Lugansky - Chopin Nocturne Op. 27, No. 2 in D♭ major (2021)

Музыка

Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849)
Nocturne Op. 27, No. 2 in D♭ major (1835-1836)
Nikolai Lugansky, 2021
Lento sostenuto
"... The D flat major…is through-composed and goal-directed, and its construction is immensely subtle. There are two alternating melodies, of which the first is non-repetitive and aria-like, elaborated with an ever more expressive ornamentation, but remaining essentially static, if music can ever be static. The energy and momentum is provided by the second, stanzaic melody, which is developmental in character. Here the ornamentation has a rather different function. It is not so much an expressive enhancement of the melody as a means of driving the music in a dynamic and evolutionary way towards its major tension points; in other words it plays a key structural role in the music. Taken together, the two themes represent Chopin’s ornamental melody at its finest. The opera house was one obvious influence; Mozart another."

Thanks very much for your channel. I'm a real fan of Lugansky so I collect recordings of his performances in Novosibirsk. In his last recital (09 Sep 2023) he performed his own transcriptions from Wagner's Ring cycle: 4 transcriptions from Götterdämmerung and a paraphrase of Brassin's transcription of Walhall from Das Rheingold. As for the last paraphrase, there is no video of its performance on KZread. If you want, I can send you the recording and you may publish it

Did you attend the concert? Enviable, and what a generous offer! Over the years I’ve established a set of posting rules, one of which is to publish after the repertoire has retired from maestro’s current recital program. Upon your suggestion I wonder maybe they wouldn’t mind if we post just one current piece … while l mule over … is the link below the performance you are referring to? If not I would be grateful to receive the video, plus any correction on the information drafted under the description. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fI2k1qN_j8nYmKg.html

@@EnchantedWanderer Yes, one of the adventages of living in Novosibirsk is the opportunity to attend conerts by great Russian pianists. Anyway, I understand your rules. And yes, you already have a video of the performance I mentioned. I just wanted it to stay in history. Thanks again for your efforts!
