What about Ahsoka meeting Anakin himself? They’ve already got Hayden coming back for the Obi-Wan series, so it would be easy to bring him over to the set of Ahsoka with few people knowing about it. I could imagine a scene where Ahsoka maybe thinks all hope is lost in achieving her goal, when her old master shows up to tell her that nothing is impossible, if he can find his way back to the light, then there is always hope.

I have thought since TLJ came out, that's how you fix Luke in the movie. Luke married Mara, they had a child and Kylo or Snoke killed Mara and the child. That would make it so much more believable that Luke just vanishes like he does and stops being 'Luke'. He loses his Jedi academy AND his wife and child. It's the only way to make the sequel's even make a little bit of sense in regards to Luke

And as time went on, the world moved on and so did I. Star Wars turned into something I no longer recognized. The Mandalorian and “The Rescue” in particular, is the greatest thing in Star Wars that I have seen since 1983. The fact that I watched it with my 77 year old father made it all the better. Just imagine if we see Ahsoka visiting Luke in his new temple after hearing the news about this mysterious Jedi from Bo or Din in her show. And they talk about Anakin and Padme, she’ll learn Anakin redeemed himself, he’ll learn a lot about the old Jedi order, the clone wars, his mother and father. Maybe he can even convince her to return to the order again who knows. All I know this would be really emotional and epic. Force Ghost Anakin watching them from the distance and smiling.... 👌🏼😭

Most certanly Ahsoka knew of Luke allready by now but did she met him we don`t know that, maybe she did at some point right after ROTJ, she certantly felt when Darth Vader-Anakin died because she figured from Rebels when she fought him at that Sith Temple that Anakin turned to dark side a became Darth Vader. She even told that to Mando in a way when she refused to traind Grogu that attachement, fear, anger can destroy the best of Jedi meaning Anakin. So she knew-felt Anakin redeemed himself at the end before he died to save Luke.

@@Jackman1st Sure, that's why everyone in that room was like who is this mysterious Jedi... majority in the core worlds most likely heard his name as the hero, some might even think he is a legend and not a real person even, kinda like in the sequels. But I don't think not many see what he looks like, his face. If Ahsoka knew who Luke was, at least if she knew about his surname, there was no reason why she didn't contact him. (Plus if she knew him she would've said to Din something like ''Take him to Luke Skywalker'', but no, she just said there aren't many Jedi left, kinda like she doesn't know he is the one who is training younglings at the moment.) And I don't think she knows this hero is Anakin's son, yet. I hope she doesn't know all the details, because I want to see her reaction to it on screen. Maybe she sensed Anakin's presence again, but she might not know the reason yet. Even if she knew, I still want them to meet.

I've been thinking about this entire thing for some time. The Luke scene in the last season of Mando was straight out of the classic Hero saves the day at the last moment. No one thought Luke was going to have this moment again after the Sequels, at least not me, especially in any live action orientated show or movie. I was wrong. We see him move with grace and precision, as if he was flow-walking to overcome these Dark Troopers with ease. To see him speak with humility and stoicism, and to also see R2-D2 again alongside him was literally a dream come true. This was such a perfect moment that felt genuine, not forced, and completely true to the story they were telling in Mandalorian. I cried, I smiled, I laughed, and most importantly, I have hope that the future of Star Wars will continue down this path of telling well thought out stories that are given great care and consideration to these characters we know and love. A New Hope once again comes in the darkest of times.

If Mark Hamill only lent the voice and his likeness then he didn't have to be on set. I bet it is a mixture even with the slaughter sequences, a mixture of Max Lloyd Jones and Mark Hamill. I don't see why they need a stunt man because the actions sequence did not amount to a stunt double. I am even willing to think that it was all Mark Hamill because with technology you can reshape people to any size especially when it was a cloaked figure which disguised the body-shape.

In regards to the conversation going on in and around 40:03 Another reason the fighting in the prequels are seen as “theatrical” is because this is the Jedi at their prime. The reason the fighting in the Originals is a little rougher is because this is during an Era where the Jedi Order no longer exists. There isn’t many Jedi teaching other younglings the ways of the force and saber combat in general. It’s not till after Return of the Jedi when Luke is looking for more knowledge that he develops his fighting style and refines it and tries to bring back that elegance from a more civilized age. This is why that hallway scene in Mando works so well for me is because you can see his progression 100%

Vader was trained as a Jedi, and as a sith. So it makes no sense for him having no style. Let alone being beaten by Luke, but that is another story. I think you are creating lore explanation for something that doesnt need one. Whatever you think, the true is that they are old movies. Legendary missed kick from Luke also comes from no Jedi teachings? No, it is just an old movie. That is why duels in prequels are destroying OT in this matter.

  • @craskpillord

    @craskpillord

@@akilisimm I disagree, there are many factors that lead to Vader losing to Luke. He’s not in his prime as Vader during Return, Vader during Rogue One was pretty much at his peak in the suit during that era. Also the amount of pain and torture he has gone through since becoming Vader has affected him greatly. He’s an old man he’s still super strong in the force but he’s no where near where he was in finesse and sheer agility like he was before Mustafar. Also, as Return lays out very clearly he had no intention of beating Luke. He was willing to let his son strike him down. He wanted to die, it wasn’t until he saw his son give up his own life for his father that Vader truly makes the step to redemption. Yes you can say the films are just “old” but it all makes sense. You’re free to disagree and I’m not saying this is fact this is just how I feel after watching the films over the years and reading and watching George talk about all Six films. At the end of the day film is subjective, even taking George’s word for things is subjective. Once we view the movie in the theater or at home it’s up to us take make our conclusions about what we see and how we feel it all meshes together. So I actually adore that you disagree with how I feel. It’s fun having these types of conversations

@@craskpillord that is why I said vader's lose is another story. I mostly agree with you about this outcome. @@akilisimm i agree, the imagery of the prequels are absolute marvels compared to the OT, however despite the technology I think the OT will pass the test of time far into the future. The OT fights are jank, but the faces and stature of the characters just scream dramatic tension, its more of a thriller than spectacle. The prequel duels are just so... Fluid. The only duel I enjoyed from the prequals was anakin and count duku's rematch, that was some real tension. But the duel of obi wan and vader is dragged on and all the tension fades away... However luke and vader's last duel is legendary its a fight for the ages, the drama, the music, its the culmination of three films. In the end its a story of a father and son, good vs evil, redemption and forgiveness, the oldest story we have, light vs dark.

Did anyone notice that the ending where mando removes his helmet to look at grogu is very reminiscent to the ending of return of the Jedi where Vader looks upon Luke with his own eyes. The father/son relationship is strong with this one

Favreau said in an interview that the decision to show Lukes face was last minute, which is why the deepfake doesn't look as good as it could have. Originally they were going to leave the hood of the cloak obscuring his face. So glad they changed it.

Wow, I'm glad they changed that idea. The idea of handing Grogu over to a Jedi that doesn't show his face - especially with Din removing his helmet in the sam scene - would have been weird, and kind of irresponsible on Din's part. What they did in the end was better.

Theory says he doesn’t see Grogu returning to Din, and I hope he’s wrong. Grogu and Din were the heart of the story, and as cool as it is that Grogu is with Luke and the Seige for Mandalor will be, I always thought Star Wars was about family, and Grogu and Din become that family. Their love and bond for each other was why I watched the show, and seasons upon seasons without that foundation feels hollow to me.

Man i love the discussion you guys have right in the beggining about the arts and how important they are.....politicians are always trying to remove funding for them right from the start.....but the arts open the mind up to so many things beyond entertainment...music has a mathematical component, writing scripts and lyrics open minds up to writing in general....if people see how the arts can relate to nature you can open up your mind to things like quantam physics.....so the arts are so needed not only for the soul but the mind.....even for people who have mental illness things like music can offer a tool for focus and output for emotions. Anyhow thanks for mentioning that and it makes so much sense why people felt so emotional to see an archetype like Luke expressed the way the character was meant to be....well at least for this part of his life in the time line...although the time line may get blurred when the ashoka series comes out and I'm all good with that heheehhe.

About the whole "The Prequel lightsaber fights were too theatrical/extravagant" point- In The Phantom Menace, it's literally explained that the Jedi had been nothing but a space peace keeper force for the Republic for about 300 years. Which means it was very likely they hadn't actually engaged in proper sabre combat for that time too, but instead had just been fighting mere criminals/underworld members etc. So of course, with having little to no conflict, the Jedi would have had 300 YEARS to perfect their Sabre mastery, rather than having to rush out padawans to go and fight in a war of some sort, so with all that time to perfect their Sabre skills, they would naturally produce techniques during fights that have that level of control & Mastery. So why people may think it was all too "theatrical", the fights were actually just right.

People forget the Jedi are actually magic users. The Force is magic. They have foresight. The Force also can be used to augment their physical abilities. All that combined means that we were guaranteed to get the fights we got in the prequels. If we got anything less than what we did, I think many fans would've been a little upset about it.

What Theory says about Anakin and his sudden/not-so-sudden journey is absolutely correct. BUT I will say, as a kid that sat in the theater in 1977 to watch Star Wars, George Lucas is not a very good director. He's an idea-man. He's a creator of worlds but as far as crafting a story narratively and visually he is lacking. In a actual director's hands, Anakin's journey could've been as compelling and impactful as Theory states it is. George didn't do it justice and that's why for MANY, Anakin just seems to suddenly turns dark. The prequel Trilogy's story in the hands of Favreau and Filoni would be incredibly different and would only then rise to the heights that Theory feels it already is. ;)

@StarWarsTheory I know there's a fan theory that at some point down the road that using the Veil of the Force Disney will undo the sequel trilogy. So here's my theory is the timeline has already been changed in Rebels when Ezra saved Asoka, she should be dead. However this season we already see the changes in the timeline, first thing is rumors of her existence lead Mando to her. Which helped free a planet but also got him the spear, secondly she told him where to go so Grogu can contact a Jedi with the force. Yes this lead to his capture but I'd argue that the setting may have been different but Grogu would have been captured either way. The rescue would have happened similarly but with two key differences no spear to beat the Droid or stop the Dark Saber and no Luke to save the day. So in the original timeline Luke wouldn't have become Grogu's master and Grogu possibly becoming Ben's Padawan brother. Who knows what effect this will have on Ben. I think we're in uncharted territory the sky's the limit. Either way we'll learn more in the Ahsoka series.

We have so many other great SW stuff to discuss now that Dave and John Fav have reinvigorated the franchise. And I agree with Theory about Anakin. He was having a very serious mental health crisis but Yoda and Mace just dismiss it and him to suck it up. Anakin needed compassion (and some counseling). I think it's likely that Faverau and Filoni are playing a long game waiting for Kathleen Kennedy to leave the franchise. I think an alternate future for Star Wars has already been setup. When Ezra saved Ahsoka in the World between Worlds I think we got a divergent future for the franchise and they are doing what they can at the moment but when she leaves they will negate largely ignore the sequel trilogy. They'll incorporate elements of it just like they incorporate legends material but there will come a day when their timeline is very different from the sequel timeline.

I really hope they tie in all the living Jedi at some point. Luke meeting up with Ahsoka is a big fan wish so that Anakin's son and beloved Padawan can learn for Luke what his father was like prior to corruption & for Ahsoka that he master was redeemed in the end. I'd personally like to know what the force ghosts are upto now too. Cal Kestis and crew crossing paths at some point could lead to Luke's Jedi academy since Cal is searching for force sensitive kids. Old man Windu could be somewhere being a grumpy git stuck in his dogmatic lightside ways of the old Jedi order which Luke rejects. Maybe Luke ends up having to defeat him because Mace recognises he is Anakin's son. Mara Jade must exist somewhere?

Last time Disney said „This will be Game of Thrones-like“, we got „The Inhumans“ 😀. But I‘m confident, that The Mandalorian will not gonna fail.

Has anyone figured out who set up Grogus protection from season 1 when he had a bounty on him? If not, it would be nice to find that out in future shows if they go back in time.

Good question. I would love to know who rescued him, who set up his protection AND how he was discovered by the imperials assuming any Jedi left were in hiding.

@@skkahl3400 they looked like pirates. Hondo’s pirates even. Maybe Hondo take the baby from a Jedi who he knew and hid him. I think bad batch or Kenobi show will give us an answer to that. Hondo knew Kenobi and Skywalker. I can see a random Jedi saving Grogu too but maybe it was really Obi Wan.

The Mando 2nd season really jumped forward in quality. Season 1 was a great intro to the bigger galaxy of Star Wars but S2 moved the whole story forward more than anything else since ROTJ in 1983. In 1977 I was a schoolboy of 15 who was mesmerised by George Lucas’ vision, but my kids will tell you now I was as giddy as a schoolboy watching the S2 finale with Luke just ripping apart those Dark Troopers. Thanks John and Dave, Star Wars is finally in safe hands...so awesome! Best wishes from a 58yo long term fanboy. 👍😎

I love the passion when discussing Anakin. So true and such a great character.
