    Thanks! If you like this one, you may be interested in our current van. We just finished (long story) building out a 2022 Mercedes Sprinter Van. We took what we learned from this van, and Matt took it next level.

    Your build was the inspiration for us. At the time we were in a small 2000 Flair 25' Class A that we had bought for $3000. On suite, living room with 2 recliners and a kitchen. We loved it for 3-4 week trips but we found we wanted to go into the back country more, off grid and at 8'6" wide it just did not work, although we tried. I did solar and other updates for off grid but we found we did not need all the comforts, we wanted simple and small. I really wanted a 136" van like yours but just could not afford one. SO, I found a 1994 "Shortie" Chevy conversion van with the original "raised roof". I gutted most of it, did a complete upgrade to the mechanicals (hoses, fluids, tires, brakes and radiator) and built it out very simple. I used a lot of your ideas but smaller and more simple. It already had venting windows in the rear doors and a venting window in one of the barn doors so just added a vent fan. 48" cross van bed. A 18"counter top with sink and a 2 1/2 gal grey tank, 18" cabinet above. A cassette toilet on a slide under a full height wall cabinet behind driver for storage. Seats already swivel so added a small fold up table to that cabinet wall with small storage cabinet above. Small lagoon table for passenger seat when swiveled. Fresh water tank, 12v pump, 3" HDPE "water heater" on roof. We pressurize the tank with a Ryobi battery air pump and to pump up tires. It feeds "warm" water to a shower hose, rear sink and inside sink. We have a pop up shower room. Cassette toilet is removed through access door to outside. Our kitchen is out back, under bed, chuckwagon style. Our power system is a small solar generator, 1-12v outlet is hard wired and plugs-in for lights and another for water pump. 1-120v outlet wired out back for cooking. Solar panels just plug into solar generator, also wired to engine alternator to charge when traveling. Just unplug and use anywhere. So happy I saw your build, I had already been watching your videos, gave me the boost to just do it. Opened up a whole new world to us. Shorter trips because mileage is so much better with the little V-6, usually 1 week at a time, out and in. We also use the van to power our 2 tiny off grid cabins and the water system, when we are there and for extra power to recharge our all electric off grid sail boat batteries when at dock. Powered by a small trolling motor to get on and off the dock. Our dock lot has an off grid tiny house at a lake near the ocean. We just run "extension cords" and a water hose. Our little class A is a mobile summer cabin at our "4 acre farm" pond, we still take "luxury trips" to state parks and RV parks close to home, we just don't travel all over the west like we use to. We find we just take the van, more and more, even to "luxury" places and fewer longer trips in the class A. If we are home for a short time, we find we just sleep in the van instead of moving everything back and forth. Yes we only have 1 mattress. Our home base is 1 acre, completely off grid, none of our properties or the 2 RV's have propane. Repurposed log scaling shack on the east slope of the Western Oregon Coast range, 12'x24' with a 2'x7' bump out in bathroom. Gravity fed spring, home built solar hot water heater inside the sun/living room/kitchen for warm water. We cook with solar oven and inverted 12v....James

    Thanks for sharing your van/off-grid home journey. These stories are wonderfully inspiring. Connecting with people who take the resources they have and build a dream is heart warming to us and a big reason we keep plugging away at our channel. Best of luck to you in your travels and off-grid life in beautiful Oregon (one of my favorite places.).

    Clarity is a very homey well outfitted van. I’m sure you will miss her. How exciting to be building out a new Ford Transit Trail! I hope Ford has improved their delivery system. Ford started my Transit passenger van build in Sept 2022, finished it Oct 2022, didn’t ship it until Feb 2023, and it finally arrived April 2023! I finally have it and it’s time to start my build!!!

    My best on your next endeavor. I agree, the 136 is perfect for two even on extended treks plus great mileage. We did a 3 month Alaska trek summer 2022. Thanks for the all videos. Doug in the Tan Van

    That would be a great new first van for me. I've been looking at the prices they are scary 😨. Make you want to change your mindset. How much is it going for, please? What's the mileage on her, or is it male? Lol And what needs to be done to the vehicle? Thank you, sincerely

    Thanks so much for your interest in the van. She sold a year ago. I placed a notice on the top of the description, but I understand that it may not be visible depending on the device you're watching on. We're wishing you luck that you find the perfect van.

    A new Promaster 159" 2500 high roof is $50k. A new Forest River Ford Frame 25' Class C Loaded is now $80k. I'm trying to justify your price, sir.

    This van has all the comforts and features of a tiny home on wheel capable of long-term living and traveling. I believe if you compare the features and the systems in this van with other similar vans that the price is fair. Of course, we'll always entertain an offer if you are inclined. Cheers. Thanks for watching.

    I have always looked to your van build for inspiration. I too wanted a short standy van. I love your very thoughtful use of the space! You guys rock! I have enjoyed watching your videos with Clarity, but also on your homestead. Will you post the asking price for the van?

    We did sell it! It went to a lovely couple who were thrilled to have her. We are now completing our 4X4 Sprinter van build and hope to hit the road soon. You can check out our latest van if you want to on our channel or on our website (www.clarityoffgrid.com/van-life) Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Why did you sell it?

  • @ClarityOffGrid

    @ClarityOffGrid

    Good question! We live in the mountains and we realized that we really needed a 4x4 to get up our driveway and to get into the back country. Otherwise, we really like this van and build. We sold it to a couple who it's perfect for.
