E Retro White
PC fullplate, Gasket Sock mounted
Luminkey (Gateron) Lubed Linears
PBT Doubleshot 9009
NOTES ABOUT TYPING TESTS:
Typing tests are recorded with a matched pair of rode NT5s in stereo AB orientation with no limiter, compressor, or any other processing. Loudness is normalized at -23dB LKFS. Mics are placed at ear level and head distance from the keyboard to offset proximity effect.
For an accurate sound test experience, use headphones and turn down your volume until the background noise matches that of your environment, or the volume of the keyboard matches your typing loudness. Do not listen to typing tests at full volume if assessing the keyboard sound.

You got me at the end. Also, 10000%, it is kind of a niche situation, but the amount of times I needed to use a board when building a board/soldering/whatever and am too lazy/don't want to plug in a board makes me wish I had a wireless board

  • @mr6291

I've kinda embraced wireless as well. I do a lot of PC gaming but... on a couch on a big TV. I also prefer mouse and keyboard for most games. So it's either running long USB cables or, well, some good wireless. For me, that means using 2.4GHz connections. Been using a QK65 for a while now but looking forward to my Cycle7 when it arrives.

My impression: Nori spring rider + hard case + WKL (and tsangan) + weight + cooler side profile $280 vs $180, i wonder which is the better buy. Its definitely cool to be seeing more prebuilt options.

Question: Which one has better case build quality and better guts; the Luminkey80 or Neo80? It's crazy, I wouldn't concider this board a collectors item but that extra line/ledge in the side profile reeeeeally makes me want to have it.

Their 65 is great for me personally, can’t compare to the 80 (seems similar though). Maybe they refined few things for the 65, dunno. That being said, Luminkeys “budget” boards tick all the boxes for me: - tri-mode, hot-swap pcb in 1.6mm (so many only do 1.2mm) - ISO layout (WITH hotswap, not just solder like many others) - stepped caps lock - nice design (side profile not as simple as many others) - low front height I mean, all those points in a 140 price tag, it‘s crazy. Guess it isn’t much different for this one.

I'll certainly get a cycle8 soon, just chatting with the designers about potential changes for the international release As for the neo, I'll probably be getting something similar, but not the neo sadly

@@Blacksimon Since I could China I've bought a couple as bday gifts for some close friends, but I'm still curious if I should hold my personal unit until the intl GB. Aside from the "accommodating" internal weight, does the planned international GB warrant the wait?

It’s a good board for sure in the entry level aluminum keyboard space, my only gripes with it is that it uses the same boring poron mounting style as all of the other Q series boards and the right spacebar is a bit further to the right than I’d like. I’d recommend you look into the Weikav Record. Definitely a higher quality board for lower cost although it’s basically a clone of the Owlab Spring

If you review it as a pre built, left all the foam in. If you take the work to remove all the foam, just get a custom like cycle 8 or neo80, which smack this thing in weight and finishing(qk's newest anode is smoother than keycult when they was made by dds ngl). A neo80 with amazing finishing, ss weight, tri-mode with 1.6mm pcb, 0 flex cut on both plate+pcb is 150$ and I think they still offer the fully built version for another ~50$, and that's 2.2kg built, and going to be instock in china before lunar new year. If you talk about fully prebuilt and can use 75% too, wobkey rainy75 is only worse than this if you left out the case foam, otherwise just as good with actually better ecoat quality, and that is 100$(if you bought using taobao, that config is 55$) fully built with better switches than gateron matcha imo(hmx switches is so good). So conclusion: decent(aka mid) board, bad pricing in a bad time when chinese keyboard pricing is so fucked for other brand.
