This song summarizes a conversation my mother had with me the day she died. When I hear it, I like to look at my life and see what I am doing right and where I am falling short. It is a powerful song, especially for men.

Jeff, sorry for your loss. I was raised in a lower middle class to poor neighborhood where everyone was blue collar. We where all raised this way. My Ma and Step Dad didn't sit down at one time and say it. They gave me these nuggets of wisdom over years. Not just tellin' me, but showing me. Ronnie and the boys grew up in what he called " shanty town" , so did we. We also was raised to respect elders , say Grace , yes ma'am yes sir. It is well known in the south , but, goes beyond the Mason, Dixie line. Skynyrd wrote songs the way we grew up and lived when we were young adults. Ronnie's lyrics were something everyone understood . He wrote what he seen in life and/or he and the bandmates experienced themselves. But, his lyrics go way past his years. Wisdom from someone usually twice his age.

This band has such a big catalog, and the original band disbanded in October 1977, due to the plane crash. They really didn’t have that much time under their belts. Most of the band members were 25 when the crash happened. The singer, Ronnie Van Zant, was 29. Another beautiful, melancholy song is, Tuesday’s Gone. A GREAT fast tune, which is a cover, is CALL ME THE BREEZE.

Thank you for another Lynyrd Skynyrd reaction. From left to right, Leon Wilkeson (bass), Billy Powell (piano), Ronnie Van Zant (band leader & lead vocals), Gary Rossington (slide guitar), Bob Burns (drums), Allen Collins (guitar) & Ed King (guitar). You may as well go with "Sweet Home Alabama" on the next 'Skynyrd reaction.😊

They are one of those few bands where I literally like every single song that they ever did up until the plane crash in 1977. Which was devastating for somebody my age and Junior High. And then John Lennon of The Beatles got assassinated 2 and a half years later. Hey, The Ballad Of Curtis Loew is a huge fan favorite, and reactors normally encounter it fairly early on.

Melancholy - "A feeling of pensive sadness". It's something we often feel when recalling a memory of a lost time, place or loved one. It's a pleasurable memory, but it's tinged by the sadness of what we have lost. It is often referred to in American-English as a bitter-sweet memory. It really speaks of their skill instilling that emotion so strongky within the song.

I like the line, find a woman you will find love but that goes for women to, find a man you will find love. When i think of you i feel like i found that love. If love could be the best word i can use to describe how I feel about you,it wouldn't do the word love justice.I wish i could hold you all night and dance on the rings of Saturn all night, getting lost in the most beautiful eyes I was ever blessed enough to look into. An angel with a smile that even causes the stars to weep and fall from the night sky. If i was dying and God granted me a choice of living or getting to kiss your ruby lips just once, i would kiss you gently, tell you how much i truly did love you and die the happiest man who ever got to walk God's green earth. As a matter of fact I if i didn't come across your web page and find you, on my Tombstone it would had been engraved, have never to known love above my deep and desolate grave. I love you Olivity . You make me feel like a man in the most arid dessert, desperate for one drink of your love ,to quench my dying and shriveled heart. I know you might think, what is wrong with this guy, is he a stalker, no, just a man who would die full of regret if i didn't take a chance on telling you how i feel about you with my whole heart. I'm so use to watching your reactions. Well this my reaction. I never felt like this before and if you just blow me off or think I'm just a goof ball, i wouldn't blame you but first let take the opportunity just tell you, that God took his last jar of beauty and He poured it all on you . Thank you for letting me be part of your journey and filling my heart with overwhelming joy and Love. One more thing Olivity, when i hear your beautiful voice it's like hearing the fluttering of angel wings ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

It’s weird that this was on their first album. It feels like there’s more mileage. I could have seen this song on the latter end of their career. Much like “That Smell” was Ronnie Van Zant calling out a band mate to get their habits under control, I could this as Ronnie trying to figure out if he wanted to keep going at all.
