I'm not crying, you are!! LoL I love this story. We watch the movie every Christmas Eve. I found the book a few years ago and I found this little gem by accidentally tapping it while listening to a totally different radio program. Luv it!!!

Our local theater showed this movie on the big screen recently and after watching the movie about 15-25 times in my 60 years I still shed tears when George was at the end of his rope!

Isn't it amazing how much we enjoy this classic using only our ears and imagination? Who needs a video feed.

💯 but it’s also because it’s still relevant. Sad that it is… but it’s something that still gives us hope

I watch this movie whenever I face obstacles that seem insurmountable . Reminds me of how our life can be extraordinary even in the ordinary.

This story always gets me teary - even at 59. Thanks for posting the radio version and Merry Christmas!

These classics mean more to me than they ever did at 53. I find myself immersing myself in them more and more the more mainstream television continues to embrace the fake-ass, phony, woke, joke it continues to become which is why I got rid of it and my local provider in the first place. Going on 8 yrs now. Most of my entertainment comes from these old radio and television classics online now. They have become a godsend to me. It's the only good thing I can think of when it comes to the digital age as a whole to be frank. Otherwise they could stuff THAT where the sun don't shine too for all I care.

My dad just recently passed away and this was one of his favorite movies

I searched this out after I read a book about Its a Wonderful Life. The book mentioned the radio show. So happy someone shared it. Great to listen to.

My children and I listen to this story year round. Such a good message for all.

Always a favorite movie, and recently I re-listened to it via these amazing Lux Radio Broadcasts- which I love. Imagine my surprise when I realized that this program was broadcast on the very day I was born! How cool is that? !

Grandma Walton Ellen Corby made her appearance in the bank scene Jimmy Stewart kissing her on the cheek!

I always loved this movie. Only Jimmy Stewart could've done this role. One can only dream life was like this. That good triumphs. Let's just say that there's always hope.

I can just imagine Jimmy Stewart’s family…Father…Mother…and his other relatives sitting in the living room around the radio in Indiana Pa on 03-10-47…Listening to this program.

We can get through this thing alright but we've got to stick together. We've got to have faith in each other. Amen.

Thank you so much for posting this radio verssion. it's well - wonderful :) Jeez, i was lucky growing up when i did - these kinds of movies and books are not made or written anymore. they are about people as they are - they help each other, they have loving families and they care! We don't have that kind of zeitgeist any longer. and, Wow, what an actor Jimmy Stewart was - and Donna Reed - so many wonderful people worked on this film and others like it (Mr. Deeds Goes to Washington). (Ward Bond was in the film before he was in "Wagon Train".) this radio production was so well done - - the rewrite got it all. it's been a particularly hard month (Nov. - Dec.) with the lockdown, the election, and it's been like 9 months now. i wasn't in the mood for the holidays at all, but this show and Jimmy Stewart have revived the spirit i used to have. Have a wonderful Holiday Time - call people, Zoom people. Decorate your place with red and green, or blue and white, or whatever and put up lots o' twinkling lights - have a special dinner even if it's your favorite pizza. and Keep safe. Enjoy as much as you can. . . :}

Christmas Eve 2020.

This is my favorite Christmas movie. This popped into my recommends. Love old radio programs. Love, love the movie. I hope they never remake this. It’s a tradition in my family and now my kids, and hopefully it lives long. Merry Christmas 2022

I think you'll find the movie came first.

I could imagine myself, Sitting on the couch in the living room of a warm house, with my Husband Jim sitting beside me on the couch, a warm big throw blanket covering our legs, our four children, our 5-year-old youngest son named Ben, our 6-year-old next youngest daughter named Zoe, our 7-year-old next oldest son named Tyler, and our 9-year-old oldest son named Liam, would be sitting on the floor, We would be listening to this on TV, the fire in the fireplace would be burning, the four stockings with the kids names on them would be hanging by the fireplace, The Christmas Tree Decorated up in Christmas Ornaments, Lights, Christmas Star would be in the corner of the room, outside our house would be decorated up in Christmas Lights, and The Christmas Lights would be on, Outdoor Christmas Decorations would be out on our Front Yard, Then Just when the movie was about to end, the kids would be fast asleep, My Husband Jim and I would be putting them to bed.

Lux Radio Theatre did a number of radio adaptations of feature movies in that era, often managing to get most if not all of the original movie casts for the radio versions as well and if not a cast of some of the biggest Hollywood and radio stars of the day to do the parts.

The movie of this is great too. 25th of September 2021 from Ireland x

I love this movie

The first time I saw this movie back in the 90s when I was 12 years old now I'm 40 still watching this is the greatest movie I ever seen. The story happened with George it reminds my life little bit.

If you folks like mysteries there's Wayne's old time radio on you tube. Johnny Dollar is an Insurance dectivtive who always solves the case...great listening pleasure. There's also loads of Dragnet with Jack Webb the same guy who played Sgt. Joe Friday on the TV version.

I sure missed out on much. My Dearest Mother was born in 1940. I came along too late - I was born in 1980. One actor I liked very much was Lionel Barrymore. But he passed on over twenty years before I was born. My Dearest Mother was so lucky to have been born in 1940. Damn.......the envy!!!!!!!

Because the English language is a combination of numerous languages - toilet derives from toilette (French) - as Karen states "toilet water" or originally - eau de toilette. Further the word toilette also refers to "the process of washing oneself, dressing, and attending to one's appearance".

I know it feels that way, especially lately. Especially when families are supposed to be together, but many of us are struggling. I just want you to know that even though it feels like Pottersville to many of us now, in our hearts for many of us still, it’s still Bedford Falls. i've always loved this movie, and i always will! and i love this Lux adaptation of it, too! there was another adaptation of it on KCET (channel 28, in Southern CA) called "Merry Christmas, Mr. Bailey." it featured Bill Pullman, among others, who i really like, too. :)) GOOD STUFF! cheers, my friend!
