Lung Cancer Screening Increasing at Ohio State
Ғылым және технология
Ohio State doctors are hoping to dramatically increase the number of people who undergo lung cancer screening, which can significantly increase the chances of potentially life-saving early detection.
Screening for lung cancer - the largest cancer killer in the U.S. - has proven to reduce deaths by more than 20 percent.
The following people qualify for The James Lung Cancer Screening Program:
- 55-77 years old
- Current smokers who have had a two-pack-a-day habit for at least 15 years, or a one-pack-a-day habit for at least 30 years
- Ex-smokers who have quit within the last 15 years
"If you think you qualify for lung cancer screening, do not hesitate to discuss it with your doctor," Michael Wert, MD, said. "Lung cancer screening is incredibly low-risk, and can be life-saving."
