    LOOOVe your 2 choices of lens. I have been searching for the best video lens for the longest time, and I just hit the jackpot because of your video. And the fact that one can get less than 18mm with the speed booster on the Tokina is GOLD. Thank you very much for this video.

    Awesome content a usual! Question for you please... At 0:42-0:45 you are using what seems to be a dolly zoom, is that correct? How did you achieve that exactly? Were you backing up while zooming in at the same time? I tried this but I lose the focus... Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

  • @raksh9

    @raksh9

    I have the Panasonic 12-35mm f2.8, and it is a much lighter and smaller lens than any full frame 24-70 f2.8. It also focuses much faster and delivers a true 24-70mm equivalent focal length range on the GH5 and other m43 cameras, and gives the added benefit of dual-IS 2, where the lens OIS and camera's IBIS work together to create an even more steady image. The problem is that if you compare it with the Canon 24-70, you will very likely use a focal reducer which will change the focal length range, so they aren't really comparable. For example, the 12-35 is an effective 24-70 f5.6 in terms of focal length and comparative aperture/depth of field. The Canon lens with speedbooster will have a wider apeture, closer to f2, which on the GH5 would have similar depth of field to f4. So you're getting the ability to use lower ISO values, have more shallow depth of field, but at the expense of losing on the wide end of zoom, and a much bigger and heavier lens.

  • @DashonHawkins

    @DashonHawkins

    4 жыл бұрын

    The focal range is 2x for a 35mm full frame equivalent. So 18mm - 35mm with the 0.71x Metabones Ultra Speedbooster (not the 0.6) gives you almost a full frame, but in doing so it gives you that extra full stop of light.

  • @StennyThomas

    @StennyThomas

    3 жыл бұрын

    You would multiply the micro four third equivalent (a crop factor of 2) by the focal reducer size (.71 for the ultra) and multiply again by the lens Full frame equivalent. In essence can think of it as 1.42 x the focal length of your lens to get your FF equivalent focal length. The sigma 18-35 then becomes about 25-50 mm Full Frame Equivalent. With the speedbooster the sensor can be thought of as going from micro four thirds size to APSC size.

    I've used the 24-105 v1 with the G9 and Speedbooster XL. It is a very versatile combination, quite light for a good range zoom, but I ran into problems not too long after I started using it with the Speedbooster. The focusing motor and aperture started to malfunction and eventually became useless, and I'm not sure if this was because it reacted badly with the Speedbooster, or if the lens was going to become faulty anyway. I replaced it with the Sigma 24-105 and have had no problems with it at all., although the Sigma is a lot more heavy and thick.
