Yep, and the drummer fumbles around and throws the piano player off. Not impressed with the sax playing either. Lucy's singing is the only thing that makes listening to this worthwhile.

listen to her now (2021), so much better even! She lost most of the awkward mannerisms. It is incredible difficult to bring Honeysuckle across at this slow tempo.

Some songs are to be sung by men, some by women. Some songs will adapt, some really don't. This is one that doesn't really suit anyone but a man singing these lyrics. Doesn't matter if the performance is good, it is just not working, that is, if lyrics really are important at all, and of course, they are.

It’s a good thing you’re here to tell all the great musicians of the world what they’re doing wrong. What would they do without you! Since you seem not to have an ear for music yourself, maybe switch to reading poems instead. Poems have lots of correct words, I think you’ll find you enjoy them a lot.

@@leobrahmachari6611 I have worked for decades with the top singers in the country. Singing is (at least) a two fold artform: the pure singing, (musicality, techniqued, tone, etc.) and there is a theatrical/acting component. If you are singing a song with lyrics essentially written for the opposite sex, the song can sometimes be adapted, and sometimes it really is best to leave it alone, if it's not adaptable. If one simply ignores that, and if anyone is actually listening to the lyric, the "acting" part is out the window, at the very least, if not creating a ludicrous cognitive disconnect. So, what are you saying, essentially?-- that people who know their own subject area, quite thoroughly, need not render an informed opinion? Singing is an artform in which a lot of talent is required, so much so that people with talent sometimes, and actually quite often, especially younger, perform without much actual background in the complete subject area, and may "get away" with some gaps in their performance, but true lovers of the artform are not going to simply give a "pass" on poor renditions. In the artworld, critics and connoisseurs are sometimes perceiving things the average listener might not, that doesn't make the criticism invalid. People are free to discard those more "informed" opinions, and often do. If you enjoyed the performance, great.

@@zdogg8 That’s a lot of words. I find that people that have nothing to say with their horn usually have a lot to say with their words. Go figure
