Actually, many Kenyans, if not Africans in general are very well spoken. You don't need to be royalty to be well spoken in Kenya or Africa. Plus, when talking about royalty, I will tell you from a Kenyan perspective that if you think this is 'royal,' then you haven't met the 'real royal Kenyans.' They will blow your mind off with their eloquence. Trevor himself is not even close to 'royalty,' and just look at him. Chimamanda aint 'royalty', and just look at her. Pure brilliance and eloquence oozing off them like nothing else. Ha ha haa! And you haven't even met Akothee yet. Real eloquence.

I am a white guy living in Austria, a predominantly white country with a black population of 0.3%. I dont really know any black people and I dont have any black friends. But let me tell you this, I absolutely loved Black Panther, I loved how fresh it felt after so many movies being more of the same. And not only Black Panther. Luke Cage, another series with a majority black cast, just finished it yesterday, amazing as well. I loved it. And from what I've seen of the first episode Black Lightning might have been good too from a character standpoint if only the action scenes wherent so ridiculously fake and bad. So please Hollywood, take this from a white guy with no connections to the black community or black culture, please hire more black actors!

I'm someone who mostly defends Marvel movies as not just being "more of the same" and even I thought Black Panther was more of the same. It would help is the story wasn't the same as the previous Marvel film. Only without any charm.

Thank you for inspiring me to look up influential black scientists. I never knew that: James West was part of a team who invented the electret microphone, which is used about 90% of all modern microphones, Percy Julian was a chemist whose work contributed to the production of cortisone, steroid and birth control pills and who also apparently developed a fire retardant foam used in World War 2, or that Marie Maynard Daly, produced research that helped advance the study of heart disease by linking high cholesterol and clogged arteries, and Dr. Patricia Bath invented a less painful version of a laser probe to treat cataracts. You learn something new every day. :)

diulikadikaday Hollywood really believes that movies with non white people will do poorly because we don't have "universal appeal". They can't imagine a movie with a bunch of black people doing well in China because Chinese people can't relate. As if they can relate better to a bunch of white Americans.

One of my favourite parts that they got historically correct was the initiation ritual of the black panther. Social anthropologist Victor Turner studied this in africa and he observed three stages that individuals had to go through in order to become kings. First they were stripped of all their credentials, their goods, their position, everything, until they were the absolute lowest in the hierarchy. Then they were ready to enter the liminal stage in which everyone in the tribe could do to them whatever they wanted. He was supposed to be demeaned and treated poorly. Only after having survived that, he was allowed to be crowned and become the highest in the hierarchy. The purpose of this was to make him understand the power he had over his people and hopefully never treat anyone who was beneath him as poorly as he had been treated. Can you imagine how much better our lives would be, if Trump had had to actually work as a cole-minor for a month, before taking office? Can we please make that our system?

As a fellow nerd, one of the things that I loved most about Black Panther was the focus on how science and technology was a critical aspect of Wakanda's greatness. (Hence, Shuri was my favorite character!) As an unabashed SJW, one of my frustrations with many "successful" African-Americans is that they tend to be in entertainment or athletics. Helping children understand the importance of STEM fields, and helping them develop a love and desire to go into STEM fields will lead many more to successful careers than a focus on athletics and entertainment. I genuinely believe that Black Panther can be a social pivot point that helps lead more kids, particularly black kids, toward a love of, and careers in, STEM! I really wish I heard more discussion about this aspect of Black Panther! Sadly, the only massively successful, African-American I can think of in the STEM field is Neil DeGrasse Tyson.

How is it different? Because it has lots of black people in it? Or because part of it is filmed in South Africa in which there is an ongoing genocide of the white racial minority? The innocent CHILDREN who have never done anyone harm are being DROWNED IN BOILING WATER SO THAT THEIR SKIN PEELS OFF AS THEY DIE IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN. That's Wakanda for you. You can thank Disney for subsiding genocide.

This is outstanding! She's absolutely beautiful, smart and she was great in 12years a slave, but she is quite a force to be reckoned with here. This is what we should inspire all of our daughters of color to be!

She is so wonderful. I knew from the moment I saw and heard her that she was seriously such a special human being. Everything about her just radiates positivity, grace, intelligence, and pure beauty. Truly a role model for me now.

Black America stomped its feet until mommy and daddy gave them a feel good movie and hollywood made a mint off it. Black America deserves NOTHING you dont think the rest of every other race see's how violent and shitty you people are guess again. You should be ashamed this movie came out. You whined and cry'd till they made $$$$ of you. Good job you freakin Dalits.
