring tone on my phone.

Although I had only a little contact growing up with my grandmother I did have a great afternoon spent with her when I was 18 years old and questioning the meaning of my life. She was a very humble God fearing lady who put Christ 1st in her life. I think of that day I spent with her when I hear this.

This song makes me sway back and forth and I damn near cry. Love it so much.

Simple Man is the song I picked for my son when he was in high school and yes it’s a head bobbing and eyes closed kind of serenade from a mom to her son.... glad you enjoyed it!

I took my 14 year old to Las Vegas . Just the 2 of us mom and older brother stayed home that day .. I put on my music selection and this one pop up 1st so I cranked it up . Halfway thru my son seen a tear come down my sun glasses.. his look said so much words without speaking.. powerful music 👍

Steve Earl doesn't get the credit he deserves as a songwriter. Copperhead Road is solid for sure.

Close my eyes, sway back and forth, and sing along ... quietly. The "advice from mom" is so deep and so basic; everyone needs to understand it and take it to heart.

Listening to this w/my eyes closed is EXACTLY what i do.

Played this song at my dad's funeral 5 yrs ago, everyone said it was perfect, he was a simple wonderful man 🙂

This is one of those songs that always makes me cry, just so many feelings flow through me with this track.

This was my mother talking to me 50 years ago. I think of her, she has been gone for 30 years. I was so fortunate!

I told my son, this was my song to him. Live by these words, my only son. This song gets me to the very core. It gives me chills listening to it. I’ve loved Lynyrd Skynyrd since I was about 15 yrs old back in the 1980’s growing up in Southeastern Kentucky!
