Yes sir, Southern Blues Hard Rock! He sings about fights, woman, guns, whisky, and street life! Their Amazing!!!
These guys were talking about the Billboard charts. Gimme back my bullets means “we want another hit” like they were older and not getting the love they deserved. #12 “with a bullet” was the actual symbol used on the chart (bullet points, etc.). So between this and “Working for MCA” they wrote some real bangers about the music industry.

Unfortunately gun lobby took it over, no matter what the song's origins are. Ain't nobody going to survive a shootout with SWAT, ATF, National Guard, Marines, Army, Air Force, FBI, CIA, Maltan Masons etc etc. This nonsense about gun panty equipment and FreeDumb already logged the evidence that most deviants and weaklings and sex offenders drool over mass murdershaft death equipment.

Well explained! You are dead on correct!😊
The best southern rock band ever! Ronnie Van Zant was a master band leader. Memorized all the lyrics to all the songs and expected the other members to memorize every note of every song. It’s one reason they put on fantastic live shows. I saw them 3 times prior to the plane crash. RIP to all that have passed.

You two are entertaining to watch thank you brothers . Oakland born, and raised 60's 70's.
Love the Skynyrd reactions! 'Call me the Breeze' next!
Live at the fox... a top ten live album.... perfection!
We ain't done, put us back were we belong on top of the charts. Best American band ever.
My top 3 favorite bands: Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Just amazing music by the boys from Jacksonville, FL. Skynyrd doesn’t have a bad song in their arsenal. Like the other two bands on my list, their music has withstood the test of time. I think it will be relevant for decades to come too!
You guy's called it. Lynyrd Skynyrd is a hard core American Southern Rock band. They were street kids from Jacksonville FL. Ronnie Van Zant in particular was allegedly a brawler. They say if you wanted to know what Ronnie was like, just listen to any 6 L.Z. songs and you would know him.
Bullets is their singles. Gimme back my bullets on the charts!
Awww, I love Lynyrd Skynyrd sooo much!!! They have such a deep catalogue of incredible songs. Total icons.
As mentioned in other comments, a 'bullet' in music industry terms refers to a fast rising song on the music charts. Apparently lead singer Ronnie Van Zant didn't think his band was getting their fair recognition by industry people and defiantly let them know through this song.

In the beginning they kept getting rejected. The only reason they finally made it was because they got to open for The Who on tour. Word of mouth finally brought them success.
Hey La and Che, a pleasure as always and I love it when you do a song by one of my favorite bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd. The song to me is about someone who's been knocked around, lost their way and / or been stepped on but haven't lost their dream and need to get where they wanna be and no one or nothing is going to stand in their way.
Lynyrd Skynyrd lead singer, the late Ronnie Van Zant, practically worshipped the old Delta blues singer named Son House.
Thanks guys for sharing.. Skynyrd was a lifestyle for many of us down south...they set a standard..⚔️🌹

When your song was listed on the charts, example: debut at 93, jump to 72, jump to 20 with a bullet for a fast riser in the charts. Bullet represented shooting to the top of the charts quickly. They had some songs stagnating on the charts and werent very happy about it.
The bullets represent a music ranking chart. Songs in the top 40 charts in a certain magazine were given bullets to show where their song is ranked on the weekly charts. Apparently, they lost some bullets and one of their songs was falling off the chart.
I got to meet the late great Ronnie van zant many years ago...he came out on stage with a fith of jack Daniels barefooted. His vocal range was absolutely amazing..live was amazing..
Gimme me back my hit songs. Bullets to the top of the charts. Bullets is a metaphor for hit songs.

I haven't listened to that in probably 25 years. I'm going to go pull a few of their albums this weekend. Thanks for reminding me. Nice thoughts on the song.
We saw Lynyrd Skynyrd so many times in Atlanta, we thought they were based in Atlanta. Fantastic band.
Someone may have already Have commented about meaning of Gimmee back my bullets. Its stems from places on the music charts the bullets next to the name of the song. They were the hardest touring band at the time, and just got a new drummer Artimus Pyle ( great notice on the drum style ) They were tired of being underrated. First three albums were with producer Al Kooper Cooley. New producer Tom Dowd on this one. Been a Fan since 9th grade 1974
They are from Jacksonville Fl. This is what I became a man listening to, growing up in Orlando. 😎

Great song with a great backstory as others have said. These guys were always one of the mainstays in the “soundtrack” in all of the parties of my life! Those parties ranged from backyard fire pits to stadium concerts and “country cruises”!!
The bullets theyre talkn bout, is the position on the billboard chart. They had a dry spell for a few years ,which caused a significant drop on the charts. This song came out attempting effort to climb back up charts. And as u might guess. It was #2 WITH A BULLET !
here in Europe we felt them like rocking cowboys...legendary..
This whole album. Damn , so fine that sweet guitar driven Southern Rock. Y'all should do this one song by song. I'm here for that , definitely.

These guys plane went down less than 50 miles from where I grew up in SE Mississippi. I really didn't know who they were at the time (I was 14), but I definitely felt the loss from my older sister and her friends. The wreck of their plane ended up in a welding shop scrap in our town and we used to go sneak in and look at it in my later teen years. RIP Ronnie Van Zant.

Skynrd is awesome southern rock! Please check out more southern rock wiyh Molly Hatchet, Flirtin with Disaster you will NOT be disappointed!
This is about the bullets on the top one hundred music charts. The song is a response about flack they got for being rowdy and unruly at times while on tour.
My favorite song from them. I love the staccato bell on the ride cymbal. It’s so signature to this track. It’s just raw rock. I wanna fight someone to this track. Like bar room brawls. It’s great.
You both have such a good ear and catch stuff I never really noticed, even though I have heard the song a million times. Good stuff, as always.
Definitely an American, best enjoyed live, rock band! Anyone who was lucky enough to see them prior to the crash, will tell you they were top notch in their heyday! I definitely became a fan after seeing them outdoors, live in early ‘76!
Recorded at Capricorn Studios in my hometown Macon Georgia. Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker Band. and Charlie Daniels Band recorded at Capricorn. Always been my favorite Skynyrd song. Thanks for the reaction.
There are SOOOOOOOOO many great great great bands from the greatest decade of modern music, The 70's. You can't count the number of bands that made Life Changing music , not just with the instruments but the words and messages in the lyrics is unmatched. There were so many different styles of rock and roll too that every nerve within the human body was touched. You have SOOOOOOOO MUCH MORE to explore, learn about, and understand what occured in that decade of the 70's. And a large percentage of these bands played well into the 1980's and a few into the 90's. RnB and Disco were also great contributors to what was coming out of our Boom Boxes/Over The Airways.... Continue your exploration into the music, bands, and lyrics of the 70's and I promise you it will forever change your appreciation for real music. Oh, pay attention to all of the harmonies that each band incorporated into almost every song. You haven't heard harmony on the radio for 4 decades/since the 80's. And done by the groups who carried over from the 40's 50's 60's and 70's... Journey On Fella's
For me all my favorite bands are deeply blues based and this band is right at the top of the list.
I'm a huge Skynyrd fan since way back in the 70's and I can't think of one song of theirs that I didn't like. They are arguably the best Southern Rock band from that era. I know, I know the Allman Brother fans are going to slay me but I did say "arguably" 😎
A pencil pusher would be a businessman/accountant in general, but Lynyrd Skynyrd also fought the battle with the recording industry that fought them for rights/control. So to me, this is a plea for more creative control---give me back my bullets--and just more sense of ease in the life. Let me be me...right? These guys are tight...Ronnie drilled 'em like a sergeant, is how it sounds! And I love that he always performed barefoot. They were hard, but in the end they had a heart, not a band to hide behind the southern flag and all that.
Awesome to hear you guys doing more Skynyrd!!! So many great tunes. My favorite band of all time. Time for another off the Street Survivors album. How bout You Got That Right?? Guitar work is outstanding!!
Good song, i really like there version of “Call me the Breeze “

Power ( and ) presence. Typo corrected .
Thanks for reacting to one of my favorite bands. Great reaction gentleman as always. These musicians were one of a kind.
Gimme Back My Bullets means: they wanted the rights to their songs that went up the chart like a bullet from MCA their record company at the time.
BEST AMERICAN BAND EVER
Funny how fans misunderstood the song title...Skynyrd had to stop playing this song live because the crowd threw so many bullets at the stage it was only a matter of time before someone got hurt...
Great drum pattern. I love how they lean right into it in the guitar solo. Ride dominate. I just opened up the whole solo. Genius.
On their first five studio albums they don't miss. Every song is amazing. This ended up being my favorite Skynyrd album, even though I love them all. It's a little rawer/simpler, probably because there were only two guitarist on this album. Not knocking Ed King, who had left the band. He was a badass musician. They got Steve Gaines on the next album, Street Survivors, which gave them a little different sound. Of course he was a badass too. I know their music has been categorized as Southern rock, but to me there's really no such thing. Rock originated from the South, thanks to the blues and country music, and artists like Chuck Berry and Elvis. Cry For the Bad Man is a great tune from this record. Or just randomly pick one to react to, and I guarantee you won't be disappointed. You can do that with any of their first five studio albums.
Back in the day Rolling Stone and Billboard magazine would put a bullet next to albums rising on the charts. The prevoius album before this one didn't get good reviews so Ronnie Van Zant was sayin give me back my bullet for this album.
Reverend!! BARS for 2023 ~ onward Cheers. 🍄🌲🍄💥✨🌈
" I like some Lynyrd though! ". Love it!👍
The bullets refers to the numbers on the charts"number one with a bullet",it had been a while since they had songs on the billboard charts
singable - great guitars - I don't have to know all the innuendos - it's their tune and meanings but I'm happy to receive and rock
Fun fact about this band. On tour in the early '90s, Leon Wilkeson awakened in the tour bus in a pool of his own blood, his throat having been cut by someone on the bus. He survived, but the perpetrator was never identified (suspects included guitarist Ed King and Wilkeson's then-wife).
They were all Street Boys, from the streets of the Westside of Jacksonville Florida.... Park St and Cassat Ave to be exact.... The neighborhood they grew up in was called Shantytown and when I was growing up there in the 80s it was called the Bottom...
This goes along with their tune working for the MCA...
ah the Skynyrd rabbit-hole- just a monster coney! Seen these guys 'live' over a 30 year span 73-03 and they never disappointed, even through many personnel changes. Deep South soul man, and very hard core rock.
Poor White boys from Jacksonville, fla, Arinamis Pyle still around., He said when he was in the M core, the called him Gomer❤😂🎉
Saturday Night Special will blow your minds.

My Favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd Song
Great reaction to this , you're right, VERY , even "quintessentially," American band! You want to hear them in DEEP Blues Mode, try "The Ballad of Curtis Loew." Slide (or steel, maybe, 'fraid I dunno!) gee-tar, played angelically, more "street" themes, a helluva moving story, and just unforgettable music. Same with , on the uplifting side, "Call Me the Breeze." AND, a hidden gem, "WINO"!! Ronnie's vocals are unforgettable there, a kick-ass song!
Ronnie was a badass tough street fighter
Thanks guys! Any song from their (last) album "Street Survivors".
Interesting thing about this song & the LP . They had like 3 weeks to write & record it as they were under contract to crank out a new record every 9 months & they were in the middle of a massive tout they dubbed the "Torture tour" I heard that when they wrapped this album , the tour bus was literally waiting for them in the studio parking lot to take them right to the next show !!!
Back in the 70’s if we was drinking “Jack Daniels” and listening to Skynyrd… somebody was gonna fight! Usually a good friend that was “pickled”! Never failed
Great format and commentary. Knowledgeable commentators-who woulda thought? Really enjoyed the video.
Bullets meaning like a “bullet onthe charts.” Even though there third album Nuthin Fancy was full of excellent classic songs they hadn’t had a hit single since Sweet Home on the Second Helping album. So Ronnie was looking for another big hit which wouldn’t come until there ill fated final album Street Survivors.
The drummer is Artimus Pyle If you really want to hear him shine listen to tracks from the live, one more from the Road record Cross Roads in particular
