Lynette Hawkins Stephens -- the Legend!

Thee Psalmist, whom I love and adore in the mighty name of Jesus!!!! She has been such a giant blessing to the Kingdom and in my world, she is the ultimate , an icon each time she ministered to the world in song......no one will ever compare to her in the way she "pastors" on stage , no matter the song, she SINGS!! 💚💥🙏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Lynette, thanks so much for an indepth view of you and your beautiful, and talented family. It's been a pleasure just hearing the experiences of a family that I've admired for a very long time. I grew up listening to the Hawkins family music, which really resonated with me during my teen and early adult years. So may God keep the blessings coming to you and the family. Totally agree…long overdue!

One of my favorite songs by Lynette Hawkins Stephens is, "I'm not the same" and "there's a war going on". I absolutely thank God for giving Lynette the gift of song. She is a fabulous creation of God. Thank you for this wonderful interview of this Amazing Woman! I loved every note that Lynette sang! Oh, and "God is" is another favorite. Thank you Lynette!

This is the first time I have seen this interview... I was a member of LC on International Blvd for almost 10 years--- I sang in Love Center Choir for 8 of those years--- I visited earlier last year before I went to my own church service at Olivet (LC and Olivet fellowshipped ALOT and still do) Lynette gave me the biggest hug-- They will always be my family!

I met her back at a gospel workshop in the early 80s..along with Edwin and Tramane hawkins..and I grew to love her presence...I wanted to shoot my shot but I respected the legacy.. So I moved on...being in the gospel since 9th grade I have met alot of female singers like the Clark sisters,the truthettes, even Vanessa bell Armstrong...but Lynette will always be the one I missed...glad to see she's doing great...

I think that was Edwin Hawkins that sang on Oh Happy Day bc the vocal sound like tenor. Lynette sang on Be Grateful

I meant that Tramaine Hawkins Actually Sang on "Oh Happy Day" with the Northern California State Choir (the Original Group that later Became) THE EDWIN HAWKINS SINGERS.* She was a young Tramaine DAVIS Then with a GORGEOUS Soaring Soprano LEAD, So you're RIGHT, She was NOT the LEAD on that Worldwide Smash but She IS the Only LIVING Superstar who Actually SANG On it., & Lynette was Too Young at that time, like in Early TEENS. She wasn't even IN the Choir YET. The Low Booming Voice that made that Record Famous Belonged to the Late Great Dorothy Morrison Combs who after a Monetary Dispute with Edwin, immediately LEFT the Group for a Solo Career, as the Hit Record placed her in HIGH DEMAND at the Time. Edwin Quickly replaced her with his Similarly-Voiced ALTO Cousin *SHIRLEY MILLER*, who WAS In the Choir & did all their early Television appearances & STILL Does the Lead on that song to THIS Day. *Trivia Note: Edwin Hawkins HimSELF Occasionally sang the Lead Vocals for the Early Parts & Outro of this Classic song.*🙏❤

There's many first families of gospel because while the Hawkins family was doing their thing Mom and Pop Winans was doing theirs and then added their many many kids🤭🥰 and trust and believe the Winans are one of the first royal gospel families 🥰👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾not taking anything from the Hawkins but Mom and Pop Winans was doing it before them I'm just saying 🥰💜💛💙❤️💚🙏🏽💚❤️💙💛💜
