It's honestly very cool that Luffy sees the Pirate king as a stepping stone and not an end goal. He knows his dream is insane in world and knows he needs the influence and fame to do it. And the idea of Luffy wanting everyone to have the same freedom he enjoys as a pirate is so simple.

I always thought Luffy wanting to be the biggest baddest pirate of all to be slightly strange of a goal for somebody who isn't really a power hungry guy who cares about status and prestige. It's a means to some other end befitting a largely good-natured and fun-loving fellow.

Technically Momo wouldn’t know Luffy’s dream after reading the journal, only Roger’s. The only reason Yamato knows it is Luffy’s dream is because Ace told her accidentally.

Something I loved about the chapter was the Oars jr. reference, with chopper saying that the cold doesn't affect him since he had the hat like Oars jr. in Marineford

Same. When i first read that line from Chopper, Oars Jr. suddenly popped into mind. That fact it was referenced by ODA again could probably mean Oars backstory could be relevant again.

Considering that everyone laughed at Roger and he got to the last island, and Luffy got laughed at and he is seeking the last island.. the entire story is a laugh tale

I saw a really nice theory on Reddit, that Luffy's dream is to unite pirates and marines. All his life, he's been influenced by both sides. Garp and Shanks. To do that, he needs to be the King of Pirates. So becoming the king could be a mean to unite both parties... becoming one piece?

Today, finally, the animated episode "Luffy's dream" [Ep. 1088] came out. It is the 17th of december, 2023 and 1 year since this video dropped. I came back here because of the incredible feelings and chills that this episode gave me which, in my opinion, together with the music that was played whilst Luffy's announcement, is a big moment in history of anime which introduces a peaceful atmosphere, but also the beginning of the end for the golden genueration.

As far as Lucci goes, I think it might be nice to see him go up against Robin in the end.

The thing about Luffy's dream is that it's so hard to figure out what his dream would be other than king of the pirates, because the only major thing about him is the D, but he's known this dream since before meeting Ace & Sabo so I seriously doubt it's something political cause that's just not Luffy's style. Hopefully it gets revealed soon! Edit: People have really interesting ideas :D

I've seen a post that Luffys dream is to catch every single bug on the planet. I won't and can't go into detail about why that is, but it had some substance and was ridiculous enough to be Luffys actual dream 🤣

The others said it was a declaration of war or the start of a new era, however. It might really just be a distraction ngl. It might also just suggest that Imu has Uranus in their possession.

Definitely think it's about making everyone in the world free, especially since the three people who Luffy did free, Robin (Ennies Lobby) Nami (Arlong) and Chopper (Wapol), didn't laugh at his dream and especially after what he saw at sabaody archipelago

The way I read the Gorosei's scene gave me the impression that Lulusia happened to be convenient for them. Is there a limit to the weapon's range, such that Lulusia happens to be within it? Is it limited to countries that the celestial dragon originally ruled? Exciting mystery :D

Ace says "Thats Childs Dream" when Luffy mention it to Sabo and Ace. Strawhats crew react when Luffy mention his true dream and Ussop says "That's Impossible". Ace quotes i think Luffy wants a huge Banquet but includes the marines. Ussop quotes I think Luffy wants to Unite everyone in One Peace (Piece).

I like to think the reason why Shanks cried with Roger after he came back from Laugh tale was because he told Shanks that he knows how to achieve his dream now.

This makes sense. For everyone to attend the party, red line must be destroyed. Fishmen need to come to land. For there to be food of all kinds, all blue needs to be created which again needs red line destruction. And I believe in this party, luffy will keep jumping in the sky beneath moon as nika which already has parallel in skypea. It also parallels what luffy said to kaido. What's amazing is someone made this theory before luffy even told his wish to kaido and declared he has a dream beyond becoming pirate king. Since this theory already seemed possible and got supporting evidence with later chapters, its very likely.

For some reason, the detail that stuck out to me the most was the fact that Luffy casually said his true dream, then when Usopp started questioning it Luffy was like "Wait... didn't I already tell you guys this?" Like he figured they would all know by now, but then realizes he only ever told Ace, Sabo, and Shanks... Also, not to be a nitpicker, but if I recall correctly, Ace didn't laugh at Luffy's dream, he just went something along the lines of "I can't believe you said that out loud" while Sabo laughed. Still, the reactions to Luffy's dream is all really intriguing, because not only is it ridiculous, according to Usopp, it's literally impossible. I also like Nami's reaction of "yeah, that's a very 'you' thing to say".

Exactly it’s why I don’t think it’s a big party since if luffy wanted that he could litterally have the biggest party right now. It’s something even more ridiculous

I can honestly kinda see Robin soloing Lucci now. There’s clearly something Oda wants him for, otherwise he wouldn’t keep showing him, and if he does encounter the Straw Hats again, he’ll get absolutely murdered by the original monster trio and probably Jimbei too now, but Robin seems plausible for his final fight.

The relations with Enel made me feel like devil fruits originated from different ancient people or gods or maybe even weapons, like Enel's fruit seems similar to what Im did but enels was less powerful

"I want everyone to smile" or "I want everyone to be happy" or "I want everyone to be friends/be my friends". I think it is going to be something very wholehearted and conceptually impossible because of the idea that you can't please everyone. Becoming the pirate king would give Luffy enough influence to possibly reach this since becoming the king is just a steppingstone for him to help him achieve his true dream.

I am very exited to see how this all plays out. Also what if we got a character that has been in hiding that recived the imortality operation during the void centry

I'd love to see Lucci and Usopp interact or get into a skirmish at some point after Usopp motivating Luffy helped him push through to victory at Enies Lobby.

Chopper reacted to luffy's dream the same way he reacts to usopp's lies, and usopp seemed concerned cus he wasn't the one saying something so outrageous

I think after Boney gives us the set up Luffy will have Jimbies toast before they set out even though the time line of that is weird but yeah I’ve been waiting for the toast too

Luffys dream is… are you ready?… MAKE PIRATES AND MARINES BECOME FRIENDS!!! It matches everything. It’s "impossible", is a child fantasy and is something that would make anyone laught. He needs to be pirate king JUST TO HAVE A SHOT of achieving it. Just think about it, since the beginning Coby is the first friend of luffy that the story shows you. And we had foreshadowing with luffy getting along with smoker. So far this is the theory that makes the most sense to me. Imagine a FINAL in one piece in which Luffy as the pirate king can make a BIG PARTY with Coby as the head of the marines??

I saw a lot of people writing about Enel's destroying the island in the last chapter... but Enel's power simply can't do it. Without consider the apparently no relationship between Enel and the WG, Ener is simply a guy who found the Goro Goro no Mi and decided to be a god in the shealted envirorment of the Sky Islands, is also a relative young user of the fruid. So nothing avaliable for Imu in the decades

Shank's crying was also realizing he found the one Roger's crew was waiting for

I really like the Gorosei being visibly upset about destroying Ohara and Lulusia Villains who are evil because they believe it's justified or necessary are far more interesting than villains who are evil just because they enjoy it

I feel like the childhood dream of going to the moon would work perfectly as luffys dream. We already know the importance of the moon and it really feels like something that only sunny could turn into a reality

What if Luffy's dream is to make the biggest banquet in the world the biggest party thats ever been. In every arc what happens in the end???

Great point about Jimbe's toast. I kind wondered if it would have been shown in a flashback or something but the window for that may have closed.. We could still get it maybe, but it's starting to feel like the ideal time for it may have paseed

I think he honestly just said the he wants everyone to be free. Or maybe something about getting rid of the world government and marines in general, therefore making everyone free. Also, I have a theory that Imu might have a devil fruit that’s the Hito Hito No mi model: Moon God (Name). As of current we believe, or at least believed, Blackbeard to be the perfect parallel to Luffy. Darkness, Sun god (light). But, if you think about it, Imu is more opposite of Luffy. Luffy wants everyone free, presumably, and Imu is the king of the world and wanted power over everyone. A.K.A, A lack of freedom.

I‘m pretty damn shure that Vivi will join the crew. She will team up with the strawhats and stay with them

Isn't sorbet kingdom in south blue? It couldn't be in the new world yet even in the grand line. Except if the kingdom is like germa's but I don't think it's the case

After having read the chapter a few times, and now reading official translation, I think that Lulusia was going to be destroyed whether Sabo was there or not, based off of the elders reaction it seems that Sabo was extremely unlucky to be there at the moment and it wasn't something planned specifically to kill him

I don’t think anyone thought that Lulusia’s destruction had anything to do with Sabo, besides the fact that he was supposedly there when it happened. What I mean is that no one thought that Lulusia was destroyed because Sabo was there or anything like that.

One Piece adding a new mystery while unfolding previous mysteries slowly.

Alright so hear me out, what if the one piece is actually just a one piece bathing suit that allows devil fruit users to swim. It would make sense why everyone on the Roger pirates found it so funny and also why no one took it for themselves, because no one on the Roger pirates (correct me if I'm wrong) has a devil fruit.

What about Luffy wanting to create a kingdom of pirates where the only law is to be free? It could be based on the Pirate Republic. Also Luffy might think that being a King means he can create a kingdom.

@@DomiBeam He's setting up a kingdom of freedom, not ruling it. The entire point is for people to be free and there is no "ruler"

I think Luffys dream is to join the Marines after becoming the king of the pirates.

Hot take: Jimbei's toast to join the crew was actually the blood transfusion he gave to Luffy at the end of the Fishmen Island arc

How Usopp reacted to his dream was really good to me because he's like no way my man even as pirate king but then like well actually I'm already here so let's go plus that part was my favorite of the chap seeing all of them hang out while just cruising missed that kind of stuff for so long

I think Luffy’s Dream is what Oda is going to go back to originally with his one shot collections, specifically Vol.2 Of Oda’s Romance Dawn when he’s in the cell with Anne they talk about dreams/goals. Note: there’s no Rodger or a One Piece in this iteration of the One Piece World. Oda has luffy break down the foundation of two different types of pirates in the world, Peace Mains & Morganeers. When Anne asks Luffy what was he doing in the middle of the sea, Luffy says “I’m Looking For Some Peace Mains. I Wanna Join Their Crew.” Not pirate king or one piece. Luffy explains to Anne that pirates like Spiel is a Morganeer and that “Pirates Who GO ON ADVENTURES By FEEDING ON MORGANEERS Are Called Peace Mains”. “I’m Going To Be A Peace Main”. Notice in 106O the reactions from the crew because that’s not a “I Want To Be Pirate King Talk” that we normally hear from Luffy. I believe Luffy just wants to beat up “bad pirates.” He’s literally changing the way pirates are viewed in the world. Their suppose to be “bad” but luffy at heart is a good person playing in the world of “bad guys aka pirates” and is changing how the world should view it. I might be reaching but, Luffy may end the pirate era as a result of this. Once he is known as the king of the pirates he will be fulfilling the prototype “PeaceMain” Role Oda wrote to where its really no point in being a pirate anymore, to whereas there’s no point of a World Government to oppose pirates anymore because Luffy has claimed ONE PIECE (world restoration). It’s like Randy Troys Law is apart of Sword Theory but specifically when he talks about how Law views Luffy. Luffy wether he’s aware or not oddly enough does benevolent acts as a PIRATE. He just wants an adventure to experience to own like JoyBoy & Roger. I had to dig outside of the one piece we’re reading to see where Oda’s head was at. He also switched out Shanks for Garp before he submitted it to Jump. Garp is a pirate and is the one who gave him the hat. Garp also didn’t say he got luffys devil fruit from the government just an “enemy’s ship”. Now hence also in todays chapter 106O, Luffy said he also told Shanks his dream as well and Shanks already knew from the jump he wanted to be pirate king from the surface as we see as readers/viewers but being a peace main could be the reason he passed the hat down and found it funny like some of the strawhats once knowing Luffy’s dream. According to the wiki Oda switched it on purpose to persevere the relationship between Luffy and Shanks, so dreams are really important to Oda in changing the world. The point is that peace mains are originally normal people who later become pirates to defeat the original pirates that were around or were oppressed by from a surface understanding pirates are bad people but The whole entire idea of peace mains existing is to rid of Morganeers or bad pirates (aka WG or whoever in that time). But once you achieve one piece people will drop their weapons and there will be no government or reason to even be a pirate or a Marine anymore. these peace mains Who were once regular civilians probably chose to become a pirate because from their viewpoint pirates have alot of freedom so those civilians just want to fight for their freedom!

I think that shanks was not crying due to laughter. I think he shed a tear because fluffy reminded him of roger and how they both have the same dream. that is why shanks gave fluffy the straw hat

It's kind of a shame that I only started reading the manga so recently, cause for me Lulusia was really poorly stablished for anime only watchers, I wish I could've felt the loss of that place a little harder, cause even as it is, it felt like a monumental event.

I think he wants everyone to be pirates is a good guess. It makes sense since Luffy doesn’t see pirates as violent criminals but people who are truly free so if he wants everyone to be pirates he wants everyone in the world to be free which would warrant the reactions of the crew considering the current state of the one piece world

Oda said the other day on an AMA, his dream is for all of his friend dreams to come true as well.

I still believe Carror snuck aboard Sunny and will join the crew. I mean seriously, after everything they've been threw with her and we didn't even get a goodbye? She's totally in there and she most definetly heard his dream with them big ol' ears

I got a theory of why the gorosei are so scared of the nika nika fruit and the image of « Joyboy ». Since Imu sama (their apparently strongest weapon) seems to use a kind of map to reshape and attack the world as he wish maybe the power of joyboy can evade that and use his imagination to counteract Imu’s immense power.

Just wanted to mention, I saw a fan theory that uranus is the ability to command (16) real dragons, which would make it similar to Poseidon. i.e.they mentioned the possibility that those were essentially 16 simultaneous boro breaths

Theory: Jinbe doesn’t need a toast because he already gave luffy his blood. It was a done deal right then and there with no need for anymore ceremony.

Vivi got a way better chance of joining the crew now since she also lost someone very dear to her (her father) like everyone of the strawhats did. It could be argued that that is also the reason why Yamato is not yet an active member of the crew. Also I think the most likely place to where Vivi disappeared to might be Fishman Island. Not sure if Megalo went with the Neptune family but that would be an easy way to hide Vivi who also seemed to trust Shirahoshi and her family. This would also give Luffy a reason to return to Fishman Island and fulfill Madam Shyarly's prophecy

I dont think Vivi is joining the straw hats for the same reason she didnt join the first time this time except the stacks are an enhanced version of it, the people of alabasta already lost their king and it would be cruel to take away their princess too just so she can be a crewmember. knowing oda he wont go that route.

I've always said best way to describe One Piece was "it's a mystery anime with a pirate outfit on"

Bonnie being sent to her home island (that winter island) from marijoea by Kuma because idk, maybe some "I love you so much, I surpass the cyborgfication, I once again regain my sense, I will send you to our home but just for a moment". Or just Sabo might be able to command Kuma to send her home

I think Luffys dream is very simple, much like Luffy, and we’ve already heard it. When he’s fighting Kaido, Luffy cries out “I want a world where everyone can eat as much food as they want!” And we have reaction panels from Kaido, King and Yamato, three people who knew about JoyBoy and Roger. It’s simple in context but what it means is that everyone is free to do what they want, just said in Luffy’s classic simple mindset making it about food.

I think he wants to have a party with the entire world. The problem with the ending world hunger point is i don’t see why Shanks and everyone would laugh at that. Having a party with the world though? Thats exactly the kinda thing Luffy would say, also the fact that he has a huge party after literally like every arc

@@mozzy1268 I think people would laugh because of two reasons 1.) it fits Luffy so well that you have to laugh. Since his fruit is now revealed to be Nika, laughing at whatever dream Luffy has is very fitting as well as Luffy just being simple like that 2.) it’s funny because why does someone need to become the pirate king to do this? Just open a restaurant or something but no, Luffy is going that extra mile

@@thinkdumb opening a restaurant wouldn’t feed the whole world…and Ace and Sabo didn’t know Luffy’s fruit and still laughed. Also that still wouldn’t be reason for Shanks to laugh like that

I just had a mini brainwave in noticing a pattern of Luffy’s recruitment. I don’t think very thoroughly about stuff so if anyone can confirm or deny this as a good idea that would be great but He recruited Robin - a subordinate of a warlord He then recruited Jimbei - a warlord that was a subordinate of a yonko What if his next step is to recruit Shanks - a Yonko that was a subordinate of the pirate king?

I'm just happy that we finally get to know about Bonney more

What if his dream was just : I want to be a pirate nobody could arrest (or something like that ). Like nobody could arrest Roger , only he could hand himself in .

Luffys dream is what he told Kaido. He wants his friends to be able to eat as much as they want. Either nobody goes hungry or they can eat for free

I 100% believe Luffys Dream is to go to the moon! That perfectly could encapsulate everyones reactions to him saying it. Zoro seems suprised to hear it but not shocked since he knows Luffy is childish, Nami gives the same reaction with a nervous look cause she’d be a space navigator, Jimbei thinks its a bit absurd being the most mature, Brooke and Franky are laughing hard but Franky matches the energy and finds it perfect cause he could build a spaceship. Sanji tells Chopper to check Luffy head because space travel seems mythical, Ussopp is Luffy best friend but a realist so he questions if Luffy is serious. Chopper is in awe like a kid would be, and Robin is speechless perhaps due to knowledge she learned briefly at ohara, it could perhaps be her dream too. A great archaeologist would want to go to the moon. Think about the moon imagery throughout the story and Luffy awakening in front of it

I think what imu-sama just did paralleld with luffy’s true dream just after luffy revealed his dream to his crewmates imu sama appeared so that means luffy’s true dream is the opposite of what imu did to lulusia

I get the impression that in the end, one piece will end up being a story about moral ambiguity. Oda makes a huge deal about making the enemies able to be sympathized with through backstories and explaining why they ended up becoming the antagonists. There are definitely a couple that were just assholes but the big bads were all at one time not horrible but driven to their means. You see this through the story and even with the Gourosei [sp?]. You see it with the admirals and even teach. Maybe I’m wrong but I’m excited to see how this all plays out
