Lugg & Roll Trailer Test Ride with the Can-Am Spyder F3. Trailer Hitch addition to the Spyder

In the video I review the installation of the BRP Trailer Hitch on our Spyder. I take the whole rig for a test run to assess how it performs

    Thanks for your detailed reply I really appreciated it. You have a cool looking F3 and trailer. That's what I would like to get for my wife and I because they are fun and safer for us and very relaxing to ride. Enjoyed your video, thanks.

    I'm thinking about getting a spyder like yours. Do you have an F4 windshield ? Why didn't you choose an RT ? Would you recommend the F3 limited ? Thanks

    I do have the F4 windshield. It made a real difference over the OEM one, especially for the passenger. There is video on the channels about that. F3 vs RT was more a fit issue for me. I am 6’ 4”, all leg, the F3 has adjustable driver foot boards that give me more leg room. I believe that the 2020 RT has that feature now.

    Does the adaptor fit on the end of the F3 wire harness or the trailer pig tail harness, I have a 2016 F3 with the flat 4 pin connector and I cannot find the adaptor to connect the trailer to the bike at the moment?.

  • @BikeBoatandTravel

    @BikeBoatandTravel

    In my case the bike has a 4 pin square which is the standard connection that comes with the BRP trailer hitch. The trailer needs a 4 pin flat so I needed the adapter 4 pin male square at the bike end and standard 4 pin female flat at the trailer end. If the connector on your bike is 4 pin flat there would not be any issue unless you are getting a BRP trailer. Am I interpreting your question properly? if not let me know. I got my adapter from Spyder Extras. spyderextras.com/shop/details/104/SPYDER-EXTRAS-F3-RT-TRAILER-WIRE-ADAPTER-SF3RT-TWA Let m know if I be of further help.

    Is that your safety chains hanging there? Isn't there a connection for those on the hitch?

  • @BikeBoatandTravel

    Yes to both. I opted for safety cables over chains, quieter while riding. They connect to the hitch the same as on a regular car hitch. Thanks for you comment and your interest in the channel.

    Before you go to far on this trailer they are made in Quebec, Canada. To the best of my knowledge they ship from there only and there is no retail presence. I changed the safety chains for wires (quieter). I bought the tie down rings on the inside haven't used them (see video on this in the channel). I bought the stand for storage. I would recommend the carpet liner. All in (2020) mine was ~$3300CDN including about $400 shipping, prices have changed. Here is a link to their website, they are great folks to deal with luggandroll.com/motorcycle-trailer.html. Best of luck.

    Where did you buy your Lugg and Roll, and why that compared to the BRP trailer?

  • @BikeBoatandTravel

    @BikeBoatandTravel

    3 жыл бұрын

    The Lugg and Roll Trailer was purchased directly from the manufacturer, Podium Trailer. They are located in Quebec (luggandroll.com/motorcycle-trailer.html). The short answer to why this one over the BRP was cost. The BRP Freedom Trailer in Canada would have been well over $5,000. This trailer with shipping all in was about $3200. Aside from that I did check it out with others that had purchased it in the past and the reviews were very positive and there was no difference in capacity. Thanks for you continued interest in the channel.

    Thanks much, like the Lugg and Roll, but the cost may be prohibitive coming from Canada to me in Florida. I know I won't be doing the BRP, again, cost prohibitive. Yes, I try and follow you, good ideas and presentation. Thanks again for the reply.

    It was the other way around we had the F3 first and now the RT. We like the RT better overall it is a more comfortable ride especially for the passenger. I don’t do my oil changes any more but when I did I used the BRP XPS kit. I did a video on the whole process here is the link Can Am Spyder F3 Ltd. Not to the best of my knowledge. The Spyder trailer hitch does have an additional mud guard that should block a very high percentage of rock and debris from the back wheel. Thanks for your comment and for your interest in the channel.

    @@jeffreysims1865 no I haven’t. The reason being that the mud flap that is attached to the trailer hitch follows the suspension of the rear wheel. It would have to be a very steep angle for it to hit.

    Hello, fellow Spyder owner and motovlogger here. Why did you go with the Lugg and Roll and not the official Can Am trailer?

  • @BikeBoatandTravel

    @BikeBoatandTravel

    4 жыл бұрын

    The short answer is cost. The BRP trailer in Canada with taxes was close to $5k vs $3k all in for the Lugg and Roll. The Lugg and Roll has a bit more room than the Freedom 24 vs 21 cubic feet. I am on a road trip at the moment and the performance of the trailer is very good. We have it fully loaded and I don’t even feel it back there. No vibration or movement even at highway speeds.

    Very stable. We have taken it on major highways at more than 100 Km/h (60+MPH) and I don't feel or observe any issues. Although the primary market for this trailer is motorcycles, the company that manufactures it includes it behind small cars in their advertising also.
