Lupe has no equal when it comes to putting pen to pad. He’s in a whole different league. Waaay beyond music. He’s one of the greatest writers.. PERIOD.

“And if the rain stops, and everything’s dry she would cry so so I could drink the tears from her eyes” I think I’ve seen that that is a Lauryn Hill line he is referencing but they way he puts it in the song for this story is crazy. Hip hop reference that is relevant shows his genius.

Bruh... Whenever I try to explain the Lupe lyrics to a non-listener I get so deep in it because he doesn't slack in any area. You can talk about the concept, or the literary devices, or the poetic nature of the writing, or the content, or the music. Most artists give you one or two categories. Lu marks all the boxes

This is exactly why I consider him the GOAT because he can grab high scores in ALL categories. He doesn't have the BEST flow like Andre 3000 or the BEST lyricism like MF DOOM, or even the BEST technics like (arguably) Nas or Eminem, but he does do EVERY aspect of rap at an extremely high level which is something VERY few rappers do.

Okay dude. I'm starting to see why you like this guy so much because I'm starting to become a fan of the bars myself. I'm even finding things like for 1, commissioning the tattoo on her chest. When I was a kid here in Chicago you used to see R.I.P tags on the walls. Before the city of Chicago started cracking down on graffiti. And then secondly, that laugh in the bar about getting a KEY from the and laughing in his girl's face because she hasn't given him anything lately. It the identical laugh from The Notorious BIG's "What's Beef? Where I think the second line in that song is "I put my key you put your key in, money we'll be seeing, will reach the fucking ceiling".... Which shows me that Lupe is a study of the rap game if he's biting BIG from 97... Dope AF... I caught some other stuff but this comment is long enough already. LOL

All these years I never noticed the laugh similarity. And I’ve heard that biggie song so many times lol. Great catch bro. Also. If you look at the picture of the streets, she’s got a heart pendant with a key hole and he’s got the solid gold key.

I'm blown away that this series has so few views compared to other videos on your channel. This is my second or third time watching it, and you do such a great job of breaking a very complex idea into bite-sized (eyyy Gotta Eat is up next!) bits that are easier to swallow. Obviously there's too much to the MYH saga for you to cover absolutely everything, but this series is what made me a fan of yours more than anything you did on NF or whatever was popular at the time. And you turned me into a Lupe fan, which is why I'm back again after listening through his entire discography a few dozen times over the past year!

Amazing breakdown. I never went it to the whole MYH story like that. I didn't realize how each song was related to each other.
