I am a Respiratory Therapist and am studying for my pulmonary function testing credentials. I have been performing PFT's on patients for close to 10 years, but I have gained so much *understanding* from this ONE video; I can't thank you enough! Understanding these concepts has helped me tremendously in studying for my RPFT credentials. I am excited how this knowledge is going to help me in testing patients!! Thank you for this wonderful explanation! I'm going to binge watch any other lung videos you have!! :D

Hi sir thank you for your brilliant video, really helped me to build my understanding on this subject. However, I have one slight confusion sir... how is it that the intrapleural pressure is prominent in determining the flow of air in and out of the lungs when it’s just an empty space between two membranes that is not connected to the outside environment. I just can’t picture how it works? I would understand if it was intrapulmonary pressure but I don’t understand how it is the intrapleural pressure. I hope I make sense and would love some clarification. Thank you! :)

Pleural cavity is not an empty space.. It has some fluid in it.. And pressure changes act on that fluid.. See his pneumothorax lecture.. U will understand
