Lufthansa's SOLID European Economy Trip Report | Airbus A319 | Billund to Frankfurt

Today I'm flying on a Lufthansa Airbus A319 in Economy. And although the aircraft was over 26 years old, it felt brand new!

I also have to add I do not get the Frankfurt Airport hate. Terminal 1 was literally opened in the 70s, and is a good Termianl with sufficient facilities, extremely clean restrooms (have you ever seen Spanish airport restrooms 🤮) and it‘s easy to connect through if you follow all the signs. It’s not worse than connecting through Heathrow or something. It‘s not beautiful but it doesn’t have to be. It‘s an airport not a SPA resprt. You‘re just there to pass a little bit of time before your flight which you can perfectly do in a lot of nice restaurants or while shopping in one of the many stores.

I mostly agree, I’ve never connected through Heathrow but have heard it’s one of the worst in the world for connections. I still think Heathrow is good if you’re starting/ending your journey there. And I’ve found connecting through Madrid a worse experience than Frankfurt. I just think the Frankfurt terminal design is dated and it feels like a maze. The low ceiling and dark colours just feel a bit oppressive in my opinion.

@@freddiesflightreviews That's true! The grey metallic walls and the dark blue signs probably add to that.

You also have to keep in mind Lufthansa is only expensive if you compare them with Ryanair, which they definitely aren’t. They use more expensive airports, don’t mistreat their staff and Lufthansa crew get paid sick days while Ryanair for example does not pay crew when they‘re not flying. Keeping all that in mind I think 100€ is the only price Lufthansa can even make money from a passenger.

I’ve not tried KLM tbh so can’t compare. But I found these Lufthansa seats comparable to Ryanair/Wizzair just with more legroom.

@@freddiesflightreviews long time ago that I flew Ryanair so I can't compare. But also last year i flew Eurowings A320 with extra legroom, and it was still a ''worse'' experince than Lufthanse without any extras, maybe I was just lucky, or you were just unlucky

Surprises me you say the Lufthansa chocolate isnt as good as the SWISS chocolate since the‘re the same I think. Made by the same company, just different wrapping

I could be wrong but I think they are different. The Swiss chocolate is made by Frey (a Swiss company) and the Lufthansa chocolate is made by Coppeneur (a German company). The Swiss chocolate was also slightly bigger and lists hazelnuts as an ingredient which the German chocolate doesn’t. So overall I stand by the claim that the Swiss chocolate is a bit better (but it all comes down to personal taste at the end of the day).
