I think I am ALMOST finally absorbing the reason you duplicate a layer. You've made adjustments on the duplicate layer and then changed the blend mode for a different "look", rather than make all those changes on the base layer - is that for simplification or can the look you want only be achieved by working on a duplicate layer b/c you then have to change opacity? On a separate note, the "rule" you mentioned about the amount of blur being equal to your camera's megapixel size was interesting - hadn't heard of this before.

Hi Holly, thank you for your message. You are correct, I tend to use multiple layers in my workflow. I must admit that some of it comes from Photoshop 😂 Regarding your first question, the desired look can only be achieved by working on a duplicate layer. As for the blur versus megapixels, it's a traditional rule, but ultimately, it depends on the specific look you're aiming for.
