The reason Liberia liked you so much at the end is beacuse your reputation was so low that it caused a Integer underflow (meaning you reached the lowest possible 64-bit value your computer can work with). Which caused it to flip back to the max value which is 2^64. Tom Scott has a good video explaining the subject which I highly recommend watching to learn more on the subject. (It’s called “why 1970 will brick your phone”

I believe that was a regular 4-byte (32-bit) integer, a 64-bit long long could reach much higher values (a little above 9 quintillion signed, 18 unsigned). This was probably too much of an edge case for the devs to even know it would cause an underflow, hence why they didn't use a long long.

@@Irishcountryballwastaken exactly, it’s easy to skip and it gives the creator much more money than ads. the dude with 7k subs probably isn’t making a ton off of ad revenue, so it’s a good thing that he got a sponsor.

I feel like release HoI4 was the perfect first grand strategy game. The AI was laughably stupid, winning wars meant getting stronger with no downsides at all and it wasn't mechanically complex, but all these things would gradually get improved over the years until we have the pretty solid game we do now. I can imagine for veterans of the genre, and especially established fans of the franchise, HoI4 would've been like a knife in the gut and a kick in the balls, a giant middle finger rushed out cheaply to cash in on the new DLC model established by EU4, but for me, it was the perfect introduction to my favourite genre.

it was and still is quite a good game. I've played the game since the release and enjoyed it pretty much. Nothing game breaking, solid experience that could take you on a journey for entire month
