Lyrics:
[Chorus]
Give me the reason to want you back
And why should I love you again
Do you know
Tell me how, how to forgive and forget
Give me the reason to love you now
It's been a mighty long time
And the love that used to be
Ended the day you walked out
Never knew I'd ever be
Standing alone and outside
With no one to love

It`s the words to this song that hit me to my core when this song came out. I had feelings for a girl and she knew i was a good guy. But she chose the other guy in which he broke her heart. But my heart was broken by her, and she wanted me and i couldnt see myself with her after the fact. Like the song said Give me the reason to want you back. I remember this song in the summer of 1986, I was 16 years old about to be 17 lol. Music was so good for me during the 60`s, 70`s ,80`s, and 90`s ( The soundtrack to my life.). All I listen to is old school music. So I agree Nina, Luther was magnificent.

1969Makaveli , I agree 100%. I too was 16 years old. we had dreams, big ideas and our whole lives ahead of us. music said who we were, how we felt and what we wanted out of life. there was a song for everything we was going through.
