Lugansky - Rachmaninoff, Étude-Tableau in C minor (Op. 39, No. 1)
Музыка
Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943)
Études-Tableaux, Op. 39 (1916-1917)
No. 1 in C minor. Allegro agitato
Nikolai Lugansky, 2021
Mariinsky Theatre
"Étude-tableau No. 1 in C minor introduces the listener to dark elements that break out of an abyss in terrible culminations and disappear in it again. Its eerie character is emphasized in the middle part before the reprise when to the measured tread of chromatically descending bass the stage seems to be thronged by demons, arising for a brief moment and passing into nothingness again."

Yes i’m totally agree with you !! Have you seen who is posture is natural ?? Great piano . Thanks Mr Lugansky
I'll never understand why nobody rolls the LH of the next to last chord. This adds incredible drama.

I do!
In my view, this etude is harder than any of Chopin's and Liszt's .

@@eminsakovic4744 It's very far from most of liszt transcendental études, and I'm not even talking about the Grandes Etudes which are simply on another level. Feux follet is obviously way more demanding than this piece, but the same goes for half of the transcendentals at the very least. Plus, the technique is very different so one might find it harder than some of liszt's etudes, but I reckon it's still a level below it

@@tulip6347 I'd say it's on par with transcendental no 10, or 12. Shorter and less demanding technically, but way more difficult in terms of musicality and rythm. It's very hard to read and to understand how to make it sound good. Also, very difficult to reach this speed (I know I can't)

I can tell many chopin and liszt etude the harder than this etude Chopin op 10 nr 1,2 op 25 nr 6,8,10,11 Liszt transcendental nr 4,5,10 and paganini etudes la campanella and etude 6
best of the best
Sounds incredibly difficult and it is difficult, but in reading through it, I find that the piece fits very well under the hands which makes not as difficult as one would think it is at first glance.
Pour ces études-tableaux, j'ai un faible pour Zlata Chochieva, plus claire me semble-t-il (mais c'est certainement dû aussi à l'enregistrement), moins brutale, et techniquement époustouflante aussi.
