Jerry is correct in his hype of Doffy. Doflamingo has INSANE HP. The fact that he was still able to fight while holding up the birdcage AND was constantly stitching/holding his organs in place while taking G4th attacks is hella impressive. People underrate Law's death blow with that gamma knife. I don't think Luffy would've won without Law there.

Id say Doffy is right under 3rd commander level. Even cracker could damage/cut g4 luffy. Doffy literally cant do anything while he is in g4 except hope that shit runs out. But yeah his HP is definitely tough. He has the will of a conqueror though so its not surprings he can get back up after a whoopin

Oh nah not hordy 💀 What he represents is very real and a powerful reflection on reality, but without those pills, I wouldn't be surprised if Franky or brook could take him out. Hordy nearly died against zoro when he himself took a few pills, AND flooded the room which makes him much stronger as a Fishman and zoro got handicapped from having to fight underwater.

@@katara1610 dam I wouldn't put him down there with wapol lol His character is decent, its just that usually with villains like him, we deal with them very early one piece, so they weren't around for long. But he was around for a while and you know he's gonna be. Maybe he just wasn't the type of villain for this arc. As for what he represents though, that's a different thing itself and is pretty complex, which makes him even more of a piece of garbage as you learn about him and how he ended up the way he is. Unfortunately tho, that same complex narrative doesn't fully reflect on his overall character as much as it should for most of the arc. Alright villain, just not very entertaining tbh

I’m saying a fresh doflamingo vs a fresh luffy w/ G4 is a LOT harder to predict than what we think. There are SO many factors that’s played in to this fight already. Like Jerry said we’ve had Doffy fighting so many people, using bird cage, and he’s taken a massive hit due to a combined attack from Luffy and Law which literally destroyed his insides. And we have Luffy who has already fought in the colosseum and took hits from Sprigy Guy but really didn’t expend as much energy as Doffy has throughout the day. Luffy’s power only lasts 10 minutes before he’s spent. Doffy is facing G4 Luffy with his innards being held together by string. To me, removing the main protagonist plot armor that Luffy has the fight IMO would be unpredictable 1v1.

Luffy still takes it Doflamingo's injuries only weakened his stamina and endurance/pain tolerance. Not his actual durability or devil fruit powers. A weakened Doflamingo did absolutely NOTHING to G4 Luffy until his awakening. Fresh Doffy would do better but he'd still get whooped, it would have ended up worse if he chose to use Snakeman instead of Bounceman 💀

I think it's pretty obvious that a fresh Doffy vs a fresh Luffy at this point, without outside interference, goes to Doffy. Luffy only wins if he can recover after Gear Fourth runs out (we know that Doffy can tank one round of Gear 4th), and in a real 1v1 without main character plot armor, Doffy would kill him after surviving the first round of Gear 4th.

A healthy Doffy could easily take a few Kong guns Edit: I see you said King Kong guns. But it would appear to me that this isn’t an attack that Luffy could just spam. Even so, I see no reason that a fresh Doflamingo couldn’t avoid the attack. Unless he chooses to just stand there then your scenario is unlikely to happen

We watched the entirety of the fight and it seemed to me that Doffy didnt really dodge, but instead was always trying to compete with Luffy on power alone. He couldve tried to dodge the King Kong gun at the end but instead tried to overpower it with 16 holy bullets. If he were to keep using that strat and ends up eating a couple of King Kong guns for his effort, I dont see him winning. Not only that, but even if he tries to run idk if he can. Obviously bounce man is no snake man, but its still pretty damn quick. Doffy couldnt even react to rhyno schneider to the face even though he saw Luffy coming.

Rob wrong about Doffy being cowardly or fearing Fujitora. He didnt fear Aokiji as well. He just retreated.

@@thecash5837 well he feared Aokiji more because Aokiji isn’t affiliated with the Marines and the WG anymore so Aokiji didn’t gaf if Doffy was a CD. Plus he’s affiliated with BB now and since he’s a Yonko, that’s all the more reason to fear Aokiji. Fuji is a different story cause not only is Doffy a warlord (a government approved pirate) but he’s also a CD so Fujitora couldn’t lay a hand on him until he was stripped of his Warlord title which he planned to do after they planned to take down Luffy and Law.

1. Luffy does not Toy w/ his enemies, he fights seriously whoever and whenever. You’ve been watching this anime for 700 episodes, you should know what Luffy’s personality is. 2. Sure, Doffy getting his ass whooped while Gear 4th Luffy, but Rob downplaying Doffy and forgetting all of Doffy’s dubs just because he’s getting his ass whooped right now is extremely bias to the point of being stupid. 3. - We need put in the consideration of what Doffy was doing and what he just got inflicted with. Doffy is controlling the bird cage; controlling thousands of people; just got hit by Law’s Gamma Knife - destroying his inner organs and got counter shocked. -Luffy did get a beating before finally fighting Doffy but that is nothing compared to getting your inner organs destroyed. I like your reactions Rob, but you being so biased in this show, and switching your opinions making your own opinion make sense destroys the mood. I remember watching Dressrosa last year and this episode and gear 4 had me completly amazed by it. It's my favourite gear, it was such a cool level up.

I'm semi mad at subs on that reveal. Instead of going along with the voice and leaving the "Fourth" to be shown right at the final "To be continued" card they reveal it right before. Such a small thing, I know, but the moment isn't as hype imo. They could have easily just subbed what hes saying and did "Gear, Fourth" than just "Fourth Gear" and forcing them to reveal the number seconds before the exact moment of cliffhanger.

Ngl Jerry really made me realize just how goated doffy actually is and I always liked him. His powers were definitely stretched thin throughout this battle and I think Oda did it like that for a reason to demonstrate just how powerful doffy is and not to forget his bloodline. Not he would've won but it's still stuff that I didn't take into account my first time watching it.

Pat hits on something really key in OP: Any Devil Fruit can be good if you’re creative and push the boundaries with its power. Doflamingo took a “string” power and used it to fly, self-heal, and do fire-waves, plus the usual “spiderweb” themes. Luffy took a “rubber” power and made himself faster, stronger, and also fly. Law is similarly creative with his powers, which I love.

Remember back in Enies Lobby when they were complaining about how Luffy didnt have a visual transformation

12:19 The thing about doffy's birdcage is that it can even separate off signals from the inside and outside. Oda purposely did that to show you couldn't slip through when even a signal couldn't.

@@ayothemayoman2840 But it did make sense, doffy's strings can become so thin that they're invisible. You never knew wtf was going on for doffy's powers before dressrosa. Even at marineford several characters didn't know how oars foot got chopped off. Saying it's plot convience is saying you don't know how to understand a story.

However what you can portay by visuals alone isn't easy to do under the shounen tag that's why we're also given statements to support why someone thin couldn't just slip through. If it was a precise visual portrayal 24/7 certain person who touched the string would've been mincemeat in an instant visually which wouldn't work for shounen levels of violence portrayal when we know they died anyways.

I legit don’t know how Rob is gonna react to the next 3 arcs.

in most fights you dont always have to go all out. in most things in fiction when the MC has a big power up or will get it over time. when they get it they are a sign of growth and to show they are gonna turn the fight in their favor. By Robbie's logic even most villains can 1 tap the mc if when they have the chance. like Frieza as a clear example. he could have killed everyone but didn't. even when he was at 50% of max power in his final form. its like Saitama doing a serious punch on everyone frame 1. there is a natural build or even situations that prevent some characters from going all out. in dofi's case he fought ALL DAY got his organs FUCKED TWICE (PAUSE) and still fought Luffy and is going STILL against Luffy. so to warp u my point Luffy bringing in Gear 4th NOW is mostly due to show us Luffy grew and to show the fight had to be built up to this for the reasons as yall saw in the later episodes and here. (JUST INCASE SPOLIERS This power up does indeed have a drawback). So even if what Robbie said was true and Luffy could have brought it out frame 1 in fights you dont often show everything because you have no idea on how it will effect the overall fight. Luffy being confident against a weakened but still capable Dofi is something to keep in mind Plus the draw back. plus Like Goku does the same thing as an example him not 1 tapping frieza after going SSJ 1 or allowing Frieza going 100% TO PROVE A POINT is also important. Luffy is doing the same with gear 4th. lets say for example Luffy did bring out Gear 4th frame 1 and Dofi didnt die or lost but the fight drew out longer and Luffy's big trump card is shown and dofi is not down or dead and now dofi seeing the power this early he legit has every reason for him to kill Luffy. sorry for the essay :D

Luffy is weakened as well, or are we going to ignore all the damage that was dealt to him in previous chapters? He didn't bring it out because Dofi is weakened, he brought it out because he needed to close the gap. Welcome to One Piece, its common for both parties to start the battle in a weakened state.

Yo Jerry Doffy's ability are parasitic, he doesn't really have to do much on controlling the cage or people, he just place his will on the strings and it's all auto control. If Doffy wasn't the villain in this show, it's hard to think of a Devil-Fruit that can beat a power user that has healing, parasitic control, shield, ground & aerial supremacy. If he wasn't nerfed, he can just fly to "Laugh Tale."
