Yeah, I did notice that, and was going to ask about it. I suppose the Earth shields our side of the Moon from meteorite impacts to some degree?
Kudos for those little maps showing each crater's location. That was a nice touch.

Yeah, I can't make up my mind which are scarier, those that narrowly missed the Earth and hit the near side of the Moon or those that were heading for Earth but were stopped by the far side of the Moon.
Let's take a moment to be grateful that Earth has an atmosphere.

The moon is very SUS
Just spitballin' here but do any of you think we could build a simple dome or cover over one of these craters to turn it into some sort of pressurized habitat?
@fiberbuild
9 ай бұрын
Sure! Cement the crater like a swimming pool, create an enormous lake, create a floating city and create the dome with millions of clear blocks (igloo). Domes will be connected via tunnels. Cool question.
@mateuszbanaszak4671
9 ай бұрын
Humans are very prone to do crazy crap, so building 1 kilometer dome isnt impossible. Having a small forest on another planet sounds sweet. Ofcourse all living and managment buildings will be build separatery, and life-support-recreation dome will be build as its own thing, only connected by some airlocks.
@joshuaboring4770

Neat idea... buuut it kinda doesn't address the problem that put the crater there in the first place. An asteroid strike hitting the moon with enough kinetic energy to displace tens of kilometers of material will go through a manmade dome like a styrofoam cup. You see many large craters that have little crater impacts in them as well, so long lasting bombardment is an issue. You may get away with underground structures if they are deep enough, but it defeats the purpose of building a cool domed-in crater. Add to that the quakes that even a non-direct hit would cause to established structures. I'm not read-up on the seismic impact of asteroids on low-gravity environments, whether that would be better or worse, but it would be a problem, I imagine. Ultimately I think our moon is best suited as an early-interception landmark than a possible habitat.

@@joshuaboring4770 Very true. There's just not much on the moon to be worth the effort of settling there, let alone putting a whole urban population on a cosmic bullseye, and daring nature to try its luck.
I wonder which is the youngest known larg crater.
You know the craters start getting big (and old) when there's craters inside of them.
Well let me just say, thank you moon for taking so many hits on behalf of team Earth.

Great video. I really love the music as well. Parts of that song kind of reminded me of the "28 days later" movie soundtrack.
Hope we see the monster size video next.
Nice video! But you forgot Mare Orientale, one of the largest and certainly the most beautiful lunar crater... please include it at the end of your presentation.
Por cierto, buen video 👍 Hey MetaBallStudios, according to me you are Spanish, so if you read this, do it, you could make a video comparing sizes of submarines, for example, some of subnautica, like the seamoth, seatruck, or cyclops
Awesome! How about Martian craters or mountains next? :)
That's great 👍👍👍❤
Curious note: since Earth is more massive than the Moon, our planet attracts more meteorites than its satellite, but because Earth has tectonic movements, abundant liquid water, thick atmosphere, biodiversity, etc, craters are poorly preserved.
the moon has taken so many hits that the craters have craters within them
Tycho is a lot smaller in diameter than I thought. Still has the most impressive impact rays, though.
What an outstandingly good video. Interesting and marvelously presented

AMAZING!!! 😲
Hay alguna razón para que los cráteres más grandes estén en el lado no visible de la luna o es solo coincidencia?
@DonVigaDeFierro
9 ай бұрын
Pues, la Luna recibe más impactos del lado no visible. Supongo que es cuestión de estadística: Entre más impactos recibe, mayor es la probabilidad de que reciba un impacto grande, comparando con el lado visible.
A good idea for a next size video maybe all the characters from lilo and stitch even all of stitch cousins since it be a big video. Just a thought
