Luke's first two games reflects the skills needed to be competitive within the standard of play set by top players.

Amazing how Chris Mellong has a very acute sense of determining when the cue ball has completely come to rest on the final ball of the 6-red shootout. I stopped the video and stepped through frame-by-frame. He had started to thrust the cue stick before the cue ball had settled, but the tip hit the cue ball a millisecond after the cue ball came to rest. I had to step through several times before I could determine the legality of the stroke.

Great match, but it's my first time watching this. I can't say I love the shoot out. It would make more sense to let them finish the race in my opinion.

I totally agree. The 30 second shot clock keeps it watchable for tv and one extension per frame is a good idea too. I don't like the 15 second shot clock as I don't think players play their best. Continuing the race would be good but I do like the match clock.

@@JohnOConnor65 I usually watch 9 ball and they have a 30 second clock with one extension. I like that better than a match clock. I agree it's unwatchable without a shot clock though. Some players just take forever.

Without a doubt. I was a good player in the 80s & 90's but not quite at Luke's level. He is a joy to watch.

25:19 He lines the shot up as if hes going to play low on the white ....then plays it differently as he strikes the ball.

He had started to thrust the cue stick before the cue ball had settled, but the tip hit the cue ball a millisecond after the cue ball came to rest. I had to step through several times before I could determine the legality of the stroke. I thought that it was a bit careless, as he should have known he had lots of time, and an extra quarter second to make absolutely sure of the legal hit would have been called for.
