Saw this on TV as I really wanted to check out what that band with such a great name were like. It was early '91 - I was 12 going on 13, getting into the Cocteau Twins, Pixies, The Cure, Ride... thanks to older siblings. I was spellbound, and saved up for Gala for months - my first CD. Lush have been my favourite band ever since. Between '89 and '94 their musical output was perfect. I wasn't as into their different direction in '96 but bands change, and there was still some very good stuff. In concert they were amazing. Even friends and family who weren't into them were hugely impressed when they saw them at festivals. I also dyed my hair that colour but never managed to rock it as well as Miki did. 😊 Absolutely love Blind Spot EP, which they released for their reunion in 2016. In my opinion, it recalls the period between Sweetness & Light and Spooky. Gorgeous. And Miki always replies to questions on Twitter and Instagram. So obliging and down to earth. Can't wait for her book!

@@erickrause381 The revival version of Lush from a few years ago did release new songs that I liked.
1990/1991 were very very good years for music, because were just coming out of the 80’s, and still hanging on to that 80’s sound a bit. Then “alternative rock” and “grunge” started taking over and changing everyone’s tastes, and the 80’s style lost its coolness.
Ride, lush, galaxie 500, jesus and the mary chain, stone roses, c. Twins, awesome band from my generation, so cool vibe
Say what you want.. This song structure is so cool.. Just love this one..
Transcendental music of my generation. This and Galaxie 500...warm memories...
Saw them live on the reunion tour Sept. 2016 and had no idea Miki played this tune on a 12-string. Still love this tune after all these years!

Siouxsie "Kiss Them for Me"
That bloke in the front is trippin' ballz. The 1990s, eh?

@@putucoq3 I think Split is amazing - and the Hypocrite E.P. But yeah, between Lovelife and the many B-sides for the three singles off it, there are about 30 tracks, of which I only like 10 or 11. @@unakennelly from what I remember from 2016 EP it was decent for the time. But Split is mediocre, if you compare it with the initial works and even Spooky, which is a record of ups and downs. And after Split Lush is just unlistenable.

@@unakennelly each to its own I guess but comparing early material in Gala or even stuff in Spooky against random Split songs makes me puke. Some Split stuff sounds more like modern rock or alternative and I think that is terrible for the legacy of a band like Lush

Saw this tour in Dallas. Got there early, our van parked just up from their bus. Drinkin' beer with the doors open when Emma walks by. She stops and chats with us. I buy her a poem from a homeless man. Later my friend realizes he's forgotten his ID, so she sneaks him in the back door as part of the crew. It was a fun day. : )

I saw that show, too. Dambuilders, Weezer before they got huge, and Lush headlined. They were great that night.
I read in an interview that the Rickenbacker was too heavy for her to play much live, but she used it a lot in the studio. I think you can hear the difference on the records.

Anthony ynohtnA - Agree wholeheartedly with the first comment - on the second, I always had that problem with the Strat copies I had as a kid, but the modern USA Fenders I've played tend to be a bit more rugged - of course, Emma and Miki have their guitars slung a bit lower to make room for *heh hem* - well, you know... So the odd enthusiastic strum could well knock the switch... :)
Wow! Still wow!
Miss you Chris.

miki...you have a heavenly voice
A reminder of just how *great* this band was live. Lush was the real revelation at Lolloapalooza. I dug this song, but didn't really expect them to put it over so great live. And to think they downplayed their musicianship, aside from Chris. This was tight as the proverbial watchspring.
I have that exact same guitar the other chick(not Mika) is playing. damn, I'm sitting smelling coffee right now, listening to this I'm totally taken back 20 years. Time really flies.

heres a few. IMO stereolab(beyond a shoegaze label) is one of the best bands ever for 90's alt music. Catherine Wheel(the ferment album is amazing), Ride(No Where), Pale Saints(In Ribbons).. Ride live at Brixton is on here some where.. The song leave them all behind, is epic. Guitarist Andy Bell played Bass in Oasis for a while... Pale Saints, Throwing back the apple, got some airplay on MTV 120 Minutes..The Charlatans UK and The Stone Roses are two other awesome 90''s bands... Enjoy the Music!

Peak of their prowess.... So much potential. So many good songs. They could have been the female Radiohead WAY before that even happened, but they got a bit lost and a bit pushed by labels and powers to other ways. Too bad. This band was SO GOOD when they had it going in the right direction.
