Thank you im new to digital and this is big on my bucket list. Got to shoot the 2023 super moon for my first moon. Not to bad needs to be a bit more clear. Its clear enough to see the mountain ridges around the edge. Im use to shooting star trails and night scapes since 1977 on film so digital is just the next step. Thank for the photo tips ❤

I hate doing this but I am a moronic pedant. The moon is tidally locked and the dark side never faces us. Great video and very useful thanks. I am yet to capture and image I really like and this will help me to get there. Liked and subscribed.

Thanks for the tips! While researching the topic of lunar photography, I located several websites which provide "moonrise times" and "moon phases" for a given location based upon the month and day of the year. The "altitude" of the moon above the horizon is also provided based upon the time it's transiting the night sky. This information should help photographers plan for the optimum time to get prepared to photograph the moon without wasting time waiting for it to peek above the horizon.

What is it about many KZreadrs that we're asked to subscribe and/or like without having seen the video content? I'm at 1:08. Please tell me what's to like at *this early point* in the presentation? I will continue to the end and make my decisions.

Stabilization can be your friend. I have an xt-4 (apsc) with the 70-300 and can run full zoom up to about a quarter second without issue completely handheld. Half a second becomes challenging.if I can brace myself up against something steady, half a second to a second becomes not unreasonable. I figure the challenge in that setup should be comparable to 500-600 mm on a full frame.

I would argue that with the superior image stabilization of 43rds cameras, it will be easier to hand hold and shoot the moon.

What he means is the "unlit" side of the Moon, because the Sun and the Moon are on the same side of the Earth, rather than in opposition!

How can there be a “supermoon” on May 21 but a lunar eclipse on May 26? The close perigee is May 26 coinciding with Full Moon and the lunar eclipse. I think someone got their dates mixed up. Plus Harvest Moon is usually defined as the Full Moon closest to the equinox, which would make the Harvest Moon this year on Sept. 20. See www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/moon/harvest.html You’re defining it as the first Full Moon after the equinox. I think you’re getting it mixed up with the Full Moon that’s sets the date of Easter. I enjoy your videos but do get your astronomy right! Clear skies!

"new moon is when the dark side of the moon is facing us" ... That's a bit weird to say it like that. There is no other part of the moon facing us, it's still the same part of the moon's hemisphere but dark.

  • @migranthawker2952

Exactly - it's dark rather than lit by the Sun, therefore in the New Moon phase the "dark side of the Moon is facing us!

Stop begging for subscriptions, thumbs up and alert bells and all that crap especially at the beginning of the video before anyone’s had a chance to actually watch it. It’s pathetic.
