Yes they do. They have great chemistry because they genuinely like each other. They love each other platonically. I like watching them together because they depend on each other. But people want to read into what they want to see.

Luke Newton had this incredible glow up and is now finding himself. He is a young 31 year old male and is looking at life through a different lens. Nicola needs a man - man someone mature , and really into her and ready to commit. Nicola and Luke have an amazing 5 year soul friendship and that’s adorable. As long as Luke Newtons GF (who he’s known since December 2023) and her friends and her family don’t say or do anything nasty towards our Queen 👑 Nicola I’m good!

Well said! Nicola has mentioned time and time again that she sees him as a friend and nothing more. Also, I agree that she needs someone mature and on her level intellectually. Not that they both repeatedly said they weren’t dating REPEATEDLY or anything.

I don't understand why some people view him not being with Nicola as a personal rejection. I think they can't separate him from Colin and the fantasy that created for them. Luke and Nicola are clearly close and great friends, since you can't fake the real affection between them. Not all great relationships have to be romantic. They said on many occasions that they have a close relationships as friends. Yes they flirt and have great chemistry, but that doesn't mean they lied to people. It is sad that he likely kept it out of the media because he was afraid of the negative backlash which is a pretty sad commentary about social media and how people behave. At the end of the day, these people are actors and they aren't the characters they play. They deserve to have their privacy. I'm always shocked when people say they can't believe in a show's romance when they find out the actors aren't together in real life. I think there is an element of people who don't have romantic love in their own life and are projecting that, but it becomes destructive when that shifts to them doing it to the actors. I hope people will leave them alone.

I loved the chemistry between Luke and Nicola and I hope that this friendship doesn't end and it would be very cool if Antonia and Nicola were friends too, that makes the relationship between Luke and Antonia so much smoother. Yes people, you can be best friends with the opposite sex with that person being in a committed relationship. As long as everyone is secure with each other it works! I've been married for almost 34 years and when I was dating my husband he introduced me to his best friend who was a woman 3 years older than him and if she liked me then he knew we would last forever. I loved her at first sight just like I did my husband and she soon became my best friend. Sadly we lost her to brain cancer a few years ago but I never felt anything untrustworthy between them, she was like my 2nd sister, my husbands big sister and our kid's Auntie. And yes, she was right there when we got married, she didn't want in the wedding party but we sure partied before and after and she was a part of my bachelorette party And the grooms party.

Luke & Nicola have mentioned quite a few times in interviews that they are really good friends. I guess people just get too aborbed into the drama. Let's just ship them as Polin in the drama, books & fanfiction will do, and wish the best for Luke & his new girlfriend.

There's so much noise about who Luke is dating, when more attention should be on how talented and brilliant Nicola is. She is a special actress, and I eagerly want to see her in more movies, not just Bridgerton. She doesn't need Luke to be spectacular, but in my opinion, Luke needs Nicola to be noticeable.

The problem with this is mostly the fact of their timing. They could have waited a week to release this info "yeah you see me romancing a woman who meets all the beauty standards of the regency era, but in reality I am with a tanned skinny model type as you'd expect" is what it is giving. Also people's parents say a lot about them and his gf's mother liking all the hate comments on Nicola isn't sitting well with me--likely the reason why they announced this right after the finale came out.

Bad PR timing. Many people knew about it also so these things appear more like advertising to me for careers with effects of the good and the fall out of the bad. If the timing had been given a breather from the less than 24 hours from the drop it would not have left the impression on me that things seem messy overall. I honestly think people are so in need of a romance relationship in their lives, they go to the extremes of shipping two very much REAL persons (not their characters, which would be normal). Disregarding their thoughts, feelings, and a number of other things. They want what they want, and if the persons involved (in this case: Nicola and Luke) don't go according to plan, all of sudden, one of them is a villain, or a bad person, or... You name it. I don't see anything wrong with what has happened. We all knew this was a PR stunt. It was OBVIOUS. They behaved like scripted while being themselves, and since they were in it together and friends before that, what better way than going through this that with your best friend? Sometimes chemistry isn't sexual, but people see what they want to see. I'm sure things would have turned twice as sour had it been Nic the one coming out and saying she's in a relationship. She's been already subject of slander because of her weight (because, duh, fat girls, or in this case, curvy ones, can't be leading actresses **I'm rolling my eyes so far back inside my head, I'm feeling muscles I didn't know I had**). Thing is, we have Polin. They were promoting POLIN, not Lukola. People need to grow up. If they love this couple (even if they are just friends), then support them as artists! That's their dream, being artists, so give their private lives a break. We should care about whether they are good on stage/screen, not worrying about who they go to bed with at night. Either way, I hope to see more of their work. And for God's sake, people, go watch season 3 if you so desperately want them to be together 😂.

There is most certainly a connection between Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan. Unfortunately as humans we look at love through a narrow window. I feel Luke is to Nicola as Charles is to Camilla (King and Queen of England). People have a "connection" That goes beyound sexual ...it's on a different level. They may not be a "real couple" on screen or off" They are a couple in a very, very strong "friend zone" in that kind of love Nicola could careless about his sexual romantic love of this woman. Whatever these two have going ...Luke & Nicola have this friendship bond...is more beautiful than one built mainly on sexual attraction. I fear the current girlfriend or those to come, will see this connection and they will have trouble dealing with it. They are 100% for sure "in love" In Greek we say Philia (φιλία, philía) means "affectionate regard, friendship", usually "between equals".[8] It is a dispassionate virtuous love. Unfortunately, any future romantic partner of Luke and Nicola will NOT understand this connection and jealousy will eventually drive them mad. Luke's future partners and Nicola's. Lastly, these actors didnt plan this connection, it grew naturally. To me it's the best kind of love two people can have❤.

The age difference 37 and 31 is different than the age difference between 23 to 31.

They were holding hands and showing chemistry because they are on a show and promoting it... This is like ryan r. And jack for wolverine and Deadpool its just good for the pr also makes everyone hyped to see it.

I have to say I love Bridgeton the series and books , I love the chemistry Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton have together as actors and friends but I know It may sound rather strange but I personally have very little interest who dating who for pr publicity and is dating outside the show as To me they are just like actors like any other, their lives outside the show have very little value to me as I only care about the story line and characters in show and book but not the actors
