I first heard him when he was with the group "Change". I used to rollerskate to "The Glow of Love" and "Holiday". His voice told a story like no other and it was so smooth!

I am five years older than Luther if he was alive today. Where was I when he was doing all that beautiful music? Surviving in New York City, 9/11, bad marriage. What a gift to hear him now. What a talent and so horribly sad this beautiful black man was. Luther, I know you are in a very good place. God Bless you.

I remember this segment. I had no idea years ago that he did a jingle for general electric back in the day. This was awesome. I am glad that my late mother, and late grandmother turned me onto his music as a young kid growing up in the early 80s. I’m very proud to say that I have his first three CDs. His music makes me think of my mother and grandmother who left this earth two years after each other. My mom passed on 2013, my grandmother passed on 2015. Rest in peace mom, grandma, and Luther.

His first album dropped a year before I was born, I'm now 40 and love this man's music, what he stood for during his life and life's work as an artist! Regardless to what people may have thought about his sex life, Luther was my uncle via music in our household growing up. With that being said I will and still defend him no matter what because his music is timeless, talent can't be matched, and voice will always be Luther R. Vandross! Love you skinny or big, I just love and miss the man who captivated my ears as a kid growing up!

I share your sentiment. I was almost 3 years old when his first album debuted. My mom and my grandmother played Luther Vandross a lot. Now both of them are gone. By the way, a little fun fact for you. Did you know that he and Freddie Jackson was in the same math class? And as you know both of them is from Harlem New York. By the way, I just turned 45 last month and I'll be 46 in 2024 in November.

@ProfessorB Media Luther sang with Change on "Searching" and "The Glow of Love", he didn't sing "A Lover's Holiday". That was someone else. Change was really a studio band the line-up was, rather aptly, constantly changing.
